Chrys nods in thanks, returning Gilthur's command with a firm nod. "Thank ya kindly, and understood. I won't let my friends fall," she says firmly.
"Let's take a stop by Donnal's Provisions afore we meet up with Dundragon again," she says to the others. "Even if I don't end up bein' able to afford me a set o' nice tools, a healer's kit will go a long way to make sure we all stay healthy on this journey. It won't take but a few moments."
"Sounds good!" The kobold would say as he quickly sheaths his new dirk inside of his robe and scampers out the doorway. He would pause a moment and shield his eyes from the bright sunlight once in the road.. shaking his head a bit before continuing excitedly towards the next shop.
"Mr. Gilthur, it has been a pleasure." With a friendly smile, Kessdarra exchanges three gold coins to Mr. Gilthur, who promptly handed her seven silver back to her smiling, made-up face.
When Chrys suggested that they head next to Donnal's Provisions, she also found herself nodding.
"Agreed. And we should see about getting a robe for our small companion here that isn't about to fall apart. Having torn clothes this far north can be dangerous. No offense to you, Crackle, but I can't help but imagine that you've endured your share of cold nights."
Krackle would Pause and look down at his clothes. "No no no.. You have already done to much for me!" The kobold would say holding up his hands and waving them frantically. "I have found that if you find something big to snuggle up against like a cow or a pig, you can stay pretty warm at night!" He would add with a smile as he looks over his robes on the way to the Provisions shop.
"My da always said not to argue with ladies when they start shoppin'," Chrys warns Krackle with a serious face. "Said resistin' always caused more damage than just rollin' with it." She turns winks at Kess.
"How much are you planning on getting here? I spent most of my money at the last stop, so I can't help much. Also, you guys don't have to worry about paying me back. Just stab the bad guys so that they can't attack me."

Leaving the shop, you immediately catch sight of Donnal's Provisions, right across the street. Walking in, you find yourself in a very crowded store that's completely packed with items. Floor to ceiling shelves stock a multitude of equipment, clothing, tools, and an expansive variety of objects that an adventurer might find useful, all arranged in what seems like a collection of haphazard piles in no logical order.
As you enter the dimly lit store, a tall, thin human gentleman approaches you. He wears well-worn clothing of drab green with rust colored accents, and he has a jeweled nose stud, a thick, yet elaborately groomed handlebar mustache and wavy locks of braided dark brown hair. He greets you with a curious, eager grin.
"Greetings friends, and welcome! What brings you in today?"
"Master Gilthur from his shop o'er yonder, if we're bein' straight,"Chrys says in greeting. "Said you were the man to see if we needed some equipment afore settin' out on an adventure." She looks around, feeling a little overwhelmed, and her hand instinctively goes to her purse, which suddenly feels very, very empty. With a cough, she puts on her best smile - the one ma was always trying to get her to use on the suitors - and tries to act somewhat similarly to how Vesper always managed.
Blast... being sweet just ain't my style, she thinks uncomfortably.
"I'm just lookin' for a simple healer's kit, a good sturdy robe for ma lil' friend here,"she gently pushes Krackle forward, "and maybe even a hooded lantern, if ya got one to spare. Ya think ya might be able do a girl a favor?" she asks pleasantly.

Lumen stays outside, unable to take the feel of a completely empty purse and a store full of useful items. Come to think of it, he actually had negative 9 gold, because he owed Vesper the remainder of the 35 the armor cost... his 26 gold to Gilthur only going so far. Actually he owed more, because he went in on that lucky, risky, privileged transaction with Krackle. The shame still made his cheeks burn -- being unable to care for yourself and depend on others for things. These people kept being nice to him, giving him things, and not wanting anything back (not that they wouldn't be getting something back, and then some, to even the legder), and it took some getting used to. He still expected the charade to drop, for Krackle to drop the simpleton act and laugh at him, call him Bluetooth, and expel him from the group, or Chrys to start acting like a jerk.
Before he realized what he was doing, Lumen had already found a perch on a short barrel outside, his lute in his hands, his cap overturned in on the gravel in front of him, and a song on his lips. Busking helped clear his mind, and his body decided to take care of things while his mind was occupied. He went along with it, moving from crowdpleasers to ballads to catchy drinking songs, and not even looking at his cap, happy in the experience of creating music where there had only been hubbub or scattered conversation.
Krackle would quickly shut his mouth when Chrys warns him about arguing with shopping women. He would however smile and bounce behind Chrys, Kess, and Vesper all the way to the shop.. Occasionally looking inside his robe at his new armor and dirk before looking up to make sure he doesnt bump into a companion. Once inside the shop he would quickly move around the store, looking at all the neat things but making sure not to touch anything.. keeping both of his hands on his tail so that he cannot be accused of stealing anything...
"Then I'd say Master Gilthur is right! If it's adventure you seek, then I am indeed the man to see about equipment, provisions and other necessities that will keep you warm, dry, safe, fed, well rested, and otherwise prepared for any kind of situation. I've got it all. The biggest selection in town!"
"I do have healer's kits, they run five dragons each, and I'm pretty sure I've got a robe for your small friend here. Let's see... he looks to be about the size of a gnome, am I right? I've got a nice new one for one dragon and a used robe in good conditions for half that, or five shields." (5 sp.) "Here, let me show you."
