"I believe we should go check on the half-orc. At the very least let him know there are people trying to get to the bottom of this." She'll wait for input from the group.
Falaine will notice in the reflection of the bell that she's mistakenly selected the wrong eye color and shifts one eye back to what it was yesterday. If anyone notices she'll play it off that she's always had differently colored eyes.
Tanni returns to the others and, after Quentin, shares her findings. "Nothing special about the bell, apart from its age. Seems very old, ancient even. Something powerful struck the bell. There was a dent left by something blunt and curved that caused the bell to fracture." Tanni nods at Falaine's suggestion. "Yes, that's a good idea. Maybe they can tell us something more."
Quentin nods along, listening to the others' findings. "Let's make for the barracks then. I'd like to know if Zynphura is all right after being attacked and if the driver is coherent maybe he can remember at all what happened prior to his outburst on the road. Afterwards I think it may be prudent to speak with Messenger Krusk once Shamara's service is over for today." Quentin gestures to the church by leaning his head. His owl, Daz, hoots and rubs up again it. "He had some insights into what was afflicting the man and hopefully he'll be able to tell us more on what could have caused the situation."
The group finds itself making way toward the barracks. There is a sense of relief as they see the festival is underway in full swing without regard to the recent events. They arrive at the barracks and they're greeted by a gnome guard with exquisite armor. For those that had been here before, this armor is significantly higher quality than what they were wearing before. This is also the same gnome that some of you may have spoken with before.
"Welcome to Holden Heights. Are you here for the festival?,"she begins her formal greeting as she's grown custom to through repetition. When she spots Quentin her usual speech is cut abruptly short. "You're back?"She says with a bit of puzzlement in her voice. "Is everything okay?," she asks in a worried tone.
Tanni would notice:
the symbol of Hammerstone adorned on the newly crafted armor.
Quentin nods towards the gnome in acknowledgement when she notices him. "Hello. We actually came by to ask you the very same. We wanted to see if Captain Zynphura was recovering all right. And... uh... do you know if the driver ever came to his senses or is he still detained? It was like he was... posssessed..." Quentin trails off a bit at the end. Worry over yesterday's encounter wit the man giving him unease.
The gnome, seeming in much better spirits than the last time Quentin saw her, nods. "The Captain has healed and returned to the shrine for her appointment with the Messenger. She's quite lucky you all showed up when you did."The gnome turns her head in a bit of embarrassment at what happened that night. She looks back to Quentin and says, "The halforc didn't survive the night. The healer was able to stabilize him, but he passed in the night."
Falaine will bow her head a moment in silence. Then say, "It's not right for life to be ended by something so unnatural. Have there been any other cases like this since?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Quentin sighs with both relief and regret and then look back at the gnome. "I'm very glad to hear she's all right and sorry to hear the man passed on."
Seated at a table toward the read is a group of guards dressed in similarly impressive armor with weapons at the ready on their hips and backs. The guards here are in exceptionally fine armor compared to the guards you saw when entering the city yesterday. You notice a large hammer symbol on the shoulders of each piece of armor that's been forged into the metal. You can tell the guards at the table are a bit uncomfortable in the armor. It's not because it's made poorly; it's because they aren't used to wearing as heavy armor as this.
As emotions play at Quentin, he pays little notice to the guards at the rear of the room. He does have a sense of relief that Zynphura is okay.
The gnome nods to Quentin and said, "The Captain has Shamara's blessing, the Mother wouldn't let anything happen to her."She frowns at the mention of the halforc. "The healer had the orc's body taken to Talia's to make sure it didn't pose any lingering threats."
Falaine will nod to the rear table. "If everything is fine... Why are these guards decked out like they expect to go to war?" She gives a 'I know you're hiding something' look as she waits for a reply.
The gnome laughs and says "Lord Rynholt had it sent here this morning. Said it was about time we wore proper gear. Have to agree with him myself though it'll take some getting used to the bulkiness."The gnome moves a bit and you can hear the heft of the metal shifting. "Probably just wants us to look better for those passing through. Not like we get much trouble here." She thinks on that statement for a moment recalling last night's incident but dismisses it as rare.
When Tanni looks at the armor the guards are wearing, she can tell that it is extremely fine armor and leagues better than what they had been wearing before. She notices that the symbol is attributed to her acquaintance, Master Hammerstone. The work is done exceptionally well and must have cost the Lord piles of coin or even a favor or two.
Quentin's main takeaway from seeing the armor is that the guards are all wearing it now instead of waiting for duty to call before putting it on. The guards weren't going to be caught unaware the next time there's an incident that needs responding to. Zynphura has most likely updated that policy due to her issues last night.
Falaine pipes up. "Where did that meat come from again? And how was it disposed of?" She'll look around nervously, sensing danger in the air with how armored the guards are and only hearing of the events in town second hand.

Sorry for posting so late. I've been sick and got confused what day is it.
