Great mayor of myrtlegrove, we have traveled far and wide on business and hope to seek shelter in one of the city’s...* hiccup* fine establishments. You mentioned the black riders? Tell me good sir, what is the city’s relationship with the riders, for their infamy is know throughout all of Comstalia.
Nedrick while walking into the town looks around to see if he can spot any dark riders. He thinks he sees something move, but then he slams right into the wall at the entrance of the town. He now has a lump on his head.
Mort is able to see clearly around the town and notices that there are a few people in the run down houses around. They do not appear to be dark riders, they seem to be mostly elderly men.
History check:
Myrtlegrove was prosperous small village that exported lumber to major cities around the Comstalia. The population was around 200 people at its peak. The company was owned by the Lumbatet's family that lived in the Myrtlegrove Mansion.
As Mort asks the mayor about the relationship between the town and the dark riders, he replies with "They offer us protection and we allow them to live in the mansion. It is completely symbiotic relationship."
Ah but of course, saftey is a luxary few can afford. The citzens of myrtlegrove are truly lucky to have such a strong *hiccup* leader, one who puts no price on whats truly best for its people.
Mort winks at neldrick
But i digress. Tell me, are there many riders currently residing in the mansion? Ive read several books of the nobel Lumbatet family and their great lumbering ventures. Slightly embarrassed, I must confess that ive persuaded my party into temporarily *hiccup* detouring from our destination, in hopes of seeing such a historical monument.
The mayor looks at Mort and says "The Mansion is closed for visitors. I do not know the number of dark riders currently there, but they only come to town when they need something. We are strictly forbidden to have anyone go to the mansion, otherwise the undead will attack and their attacks aren't always restricted to the staying on the manor grounds."

Rhaucred looks about at some of the more downtrodden aspects of the town, "Your town seems to be going through some hard times for having its protection guranteed."

"If you have promised the use of the mansion to the dark riders, what happened to the family living there and their lumber business that supported the town?"
After hearing about the undead,
"Undead this close to your town and you are just living with them there? Surely someone must do something about that."
The mayor looks to Rhaucred and says "The family has been allowed to stay in the mansion. The undead are under the control of Strevras but sometimes when they are released to defend the manor they roam freely and attack at will. This had led to occasions where some undead have attacked the town, but they are quickly dealt with!"
Insight: By the looks of everything around town, there has obviously been a lot of fighting here recently.

Mort raises his eyebrow curiously, “ the undead defends the manor from whom exactly? I dont intend to sound presumptuous, *hiccup* but you must see that only the dark riders benefit from being allowed to reside within the city.” Leaning in close with a hushed voice, “I think if you look closely you’ll see that a little bit of...cooperation could greatly improve the city, its people, and most directly, you.
Mort pats the mayor on the shoulder, takes a swig of his flask and hands it to the mayor.

They mayor says "Let us talk more in private please. Come. Come." He motions to a nearby large building. It appears to be a courthouse. Once inside the mayor moves to the back and closes the door and says "What are you proposing? I don't like the dark riders either but they are strong, especially that necromancer. He killed a group of 15 men in a single blast. I don't know what we can do."
“First of all, absolute cooperation on your part is crucial to the success of the *hiccup* operation. If we are going to do this, execution is key. Your role primarily consists of 2 tasks. 1. information. We need every thing you can tell us about the manor, the necromancer, and the bandits who reside there. 2. financial backing. we need supplies and sell swords. Every coin invested, increases our chance for success. *hiccup*
"I am not sure if we have men to spare. The only ones we have left are the ones that were too weak or too poor to leave the town when the dark riders took over. With regards to supplies, we do not have much as the merchants have stopped delivering goods to this town. They do however deliver goods to the manor every once and a while and we are able to get the scraps.
With regards to the manor, I believe it is three levels. It is surrounded by a fence with only a single gate that goes into the courtyard from the outside. There also could be another way. When I was a kid, one of the Lumbatet's kids would always sneak out to come play in town. She said she used a cave in order to sneak out so she didn't have to go to the guards. The only cave I know of is to the east not to far from here, if you would like to try that, but I can not guarantee it will succeed since I have never been in there before. There is an undead horde of zombies and skeletons that patrols the courtyard. My guess would be around 25. They seem to attack anything that comes near and will easily over run you if you don't have a plan. That is the best information I can give you at the moment."
Well I for one love to charge into battle giving no heed to danger, but it seems that this cave is worth exploring. A secret entrance would give us the element of surprise.
Yes, the information you have givin us will be most helpful. *hiccup* But if we hope to succeed in the liberation of myrtlegrove and its people, we require their assistance in creating a distraction. While our party takes the cave entrance and sneak into the manor, you and a select team, will need to light the courtyard ablaze. You wont need many men, but stealth and precision are of vital importance. Gather what oil and kindling you can, get as close as your men are able, set the fire, and run. *hiccup*
TT turns into a turtle and moves to a nearby sunny opening in the trees. She basks in the sun and awaits for some local birds to land on her shell. She then starts speaking to the birds asking them about the nearby caves. The birds warn her that the cave is full nasty orcs, kobolds and other creatures that are constantly fighting over who gets to call it home. The bats leave the cave at night though which make it a bit safer to travel into them. She then returns to the town to take a long rest a prepare for the evening.
As the evening sun slowly sets, the party prepares and heads outside the city and to the cave. They approach a small opening just where the mayor said it would be. They can feel the cool embrace of the underground as they approach. As they enter just barely into the cave, they find they are quickly met with a choice right off the bat. Left or right?

Nedrick holds his hooded lantern casting a 30 ft radius of light. He also holds his Rapier in the other hand. He awaits a command and once he begins walking he will scan the ground for pitfalls and tripwires.

We strike tonite!
"We can do that. As a lumbering town, we always have things to burn. We will begin on your mark. Just let me know what time you would like to start."
Rhaucred listens excitedly and watches with eyes of wonder and Mort coerces the mayor and forms a plan of attack.
"I would have to agree with Hunding, the necromancer seems quite powerful. Let's try that cave and see if wr can avoid some part of the danger."
