Initiative order is below. Zubin, I see your attack rolls. No one is within 5 feet of the glowing mass, so you would not get sneak attack on it. Do you still wish to close and attack?

Zubin Chace
Zubin will close, but to a point near where it's likeliest that Shieldbiter will attack from. He'll use his action to ready an attack, with a melee attack by an adjacent comrade as the trigger. That should satisfy the sneak attack requirement.

As Zubin closes with the mass on the wall he falls into a section of the water much deeper than the rest has been. Zubin give me an athletics check to get out of the 12 feet deep section.
Everyone else go ahead and revise your actions. The water is murky enough that you cannot visually see the dropoff to the deeper section. You do know where Zubin fell in at though, so can use that as your guide if you wish.
Shieldbiter, seeing Zubin fall in, raises his shield to protect himself. He pokes at the water with his shield trying to find a way around, or at least where the edge may be.

Shieldbiter... The edge you found is towards the center of the room from the wall, about five feet away from the slug. Teh slug is on the wall, so on the far side of the deeper section. It seems like the deeper sectionr uns the length of that eastern wall.

"Buttered onions!" he half-elf swears. He rolls to his feet and realizes he's only going to get to this thing with his bow. He switches up and takes stock of the situation.
“Guys, the edge is about here,” Shieldbiter shouts out while pointing down at the water with his sword. “We can probably stay towards the western wall and be ok as far as the water goes. The slug however, oh crap!,” he exclaims as acid comes his direction.

He attempted to get his shield up in time, but wasn’t able to move quick enough.
He continues to use his sword to watch his step as he attempts to continue down the path away from slug, to be on the opposite side of the slug as his friends. He will use dodge as his action this turn.
”I think we should just bolt past the slug. Unless you want to kill it off. I have nothing but handaxes to throw and they’d be lost in the water, if not melted by this thing’s acid.”
