"Have you been around the lake, lately?" Returned Sekkar conversation to the matter of dangers. "We heard rumours, something affected kuo-toa there. Made them dangerous, mad even. Any words on that?"
Perhaps Blurg hasn't noticed Shuushar tailing at the back of the group, or perhaps he has noticed but assumed the kuo-toa hermit doesn't speak Common. Either way, he sounds a bit indelicate as he replies: Hmph, curious you should ask. I was near the Darklake recently, but not near their village. They are always rather eccentric, and rarely dangerous. However, I had heard that there was some new god being worshiped, and that religious fervour had grown somewhat intense. I don't expect such affairs would trouble outsiders though.

"Unless thous outsiders planned to visit the village - it should not." Sekkar called their zen companion forward (in Common). "Shuushar, are you still sure you want to go to Sloobludop?"Lizardman already placed Blurg into "no immediate danger" category and did not see anymore the need to hide names or directions. "Kind traveller says they have a new god there. Changing a god - never easy. Never good either. Makes the best folk crazy."
Shuushar's grasp of Common is very limited, but he replies in his gargling voice: Con-flict great always they feel. Teach them har-mony, u-nity I will. Go there I must. As feel you best do you should.

"I guess we are still going there, then," shrugged Sekkar, and added remembered politeness "thank you for warning." He studied the maps, Blurg shared with them, making mental notes of the potential danger, distances and probable shortcuts. Idle cultural exchanges and admiration interested him no more than abstract noble causes - meaning, not in the least, but useful outcomes in a form of practical knowledge were welcomed.
Kaylyn had been very quiet as the party moved deeper into the Underdark. While initially elated to have been freed from the prison the longer they spent under ground the quieter she got. She recalled Pensive and allowed the familiar to perch on her shoulder or fly ahead and scout. She remained alert to her surroundings and the paths they had taken. She spent much of her time conversing with Pensive in her mind and getting to know him better. Her connection to him kept her with a level of happiness that she may have lost without him in the endless dark.
When they met Blurgg she continued to remain quiet but listened carefully to the conversations. When given the opportunity she studied the maps with diligence to memorize as much as possible.
BACKGROUND
Outlander
Feature: Wanderer
You have an excellent memory for maps and geography, and you can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and other features around you. In addition, you can find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.
Eventually though she did speak. "I am apprehensive to deal with these people if they are in the midst of some sort of upheaval regrading their gods. But at the same time I do not wish to take the long way around. We must be wary and try not to involve ourselves in their troubles."
Upon hearing about Neverlight Grove. "Did you hear that Stool? At the very least we have a place to start. Is that where you came from?" Rhayna smiles to Stool, trying to make it more at ease. Since they are travelling at a slower pace, she lets the myconid walk by itself.
When the orog scholar asks for her Journal, Rhayna is taken aback. No one has ever shown any interest in examining it. She finds it interesting that the first time she shares her Journal, it would be in the Underdark. After Blurg's comments regarding her findings of the Citadel, Rhayna clearly blushes. "Ohh... It is very kind of you." She tries to hide her embarrassment. "It is just my humble findings, nothing extraordinary... I am sure any traveller with a passing interest in history would have come to the same conclusions." She clears her throat, and fixes her glasses. "Perhaps, after I help little Stool here find its home, it would be a great honor to have an opportunity to meet the head of your Society." She bows slightly to Blurg.

After hours of walking and talking it is time to rest. The tunnels have widened, although they offer little in the way of shelter in which to make camp, so the group relies on Kastix and Zeno, with the help of Derendil, to scout out the tunnel ahead and ensure its safety. Without the burden of walking, Kaylyn and Sekkar are able to take time poring over Blurg's maps as he points out key features to aid future navigation, with Sarith adding what he can. Rhayna, Joetaro and Shuushar set up the camp and use a small amount of the new rations to prepare a more lively meal than they've had in some time, as Stool watches on.
It is during the second watch of the night that the presence of an intruder is detected. The first sign is one not felt by the five senses, but a feeling of dread and horror, which lingers well before the first sounds of growling and snuffling are heard. There is nowhere to hide, but time enough for all to be aroused and prepared before three gruesome creatures emerge from the tunnel the group has already travelled. One is so large it is almost impossible to imagine how it managed to squeeze through the cramped passages. Its 8-foot-tall shape is somewhat simian, but its fur glistens blood-red even in the darkness, and its arms and upper body are grotesquely swollen. Flanking it are two creatures even more revolting but only half the size, with oozing green skin and pig-like snouts. As they catch sight of those whose scent they have been following for hours, they all release terrible hungry roars and charge at the group. Blurg sees the approach and quietly says: Conflict can oftentimes be resolved by diplomacy. This is not one of those times ... and he leaps to the fore, issuing his own bellow of rage as he swings his axe at the towering demon...

With Pensive curled around her shoulders Kaylyn crouches low and moves 30 feet directly away from the creatures (unless initiative order puts her in melee and this would provoke an AoO). She then summons her power and sends a blast of magic directed at the big creature.
