“You sure they’re still there, guys?” Briga asks Mairi and Tyrus. “Some dude paid them to turn on us? I’m still not sure if we’re dealing with, like, a guild strike, or giant rats. I’m confused, but I’ll roll with it, just tell me how I can help.”
"No," replies Tyrus. "We don't know if they're still there. But we should still be waiting for the guard to show up before we do anything, so that we be staying on the right side of the law."
Then, lowering his voice so as to not give anyone any ideas, Tyrus adds, "Just be glad they didn't decide to damage or burn the place."
He then begins to shout again. "Hey, halflings! What was that offer you be making to me again? Maybe we'll consider it to avoid any more spilling of blood."
[OOC: DM, does insurance exist in this world and was that part of the setting up of the tavern we did? I'm suspecting not, but that was all a bit hand wavy, so maybe.]

"The right side of the law, sure," Briga says. "But this is basically our house. I mean, it actually is, we live here. It's weird that we're on the wrong side of the door here. I can wait a bit for the guards to show, but what do you think they're doing in there? They could be messin' up all our stuff, emptying our supplies, dumping or even poisoning all the beer and ale. I don't know what the heck's up, but if we've got enemies in our house, I'm not OK with just letting them have their way with our place."
"If they be smart, they be gone," says Tyrus. "Their plan be doomed to be a failure anyway, what with me being the only owner in the place when they made their move. And now, with that half elf Mairi's help as a witness, we can be taking a complaint to the authorities about Frewn's illegal practices."
Tyrus then looks around and asks, "By the way, where be Griffdar?"

“No idea, he went missing some time before we confronted that nimblewright construct thing in the alley. I was booking it pretty fast to keep up with Sara, maybe he got lost,” Briga says. “Griff can handle himself, but I hope he’s ok. We could have used his help with that thing. Also his Paladin mojo could have saved a lot of panic with Sara. Oh well. Maybe he’ll find his way back to us. Abandoned dragons, lost dragons, either way you gotta return to your horde or whatever.”
Mairi furrowed her brow, seeming uncertain of Tyrus' earlier words to her. Yet, she said nothing of it, and would just observe the exchange between the duo. By the time attention turns back to her, the half-elf had taken to jotting some things in her little book in the interim. "Huh, what?"She responded intially, looking both confused and sheepish. Despite her own injuries, the reporter in her, it would seem at least, transcended it. For the moment.
"Oh, uhm... I.... y-you are most welcome."She added softly, having closed and pressed the book closely to her chest, and bowed her head just enough to hide her eyes. But not he sheepish smile she wore up until things had moved on once more. "I'm probably the fastest one here, so I could try. But the rest should stay here and watch the place at least. Chances are they may yet still take your coffers though."She then offers Brigga her rapier. "Here. They seemed particularly agitated when I brandish this at her. My guess? They do not like silver very much." She smiled, and if there was nothing more to be said, Mairi takes off for the closest guard station she knew of nearby.
Briga crosses her arms and waits for Mari to return with guards, while listening for signs of trouble within. After the earlier severe thrashing from the Nimblewright she and Sara faced, she is feeling more hesitant to charge into confrontations than normal.
Perception to listen for sounds within the tavern: 13
With no responses coming from within, Tyrus will also stand and wait for the guard while keeping a watchful eye out for any sign of smoke coming from the building.

"I wonder how long it will take Mairi to track down some guards, much less convince them to come and help, or at least oversee this whole thing," Briga says. "Getting the guards to do anything around here is like pulling the teeth out of an angry polar bear sometimes," she says, alluding to the difficulties in working with the guards when investigating the manor previously.
"I be wondering the same," says Tyrus, looking around.

[OOC: Based on the time of day, there are some onlookers - looking out through windows and when looked at back away drawing a curtain, as if trying not to be seen].
It doesn't take long for the Guards to arrive. "So, another report on the Shard Shunners, you've been lucky there were only 4 - their a rather pesky nuicanse in the North Ward - there's at least 50 members to this organisation on our last count," the guard explains. "Been after a lot of them - all halflings, all wererats - but once they go down in the sewers, well - let's just the Xanathar Guild is even worse," he says. It's obvious the guards don't really care about what happens in the sewers, but when it comes to the tavern, they do take an interest and take your statements.
Briga uses her thumb to point to the door behind her. "They're in there right now, seems like," Briga says, now having a clearer understanding of the description of problems with halflings, and with rats. "They said a guy named Frewn hired them to mess our place up, apparently. Sounds like these were-rats must not like Silver. Mairi left behind a silver rapier, and I've got a silvered glaive. We can use those to help clear these guys out and round them up, but we figured we should go all official-like on this." She sighs, a bit bored of reciting her credentials, and adds, "I'm a licensed bounty hunter with the city of Waterdeep, and a knighted woman of the Order of the Gauntlet. We're business owners in good standing with the guilds. And... so on. So, how do you want to handle this, guards?"
"Ah, but back to the subject of a certain silver rapier." A returned Mairi extends a hand out to Briga and smiles politely. If/When directed to Tyrus, she is sure to make the same gesture to him until the weapon is returned to her. While others are giving their statement, the half-elf hung back as much possible, preferring to wait her turn over volunteering details off-hand. And when she did so...
"Honestly, the main thing I know is I walked in expecting to grab a drink when suddenly these little Weres were holding the place up, and by extension myself at that point, at knife point over coin. Would've killed me too if not for this brave Dwarf here." She throws a thankful and long overdue smile to Tyrus. "But the rest is as my acquaintance here has said. I am Mairi, freelance reporter and... a member of the Emerald Enclave."
Briga nods, certain Tyrus will return the rapier. "Getting a weapon covered in silver is expensive! This glaive is pretty much the most valuable thing I own, and it's not even magic," Briga says. It isn't entirely surprising, as she wears her simple bounty hunter clothes, no armor, and a series of weapons that all appear mundane. She reflects a moment, then adds, "OK, I forgot, shared ownership of this manor. That's probably worth more, assuming the half-rat-lings don't wreck the place." She also wonders if they are insured, and if their coverage applies to this.
Tyrus hands Mairi back her rapier, saying, "That be a nice piece of silverware you got there. Nicely balanced." He then adds, "And, I be sorry you got dragged into this mess and glad ye got out alive."
He then turns to the guards and says, "Constables, if ye not be minding. We would like you to accompany us as we reclaim our property. I suspect the halfing rats be long gone, but it would be nice to have ye at our backs, just in case."
Then, turning to Briga, he asks, "Shall we?"

"Right on, Tyrus," Briga pumps a fist in the air. "Let's kick out these unwanted guests." She will enter with him, the guards, and Mari if she chooses to accompany them as well.
Saralyssa follows the other two inside, looking around for the wererats, and staying behind the bigger ones of her group.

As you wait for a response, the only answer you get is silence.
