Happy to get her magic back but annoyed she could not leave the place as she hoped to, Al-Ashari trew at the creature first pair of spells that came to mind:
Action: Mind Sliver (archived) Int DC 18 for 11 (if works, subtract from the next save 2 )
Bonus action quickened [Tooltip Not Found] Wis DC 18 for 19 for the first round
Abolition disappear from the spell list (have to check my spell list), hence - another one:
Bonus action quickened Mental Prison Int DC 18 for 21

Merric grins a fierce grin as his weapons strike vital parts of the umberhulk. The Wicked Blade in particular had ripped a wide gash in vital artery...or was it a vein. Hard to tell on non-humanoid. The grin became triumphant as the creature staggered almost immediately from blood loss...of course the piercing wound in its heart from the rapier hadn't helped the thing.
A few moments later, the grin became a shout of triumph as Whitegaze brought down the other umberhulk. "Well done, me fren'! A bit slow, by me standards, but well struck all the same." The grin on his face took the sting out of the playful words. Even as the second umberhulk fell, Merric was turning to the caged ghosts...or, he saw as he moved to engage them, not so caged anymore.
Screaming his defiance at the ghosts Merric moves to attack the nearest, striking with both his weapons.
Wicked Blade: 16 Damage: 11, Sneak Attack: 22 [double Sneak Attack if Wicked Blade crits] Rapier of Warning: Attack: 13 Damage: 11, 1 of the attack rolls was a 1, which Merric gets to re-roll, Attack: 18 Damage: 12, please ignore the damage part of the re-roll.
Wisdom Save (Horrifying Visage): 16, 1 of the rolls was a 1, which Merric get to re-roll 11
Kale clasp appreciatively as the enemies fall before him to his companions, with relatively little effort on his part. He looks at Lia, still crouched on the ground, and begins to strum his bandore again.
“Baby, how do you sleep when you lie to me? All that shame and all that danger I'm hopin' that my love will keep you up tonight Baby, how do you sleep when you lie to me? All that fear and all that pressure I'm hopin' that my love will keep you up tonight!“
(BA undeniable logic, heal Lia for 11 and advantage on her next saving throw)
Then he continues to play for both of the ghosts.
„If there's somethin' strange in the neighborhood, Who ya gonna call? There's somethin' weird and it don't look good, Who ya gonna call?
I ain't afraid a no ghost! I ain't afraid a no ghost!“
Action level 6 [Tooltip Not Found] DEX 18 or 35 psychic and knocked prone, half on save
(And this is why I had to re-create Al-Ashari, Kale. You can not even see archived spells anymore. Would not be surprised if some Bards mechanics were changed as well)

Whitegaze will slowly sit down, the adrenaline of battle leaving him, as he sits, the others notice that his hair has gone white and he's visibly aged a great deal, "What did that ghost do to me? I feel terrible."
Kale surreptitiously casts greater restoration on Whitegaze. „Nothing I can see. Are you sure you weren‘t just knocked on the head too hard?“ he asks, acting completely clueless as if Whitegaze were seeing imaginary things.
"I think we are all a bit exhausted after all the battles." Softly added Al-Ashari. "But we got what we came here for and even more. Did you meet the thing on the Stairs?"

Merric slumps to the ground, feeling more exhausted than even after he'd fought that worm...the white dragon Makkaz. He hardly even felt the rain. "Ohh...me poor feet. I'm feelin' terrible, I am." Looking at the others, he adds, "Aye, an' you all be lookin' about the same, or worse'n, I'm thinkin. Praps we should be headin' back tuh the in, 'for another denzin of this city o' madness comes fer a visit? Time 'nuff there for a powow, yes?"
Tired as he is, Merric still keeps a close eye on everything around him, not forgetting the ground and the sky as well. This was a crazy place.
Whitegaze will shake his head as the feeling fades and his appearance returns to normal, “Well, whatever curse they laid on me seems to have died with them. Yes we found the thing, did quite well at first, and then it stopped being hurt, tried to drag it out here but I couldn’t. Anyway, we should get indoors and rest, maybe for a few days by the looks of some of you.” And he’ll move over to help support Lia as she looks the most exhausted.
"I can try to teleport us back to the tavern," suggested Al-Ashari, "but there can be some -minor! - risk in it. Or we can simply walk now, of course."

You easily slay one of the ghosts.
Lia stand sup, though clearly exhausted. She tugs out her rapier and strids towards the final ghost. With a defiant shout, she strikes at the ghost.

With Kale's spell the final ghost is vanquished. You are out of combat.