With that, he quickly strides over to a wardrobe on the far side of the shop and pulls forth two small robes that do look like they were made for gnomes. The new one is a nice royal blue color with gold colored trim, while the used robe is a muted green with brown trim and stitching. It appears to be in fairly decent condition. The buttons are a little worn and there's a small pea-sized hole on the left elbow, but otherwise the fabric is in quite good shape.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"The green one is good!" Krackle would say as he quickly moves over to the used robe and begins to touch it with his small scaly hands. "I really like it!" He would say as he nuzzles the green one with his face a bit. He would then quickly begin taking off his old white robe and stuff it into his pack before putting on the green and brown one. "Thank you Chrys! These are the nicest clothes I have ever had!" He would say as he spins around and watches the bottom of the robe fan out a bit. The small kobold would then jump up and cling around the dwarfs waist for a moment before the sound of Lumen playing caught his attention. "Excuse me guys.. I want to see if I can help Lumen!" He would say before bouncing out the door. Once there he would close his eyes and scrunch up his face as he cast produce flame. Once the small ball of fire was resting in his hand, he would attempt to juggle the ball of flame and dance along while Lumen played his tunes.
Slight of hand for juggling? 23 If performance is needed, subtract 3 from that number.
"Oh, very well indeed!!! I knew you'd like it!!" Donnal says with a smile as he seeks Krackle's delight. He then goes rummaging on another set of shelves and produces a healer's kit and a hooded lantern for Chrys. (The lantern is also 5gp.) "And here are the items you requested, Madam dwarf. Is there anything else you seek today?"
As Krackle and Lumen perform outside, they draw a small audience of about five or ten people, and the casual looks of a handful of other folk who are milling about in the merchant quarter. Lumen's songs go over quite well and people are defiantly intrigued by Krackle's fiery juggling act. In the short time they're out there, they earn a total of 8cp and 7sp.
"Great! I knew Master Gilthur wouldn't steer me wrong," she says to Donnal with a grin as she passes over the money. Though there's precious little left in her purse now, the smile on Krackle's face more than made up for the expense.
"If y'all are done, I'm ready to set off. Thanks for humorin' my shoppin' whims,"she adds. Strolling out of the store, she leans against a wall and watches Lumen and Krackle performing with a smile. When they finish their set, she makes sure to clap hard, before sticking her fingers in her mouth and whistling loudly in appreciation.
As the crowd claps after they finish their song, Krackle would quickly duck behind the half orc as though trying to direct the applause towards Lumen. Seeing Chrys emerge from the shop, Krackle would quickly scamper towards the dwarf and nod. "i am ready to go! What do you think we will have for lunch?!" He would ask as he pats his small stomach.
Lumen bows, almost forgetting that people might be listening, and smiles. He gathers up his things and tries his best to drop the new coins in the pockets of Krackle's new robe (sleight of hand: 16). "That was some very nice juggling, my friend! They loved it!" He's ready to go to the magic shop.
After completing your transaction with Donnal, the rest of you head outside to watch the rest of Lumen and Krackle's busking performance. As they finish and pocket the coins they earned, the small crowd in front of them disperses.
At this point, it's getting close to lunch time, so you make your way over to Master Dundragon's establishment, The Crimson Robe. It's in the same area, just at the end of the street from the other shops. When you arrive, Nicolas answers the door and greets you with a smile, and lets you know that the Master will join you soon, as he is just finishing up his morning work, which often includes copying and studying spells, conducting experiments, crafting enchanted items and researching new magic.
Nicholas leads you to a small dining area and invites you to sit down at the worn oak table while he finishes preparing the meal, which he tells you will be spicy tomato soup with spinach and sweep peppers and fresh herb bread. He offers you glasses of white wine while you wait.
Within a half hour Master Dundragon appears, wearing a long red robe. His long hair is pulled back into a tight pony tail and as he greets you, you can detect the smell of lavender on him. As he sits down, Nicholas brings the food to the table and serves you the soup in fine wooden bowls. It's quite spicy with a pleasant tang, not too salty and rich with herbs.
"Welcome again, Pie Pals, I thank you for coming. I hope that you're feeling well rested after last night's excitement, for which I apologize once again. We do have some business to attend to, but for now, let us enjoy some food and drink as I get to know you a little better."
"Why don't you tell me a little bit about yourselves. I don't believe I formally met you all last night, so please, let me know who each of you area and where you hail from."
"Well, I'll speak for myself first, but my name is Lumen Vork, perhaps you've seen me perform with this lute before?"Lumen says, settling into his seat and sipping at the white wine quickly, with as many manners as he can muster. He's not sure what's happened to this strange, clear, flat beer, but as this is a refined setting, he's just going to go with it.
"I am but a traveling minstrel, a mere songweaver, who met these lovely people after a set of mine over at the Shieldmeet. I hail from, well, quite a bit north of here, and let's just say I'm a late bloomer when it comes to the arts. I was drawn south after some of my work was not as appreciated by my compatriots as it should have been. It's been a bit of a tough go for the last few years,"he says with a sigh, and a furtive, blink-and-you-miss-it glance at Kess, traveling from town to town trying to busk or perform as I hone my craft. "Why, I think I've been to every small town, hamlet, and village between here, Fireshear, and Castle Hartwick, and been kicked out of most of them. Yartar's the place where I've actually been getting some appreciation for my music. Anyhow, I met these folks, who seem to be looking for work, and they shared some pie with me, and we've kind of been on one task, adventure, or meal or another for the last day or two. We noticed some chaos last night, caused by your experiments, and we jumped in to help. I jumped a bit too far, and got the brunt of their fury. Our group was successful, though, and here we are. We may have another job to get to, but as we discussed last night, we took care of a problem of yours and that merits a reward."
He looks around, a bit surprised he's spoken so much, and so quickly. "But honestly? I'm here to listen. I'd love to know more about your shop, your work, and just what else you have going on. How did you get this shop? When did you learn magic? What do you specialize in? Do you give lessons? How did you meet Nicholas? What are you trying to discover with your experiments?"
