You all come up upon the cave once again, avoiding the traps along the way. Callie you can see through the thickets again, the goblins still lazing about. Looking into the cave once more you also now can hear the sound of light whimpering from the room on the right, presumably from the wolves you know them to have but you also hear the slight rattling of chains. You are all out of range of the goblins and have successfully snuck up on the hideout.
As the cave comes back into view, Callie can't hide a small grin. "We're in luck," she whispers, "the sentries are just as lazy as before, and I think I can hear the wolves..."Still, that didn't necessarily make what was to come next easy. Looking towards Grum, she asks, "We didn't see any patrols on our way here, what's our new plan? Try to bait them out somehow?"
Brandor pulls out one of the rabbits from earlier. He ties a bit of string to the foot and hefts it like he is going to sling it towards the mouth of the cave. "Ehhh? Anyone up for fish'n?" The dwarf says with a scheming smile on his face.
You can all see the goblins now that Callie has pointed them out, and as Brandor throws the rabbit forward it lands in the stream and splashes, alerting the goblins (By the way, is it live or dead? If it's alive the goblins will shoot at it anyway). After the goblins kill/see the rabbit, they argue for a short while then eventually end up playing "rock parchment dagger" to see who has to get it. The slightly smaller one loses, having picked 'dagger' while the other one picked 'rock'. The rabbit's corpse floats down the stream further towards your direction and the goblin comes forward to retrieve it, about 20ft away from you guys and 30ft away from the thicket guard post.
<Squelch> takes careful aim with his crossbow towards the goblin still at cave mouth. When the party springs to action, he fires - hoping to catch the goblin unawares.
Attack: 26 (Assuming advantage for attacking from hiding) Damage: 11
Calllie is surprised, both by the suddenness of Brandor's move and how well it works, and with a quick nod to <Squelch> she focuses on the goblin going after the rabbit.
Attack: 24 Damage: 12
(Sneak attack die is already included in the damage roll)
Before it knows whats happening, the goblin is struck by the arrows of Callie and Squelch as it falls lifeless in the stream, joining the rabbit and tainting the stream with more blood. The remaining goblin doesn't even notice, picking it's teeth with it's bowstring again. Squelch takes the opportunity as well to carefully aim his arrow directly at the one hiding, and with precision skewers him right through his open mouth and piercing into the back of its throat, instantly perishing.
<Squelch> reloads his crossbow then pulls out some of the questionable horse meat. He creeps close enough to toss it outside of the cave mouth. He then looks towards the party. When they are ready, he mimics the same whimpering heard from the cave earlier. <canine whimpering>

The dwarf sneaks up beside Squelch and gives him a reassuring pat on the shoulder,"I didn't think ye had it in ya! Good shoot'n. How about round two?" Brandor holds his bait back up, still dripping from the stream.
He sneaks a little farther forward and has a look about.
Grum, who had readied his bow to take out any goblin that survived in case it ran and raised the alarm, blinks a couple of times in surprise at what had unfolded at lightning speed.
As <Squelch> wanders up, Grum follows, now still readied, peering into the cave keenly.
Grum: Just inside the cave mouth to the right, a few uneven stone steps lead up to a small, dank chamber on the east side of the passage. The cave narrows to a steep fissure at the far end, and is filled with the unmistakable stench of animals. Savage snarls and the sounds of rattling chains greet your ears when Squelch throws out the meat, where three wolves are chained up just inside the opening. Each wolf's chain leads to an iron rod driven into the base of a stalagmite. You also hear a deep and graveled voice, more defined and commanding than the goblins, echoing down the wolves kennel.
“Eat up doggie dogs.”
Afterwards some clunks can be heard and the chains pull again in a different direction, towards the noise. There is also a chimney-like structure at the back of the room and at the bottom you see some leftover food recently thrown down, more bone than meat. The wolves tear at it, then wait at the chimney for more.
The main passage from the cave mouth climbs steeply upward, the stream plunging and splashing down its west side. In the shadows, a side passage leads west across the other side of the stream.
So just to clarify my mental picture, currently Grum, <Squelch> and Brandor have snuck closer to the mouth of the cave. In one side of the cave there are stairs up to a side cavern where there are wolves chained up. In the side cavern there is what seems to be a chimney of some sort, which Grum figures someone just threw some meat down to keep the wolves quiet.
Can Grum see into the cavern with the wolves? If not, he's going to pick up the horse meat and continue sneaking up either until he can see the wolves or he sees anybody else at all.
Yeah, Im assuming you peeked around the corner to do so and with your stealth the wolves don't notice. They definitely smelled Squelch's meat but turned once the voice called down and threw food down. Otherwise yeah that picture is correct
What can Grum see straight ahead? Is the cavern to the side the only way to go, or does the passage go straight ahead too? If so, Grum will sneak past the mouth of the cavern (I'm picturing him crouching past the bottom of the steps and the steps blocking the wolves' line of sight?) just to see what can be seen further up - again stopping the moment he sees anything moving.
Yeah if you crouch low enough you can sneak past without being seen, but you can see that the chain prevents them from getting close to the entrance of the room. The passage ahead goes straight for about 25ft then curves right and you can see a secondary, much smaller passage northwest about 15ft from your location
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bartholomew is going to slowly sneak in, following the rest of the party but staying about 10-20 ft back. He is also going to look around a bit, though I don’t think he will see anything new.

Edit: I mean following <Squelch>, Grum and Brandor.

(My bad, I missed that, I should really be double checking!)
So instead, both enemies fall at the same time, the cave entrance now free of any goblin presence.

The running stream is rather loud up close, make a Perception check please (anyone else going up with Squelch can make the check as well)
