Pax, glancing down the left passage and seeing it’s too small for her is about to continue straight, when she stops herself. She glances back at the pseudo dragon with a “you know what I’m about to ask” sorta look on her face. 

“Hey Kaylyn. Do you think pensive would mind seeing if there’s anything through here worth our time. I know some mushrooms that might help us fit through here if she finds something worth going through for.”

Pax settles down with creaking armor, her rusty blade out as she looks to be in a central location she can keep watch from. 

Kastix takes a few steps toward the passage and listen for sounds of activity before marking the entrance with Prestidigitation with a small arrow that points back the way we came.  

Perception: 15

While Pensive was (or was not) investigating the passages, Dekkar made a few steps further along the wide tunnel:

Sekkar listens carefully, but can neither hear not see any activity in the wide tunnel ahead. There are a few small animal tracks, but nothing larger seems to have traveled that way in some time. 

Kaylyn: If Pensive enters the small passage, please roll Perception and Stealth.

After Kaylyn tells Rhayna about Droki’s fate, her thoughts go back to Sarith, and how she had to end his life. Her enthusiasm is slightly dimmed, but her spirit is still pretty peppy from the waning effects of the Lady’s Dream. “Well, I am not sure if this makes any difference.” She raises her voice slightly now so that everyone is able to hear her. “Unfortunately, I had to kill our friend Sarith. He was also touched by the Lady, but he had received her gift for much longer than I have. He was losing control of himself to the Lady, and he asked me to end his life. I obliged to his request, and I did what I had to do.” Rhayna says no more regarding the subject, for she knows that she may end up with the same fate as him.

As the group reaches the fork after the mesa’s. Rhayna knows that they are at the opposite end of the cavern in relation to the exit. She looks slightly puzzled at Kaylyn. Again, with a low voice. “Hummm. I thought we came here for Droki. What else are we doing here? If my memory does not betray me, there is still A LOT to explore farther north from here.”

"We're here to investigate Gray Ghost for one guy, possible corruption for guards and possible beyond and the dragon wants us to see what that one guy wants," Kastix gives crude explanation. 

Pensive hops down and with a nod and a bit of encouragement from Kaylyn he squeezes into the small passage.

"Don't worry, I'm watching with you." Kaylyn says as she senses what Pensive senses.  She'll narrate what Pensive sees to the others.

"Sooo... We are looking for a particular person?" Says Rhayna still trying to understand the situation. "I believe that I might be able to assist in our search, but I could use more details of this "person" if you have any."

Sekkar returned from his short reconnaissance mission. "We are looking for some kind of a portal and some very special egg, worth guarding. If on the way we come across demon-worshipping cult HQ - that will be a bonus."   

"There is nothing in immediate vicinity that way. Anything in the small tunnel?"

Pensive crawls easily into the small tunnel, and soon has room even to flap and fly, despite occasionally scraping the walls with its wings. Through Pensive's eyes, Kaylyn can see sticky white strands clinging to the walls, shimmering in the soft glow of the faerzress. The pseudodragon reaches a fork and stops to listen. To the right the strands become more dense. To the left the muffled sound of voices can be heard. Knowing the group's objectives, Pensive chooses the left fork and moves toward the voices. Another passage branches off the the left, also thick with silken strands, but Pensive continues until it reaches a narrow gap through which the sounds of activity can be heard. The familiar can see a large pit full of fungi, but growing in clearly organised rows and sections, as opposed to the random natural way everyone is accustomed to seeing it. Pensive detects movement, quiet voices and the clank of some kind of machinery, but further investigation is disrupted when the pseudodragon senses a presence behind it. Turning quickly, Pensive sees a dark shape looming in the shadows near the ceiling, drawing closer...

Kaylyn can relay this information in real time to the group, and also help Pensive decide what to do from here. Regardless of decision, please roll initiative for Pensive.

Pensive can act first

 Pensive turns and sees the dark thing moving towards him.   He tries to make out what it is.

But whatever it is Pensive projects such a strong emotion of fear that it is a good thing Kaylyn and the others are not nearby by.

Unsure what to do he takes a defensive posture and prepares to defend himself. 

Dodge

Pensive crouches near the exit, tensed and alert. The dark shape draws closer, and Pensive's first thought is of a giant spider, but as details become clearer the attacker has a vaguely humanoid shape with two of its four pairs of limbs appearing like muscled arms ending in clawed hands. What's more, the creature has two heads, each with eight beady black eyes and a shriveled humanoid mouth filled with jagged teeth. The horrific semi-humanoid arachnid sees the little pseudodragon as an easy meal, and attempts to capture it in sticky webs which it spits from one of it's mouths.

Web v Pensive: 14

Pensive is restrained by webbing. As an action, Pensive can make a DC 12 Strength check, bursting the webbing on a success. The webbing can also be attacked and destroyed (AC 10; hp 5; vulnerability to fire damage; immunity to bludgeoning, poison, and psychic damage)

Two more dark shapes loom in the tunnel, flanking the first, but these appear to be normal-looking spiders, albeit very large. Despite their size, they manage to squeeze through the narrow jagged tunnel.

Kaylyn,  sensing and seeing what Pensive sees, gasps in horror as the tiny dragon is covered in webbing and the 2 headed spider thing moved closer. 

"Pensive!  No!" She almost screams as she temporarily dismisses Pensive and he disappears into a pocket dimension.  A few seconds later she summons him back next to her.

"I'm sorry Pensive!" She sobs "I'm sorry you were in danger."

If the others question what happened it takes a few minutes for her to tell them of the two headed spider and the webs.

Pax, her weapon out, stands before the chasm....glaring into it. Then she turns and says, "I'm glad your pet is ok. Sorry if exploring put it in harms way.  That way is barred to us for now, follow me."  She turns away from he cracks in the wall and continues north up the passage.

"A bit of fire could probably un-bar it," Sekkar licked his lips picturing the webs catching the flame, "but you never know with the tunnels. Can be dangerous." He was still closely following Pax, curious how the newcomer can truly fair in the tunnels and to stop her, should she try to get lost again.

Rhayna runs to Kaylyn, and stands next to her. She is not sure if she should console her or not. Rhayna is surprised to see Kaylyn stressed. She has always been to be the strong one.
