Briga clasps her hands around the glaive and says a less solemn prayer. "Tempos, give this man the strength to expel the brain thing from his brain. You give bravery to one brain in one skull at a time, no sharing, oh lord of battle. Give his brain strength to fight off the invading brain. And, uh, Auril, if you're listening, you cold *****, please save this man... so he can continue to imbibe unusually frosty mugs of ale in tribute to your horrible majesty and stuff. Sorry, Tyrus, I'm no good at this. - I guess we should leave it to Griff, the professional" She cautiously steps forward. "Can we move this guy, or will he freak out and attack us?"
As you're all heading out and the prayers are given to your respective gods, Floon cries out in pain as you can see there is a fight going on inside his skull between trying to hold back the terror he is going through, and the abomination you saw enter his head.
Griffdar attempts his best to use his abilities, but the brain is not expelled, so you all decide the best course of action is to get him to a temple and fast. Tyrus leading the way, you don't come across any other denizens of the hideout, having cleared the way on the journey here. Heading back out, you pass the dead duergar which reminds you of the possible fate that awaits Floon, who at this point is not speaking and is getting pale. You quicken your pace as a group and continue rushing, calling for people to get out of the way as you make your way to the closest temple.
The thing about cities is how quickly word travels, and within minutes from when you arrive - Volo comes running in hearing about someone being pulled out of the sewers.
"My god, is he OK? Oh, this is all my fault! What am I going to do? All because I couldn't think of something to write, damn me! I should be the one suffering, not him! Please, save him!" Volo cries out in an overdramatic way that you almost think it could be staged.
When Renear sees what has happened, he is much more solemn and the look of guilt a much more sincere one, that could not be copied by even the best actors or bards. He sits in silence while you all wait patiently in the temple. You explain to the clerics what you've seen happen and they take him to a private room.
As you wait outside for news, everyone has a nervous energy about them as you wait for news of Floon's fate.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tyrus does not have faith in any gods, so he doesn't join Griffdar and Briga in their prayers either in the sewers or in the temple, and is feeling a little out of place at the moment.
However, when the proper opportunity presents itself, he will talk quietly with Renear to tell him about the purple monstrosity they saw down in the sewers as he believes it is a clear and present danger to all those who live in Waterdeep.
[OOC: I don't know if Tyrus actually knows about the Illithids (Arcana Roll: 18 if relevant), but he will use the right words if he does. Otherwise, he will just use general terms and express the danger from the point of view that, anyone who had an Intellect Devourer—which he does no about—as a pet must be very powerful and very evil.]

Tyrus knows a little about the illithid race, they usually work as a hive mind within the Underdark and usually travel in groups. Seeing one alone typically means it is an outcast from the illithid culture as they usually communicate with each other through a hive mind. Also, the fact that the half-orc hadn't been thralled suggests that this particular Mind Flayer would have something to do with the Xanathar Guild.
Tyrus will convey all the information above to Renear, impressing upon him the danger the mind flayer represents. He also mentions that he believes the creature's name is Nihiloor and that he wouldn't be surprised if the monster hasn't taken over the Xanathar guild of thieves because that is what such creatures and their intellect devourer pets do. He also suggests that where there is one mind flayer, there is likely to be a whole bunch of the foul creatures [OOC: hee, hee].

"The Xanathar Guild is run by something foul, but no mind flayer" Renear replies. "What you saw was a member of the guild, my spies had reported that the Xanathar guild had a mind flayer creating these brain creatures to be used as spies in the city. Nihiloor was shunned from the Underdark for being willing to work with such a foul abomination such as the Xanathar Guild, but as a visitor of the city myself, there is not much I can do about it. I've informed the watch and the harpers are keeping an eye on things, but there's not much I myself can do, every time we've dealt with the Xanathar, a replacement is usually in place within a few weeks," Renear says in response to Tyrus's concerns with a look of defeat on his face.
Some time passes, and the clerics come out of the chamber. "We had to act quickly, but thankfully we had someone in, Renear - you are covering the required donation I'm guessing?" he asked the Open Lord's son, who nods and drops a very hefty pouch into the hands of the cleric. "This should be enough to cover the materials we'll need, thank you," the priest responds and heads back into the room. After a little more time passes, a disorientated Floon exits the room, with a hand against his head. In a slightly squeaky voice, he says "Oh, what has happened? Where am I? Where have I been? Why do I smell like sewers, this smell will never get out of my fine clothing, I'm going to need to spend a fortune on a full new outfit" he says. To the rest of you, the smell isn't that bad.
"And you must be the ones who got me out of that filth. Brave going into such a dirty place willingly. I would never do the same for anybody. I wouldn't stoop down to that level. No no no," he says, very ungratefully. "Ahh Volo, Good to see you again," he says, pushing and barging past the rest of you into your shoulders rudely.
Renear sighs and gives an apologetic look in the group's direction. "He'll be fine, give it a couple of days and we'll make sure to get some sense into him again. He's not usually so rude," he says.
Volo then comes over to the group. He shakes all of your hands and has a look of sadness in his face.
"I confess that I have but few coins to spare. But never let it be said that Volo reneges on a promise. Allow me to present you with something much more valuable than pieces of metal." He holds out a scroll tube. "Contained within is the deed to a remarkable property right here in Waterdeep, in the North Ward - one of the nicer parts of the city. Of course, we'll need a magistrate to witness the transfer of ownership. I'll arrange a meeting with one after you've had a look at the estate and deemed it satisfactory."
Neverember also hears this and mentions "and as for the transfer fee the magistrate's charge, I'll give the cash to Volo to cover that for you - it's the least I could do for saving my life."
Having a look at the deed, it contains an address to a manor on Trollskull Alley, located in the North Ward of the city.

[OOC: Tyrus gets a new Bard spell, but I am undecided between Dissonance Whispers and Healing Word. Dissonance Whispers is in line with his previous use of Vicious Mockery and easy to explain his having without getting training. Not being a local means that Tyrus is probably more interested in selling the place than living in it; he is a travelling tinker after all. He'd definitely be interested in taking a look at the manor to get an idea of its value, but in the end would hope to be bought out by anyone who wanted to keep the place.
He is also a little angry with Volo for not being a man of his word; he shouldn't have promised gold he didn't have.

"Sounds great, Tyrus! I literally smell and feel like I came out of a sewer. Lets regroup in the morning, when we're not all covered in exploded brains and sewage," Briga says.
The next morning Briga will show up in a simple but clean outfit, a one piece peasant dress clearly not meant for the six foot frame of a Rheged barbarian woman, bearing her explorer's pack, her weapons, and a new set of bag pipes, apparently carrying all of her worldly possessions on her back. She joins with the others to meet the magistrate and take ownership of their new property. She still wears the polar bear head cowl covering the bulk of her straw blond hair.
Before the meeting at the house, Griff would have attempted to sell his greatsword and warpick for some extra gold, (how much is the degraded greatsword worth now? i''ll assume half price on the warpick) and to save a bit of money Griff will purchase a Maul until he can save up enough to purchase his preferred weapon.
At the meeting his armor is shined and his face is washed, "Briga, you look nice."
