(ooc) @Skizzerz: I am personally waiting for you to change the scene and go to the cold case's office/unit. If you would like us to introduce it and to take some narrative's freedom please let me/us know and I/we will do it.

"Sorry I'm late, got caught up with an old friend I haven't seen in years. Names Theophilus Bagstock, y'all can call me Theo or Bagstock, either will suffice. I am new to the department, I'm an "old" war vet that got caught up in the crosshairs. Anyway, I have vaguely heard of this group, pretty sure they have a building that serves as their "church", might be useful to poke around there see if we can find any leads. Let's check that case file, see if we can get some background info first."
(OOC: I am a new PbP player, I have been unexpectedly swamped with work. I will make more of an effort to participate though!)
@Ivanchina: If you want to use a class feature (such as Plan), simply say that you wish to use it and what the effects of it are. Sorry I missed that you were waiting on me to change the scene; I've been very busy during the weekend and had very little time to post (this will be typical of most weekends, actually). You grab the case and start paging through details, learning the following:
Address of the apartment
Keys to the impounded car
Location of said car
Lots of pictures
The person's name (don't have any in mind, feel free to make one up) and description
List of co-workers, friends, family, and possible enemies that were used as leads. None of them turned out to be fruitful at the time they were investigated.
Phone call logs; no calls were placed or received around the time of the crime
Notably, there is not any footage from video cameras, as there are no cameras in the apartment's parking lot or around the buildings themselves.
@Everyone: If you succeed at a check and wish to share the info, you can tell everyone else to open the spoilers as well. Saves you some typing. So, assuming Scott is sharing the info, you can open the spoilers as well.
Perception 10
The images of the apartment are strange, to say the least. Multiple windows were broken in, and the report additionally indicates nobody attempted to pick the door. No blood or fabric was found on the jagged glass. You may make an Insight check, and open the following boxes if you succeed. You may additionally attempt a DC 15 Investigation check; if you succeed then you gain Advantage on the Insight check.
Insight DC 10: Open Box 1
Insight DC 15: Open Box 2
Insight DC 20: Open Box 3
Box 1 (DO NOT OPEN)
Criminals typically go through the path of least resistance when breaking in. It is unusual that the perp would have gone through a window, including making tons of noise with glass breaking, before trying to get through a door.
Box 2 (DO NOT OPEN)
Both windows were smashed so the glass landed inside, so they were broken from the outside. You cannot think of any reason why two windows would need to be broken, when one is sufficient to get in. However, the lack of blood or fabric indicates the perp was either very good at getting through windows, or never actually went in.
Box 3 (DO NOT OPEN)
The more you examine the evidence, the more you believe the break-in was staged. Combined with the lack of other leads, you think it possible that the victim may have actually done it themselves. As to why, you are unable to come up with a motive from poring through the case file.
Also, in general, if you want to grab the reins and describe something (NPCs, locations, etc.), feel free to do so. In the vast majority of cases, I'll take what you describe and run with it, perhaps expanding upon it a little. This is a very sandbox-y campaign, so I'll be mostly reacting to what you want to do rather than setting one straight course and making you charge ahead. If you ever get lost, let me know and I can help prod you towards an objective.
Scott runs through the papers with clinic eyes, looking for something unusual (Perception check: 22). The desk is pretty small for his team, and the flickering bulb on their heads leave no more helps, sure no-one planned to spent so much time here and the room is almost fill with old shelves, plenty of cases.
"So, James Spander, ok, nice to see your case finally, lets see if you are linked to these Disciples...and maybe, we could find you..."
"Take a look on the pictures, and, huh Theo, the church, yeah, could be a good lead, just check these file and than see if we need to split up..."
(ooc): @Skizzarz, I dont understand the boxes since we have only one target, its an example or what? and for the other players, yes I share all the informations found in the spoiler or, if you prefer, just read it if someone of us hit the related check

Mark uses Scott's expert examination of the photograph as a jumping off point to begin his own investigations. This guy seems really good at finding these things. Glad I've got him around while getting used to all of this up here. "Sure is strange that there ain't any video cameras. Might be jus' what our perp needed to make this the stage. I wonder if there's anything else what maybe we can figure out..."
Mark sits back and sighs. I never was much good at detectiving, that's why I joined the force. "Sorry fellas, guess I'm gettin' a little bit rusty. Hopefully some of y'all get a better handle on the situation."

Perception Check: 10
Theo clears his throat. "Yea, that's the church I was talking about Scott. We can split up, poke around, see if we can see anything, maybe slip inside through these broken windows in the pic."
"Anyone want to come with me and see what we can find?"
(As a note, if someone succeeds at a check and has time to share the info -- assume this is the case unless I specify otherwise -- feel free to open all of the spoilers that they would have seen. It'll be a bit easier than them just copy/pasting everything. For example, Scott succeeded at the Perception check, so you can open that spoiler and attempt the Investigation/Insight checks yourself. As such, Theo should make those checks; I've rolled them below for expediency's sake. If they happen to be good enough, open the relevant boxes. Then let me know what everyone is planning on doing next)
Theo searches for clues in the pictures and case files (Intelligence+Investigation): 12
Theo tries to puzzle out what all of that means (Wisdom+Insight): 12
Roll the dice and play the game, I’m not here to listen to your politics.
“But this isn’t right. You’re meant to charge in, sword drawn, banner flying-that’s what all the other knights did!” “Yeah, right before they burst into flame.”
Doc says to himself "why make all that noise busting the window when the door would be easier to conceal?"
Doc notices the keys to the impounded car and hollars down the hall to the rest of the team "Hey guys I'm going down to impound to look at this car!" As he grabs the keys. "Anyone else want to come along?"

(ooc): @Johnny: Since you pass Perception check, roll for Investigation to hit 15 and have advantage on the next roll...Insight...or Skizzerz could do it in case, just before move to the car in case, to have all the "possible" information and...yeah, we all have good bonus on these checks but dice are cruel, we know, they support thread 3 :D
Mark quickly stands up, his expression changed from befuddled confusion to one of interest and determination. "Sure thing, Doc. A little action an' investigation might be jus' what we need 'round here." He pauses and turns to Theo. "If my memory is correct, the impound ain't too far from that church...maybe we could swing by on the way back? Though I'd pers'nally prefer gettin' all the paperwork and warrants sorted out afore we actually go inside. There's an order to these things an' it falls on us to be responsible- fortunately, we're already at the police department."
Mark grins to himself. Finally, maybe things'll get a bit more interestin' around here. On the way out, he makes sure to stop by the PD investigations desk to ensure that the T.I.T. has full authorization to investigate these scenes, pulling his weight with Law Enforcement if necessary.

"Wait a minute, let me look at that case file again!" After looking at it more closely: "I really do not see a case for motive here which leads me to believe the "victim" may have staged this break-in."
"The question is why?"
"Lets go check out that car and the church!"
OOC: Sorry for the slow replies, my laptop hard drive crashed so I had to do a rebuild. I love the SSD over the old mechanical drive! Does this PdP deserve its own custom created campaign?

Scott brings the key and takes a note for the car location, ready and happy to leave this stinky office
"What if, all the announced abductions, they were instead a weird recruitment to the Disciples?"

(ooc): glad to waited for you Johnny ;), on the next move, the squad could move to the impoundment lot.
@Skizzerz: can we have some evidence kit? We should ask to our bosses? or Does the car was already examined for fingerprints before? Are there any info about this in the case file?
