Xandar followed the rest of the group, keeping a keen eye at his surroundings to look for anything suspicious in the forest. "Whatever this thing is, it keeps itself rather busy.", the warrior said to his companions. "Let's not waste time! Tamoda, do you think you can follow these tracks?"
The tracks are large and easy to spot, but there are a number of prints along the same trail that branch off, into three main paths leading deeper into the forest; left, right, and center.
During this time, the members of the other group rally, joining up with their compatriots at the woods edge, and begin discussing which path to take amongst themselves.
"Good as any", agrees Sihnion. "But maybe we should leave something on the other trails that will indicate if the beast has passed this way whilst we are exploring that trail? Like a vine strung across the path."
He wasn't a hundert percent positive if Tamoda knew what he was doing, but knowig that he himself didn't have any clue how to rack beasts in the woods, Xandar was willing to follow his lead. "Just make sure you got the right track.", Xandar said jokingly.

Gotemash - blazes all 3 trails indicating the left as the one we are following, and the other 2 as possibilities.
That's the thing, Xander, I really don't know one way or the other. I'm choosing the left path instead of dithering about it.
Thank you folks, for the warm fuzzy thoughts. :) and you Grim for confuzzling the trail for the other team. If any of them can sort out this mash then more power to them :)
And with that he sets off at a normal pace looking for signs of the beast, any victims, or indications that the trail they were following was cold.
The other team look up from their discussion nearby as Grim scuffs and buries tracks. They collectively look at you with faces that are hard to place. Perhaps a cross between exasperated and confused?
Then a look of realization hits the Halfling. "Wait, where's the other team? They... they wouldn't have gone off last night, would they?" He asks, looking around for an answer amongst his peers, before turning to look at the foot.
You travel down the left trail, the tracks becoming scarcer and scarcer as mud gives way to ferns, fallen trees, grass and patches of moss. As you approach a clearing with a river you hear hissing.

Sihnion lets out a relieved sigh. He wonders if that is normal behaviour for badgers and lizards and if, for that matter, he has ever encountered such a hound-like lizard before.
You've never seen nor heard reports of these creatures in the kingdom before. They might simply be rare, or were perhaps smuggled into the kingdom, maybe wandered in themselves. But you notice the lizard's blue colorations on it's belly, it's orange stripes on it's head, and it's size; 4 feet long, with an extra 2 in tail length.
The lizard and badger continue to hiss at each other, and when the badger goes to make a move against larger foe, two more dart out from the trees, tearing it to shreds. As the two new arrivals eat, the first one leans on it's hind legs and stands up, cocking it's head to the side, listening.
Grim moves to Thasla and Xandar. “If I told you we should form a cup, do you know what I mean?”
Grim gesticulates a cup shape with he, Thasla and Xandar would form around the beasts. “Keep them in the cup, and let the others rip into them from safety.”

Tamoda, starting from left to righ, looks at where the paths diverge, looking to see which path is more fresh than the others. Survival 6

Grim tries to mess up the tracks so the other team will be delayed figuring out where to go

Xandar halted, his weapons always ready. He tried to find the direction the sound was coming from and looked if there was any visible danger to them.

You see a long, hound-like lizard and badger, hissing and slowly circling each other next to the riverbank, each waiting for the other to make a move.
(Need a bit of time for the map, I'm on a bus)

Tamoda drops his pack, and draws out his bow and arrow, ready to fire at the Big Lizard.
Allo - we have a lizard moot
