[OOC: It's up to the DM as to whether monsters die instantly, or like PCs become unconscious and have to start making Death Saving Throws. To guarantee Instant Death of a PC, the killing blow would need to do as much as the creature's normal maximum hit points, which I don't believe Briga did, considering how much damage had to be done to the creature to knock it down. So, it might be possible with the duergar, but not with the human Briga took out first; we were told that was an Instant Death. It'll be interesting to see what the ruling is, and possibly useful in terms of gaining information.]

[OOC: I always assume non-lethal unless specifically stated that you are intending to kill - except in the case where you do enough damage to deal a killing blow, then it is an automatic death (like the human), as you didn't hit that threshold for the duergar, he is considered unconscious, however, they will be inactive for a few hours at least by that point, so it goes into death saves for NPCs only when it becomes relevant, as once they are unconscious they are no longer considered a threat to you, that's my ruling on death in a campaign, of course if you hit a devestating blow (like 19 on a human who had 3 hit points left and 11 max hp for example) Also, I need Briga and Griffdar to make perception checks, and Arlon to make an investigation check for me please.]
Arlon, after thoroughly searching the duergar and corpse of the human, you don't find anything valuable apart from the weapons they are carrying. The duergar has a war pick, javelin, scale mail sized for a dwarf, and a shield. The human has a scimitar and light crossbow and is wearing leather armor.
Meanwhile, while Griffdar and Briga clearing out the furniture to the northern room, Briga spots what looks like a puddle of greyish-black oil slipping out from underneath the door that was barricaded.
Briga backpedals 10 or 15 feet to the far end of the room from the door they have uncovered and waves for Griff to do the same, pointing out the greyish-black oil. "Whoa, whoa, we've got some weird goop coming out from under the door right there."
Briga observes the goo for a moment, trying to gauge if it is caustic, eating through stone or the flesh and fabric and steel of the room's fallen sentries. "Any ideas what's going on here, fellas? I know this is a sewer hideout, but this doesn't look like a normal, like, sewer gunk. If it is then someone has some serious diet issues. Yikes."
As you continue to observe the goo, it continues to seep through, eventually a puddle of this greyish-goo coaleces into a shapeless form, and is crawling toward you.
Griff - this won't count as your action but you will have time to try and work out what it is with a nature check.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tyrus's Initiative: 6
[OOC: DM, I didn't get a specific answer about the duergar. Is he unconscious and has Tyrus stabilised him? If so, the following is Tyrus's move.]
Tyrus will drag the duergar's body towards the entrance they came through. He will then cast the Mage Hand cantrip and use it to bring his hooded lantern to him. If he still has time, he will get one of his flasks of oil and a candle out of his backpack.
[OOC: If the duergar is dead, I will assume that Tyrus is already at the entrance to the room and able to get the candle and the flask of oil out of his backpack. He will then cast the spell and light the candle from his lantern.]
In either case, he wants to be ready to douse the monster with oil and set it alight with the lit candle next turn. The Mage Hand is to ensure he doesn't need to get close to the thing.

In other words, as the damage assumed was non-lethal - he would be stabilized automatically when you knock him down - if you state lethal damage, then it would go into death saves.]
Griffdar, having a look at the puddle, you notice that it itself is a being of some kind. You have heard stories of oozes, though your not necessarily sure about what they are able to do. One thing you've been told is they like to swallow living creatures and consume them, and have the intelligence of a wild beast, so there is no reasoning with an ooze. They act on an instinct to feed.
I will cover what people will do once everyone has rolled initiative.
[OOC: The first one - Briga crit and did enough damage to instakill it, the other one - you haven't seen and haven't checked, so you don't know if his alive or not - you just heard a thump ;)]
