This room is constructed of large stone blocks, buttressed in the corners. The walls are wet and slimy, and mud covers most of the floor in a thin coating. To the East, opposite the door you have opened, may be seen a stone door recessed in the wall, and to the north a set of stairs leads down.
In the center of the chamber sits a large polished boulder amid a pile of smaller rounded rocks. The boulder is five feet tall and colored brown with dark streaks and spots. Leaning against it is what appears to be a bamboo staff.
In the mud around the base of the boulder is a moving shape, looking like a crayfish. It is facing you and seems to be aware of your presence.
Ethan, also at the back of the group, waits to learn what is going on. After a moment he brings his familiar out of its dimentional space and sends the Tressym flying above the group and into the room beyond. The Tressym gives him a description of the creature, which Ethan then tries to determine what it is..
Nature: 9
"I don't recognize it..." Ethan whispers to Larry. He gives Larry a description of the room ahead though, including the creature.
The creature moves towards the door just a bit, then starts gabbling in a language none of you recognize. Once it speaks it moves back, clearly waiting for your response.
Sinsil will use her Scribe's Insight to cast comprehend languages. She'll then start saying in every language she knows. "Please repeat your question, I can understand you now."
After the creature moves back from the group, a series of splashes appear as something moves from near the doorway and into the room a bit further. The creature looks upset at this and calls out in the strange language again, looking more and more hostile as the mud splashes move further into the room.
Sinsil would hear the following:
"You dare enter the chamber of the guardian!" The creature is clearly upset. "Be gone now or I will be forced to uphold my sacred duty..."
Cas does not find anything off about the door and finds out that it is not even locked.
Cas carefully opens the door and peers inside
So far this session I have hit my teammates twice, flat-out missed 3 times, and only hit the enemy twice. Trust me, you don't want to borrow my dice.
Once the doors are open you see the following...

Larry is standing back from the doors towards the back of the party. "What you see?"
Sinsil will send an unseen servant out to the crab to see if it reacts with hostility to things splashing in the mud.
"So if those stone small figures grew in size anyone wanna guess what's gonna happen in here?
Nature (Int) check.
Do you have it as a prepared spell or are you casting it as a ten-minute ritual?

Shieldbiter turns to the group, "So is that thing talking or just making noise? Anyone understand what just happen there?"
Prepared. They are good for triggering traps.

Sinsil will say to the group. "Looks like it's a guardian and we're not getting past without a fight. So, ready and go."
She'll use fateful naming to cast bless on the 3 most melee centric of the group. (Assuming she knows this from working together before.)
