Nodding to Peri in thanks, he says, “I am pleased to meet you all. Thank you for your courtesy, Master Fenwader, but I am no Knight. Gerrard will be fine, or Lord Feldren if you must. Shall we take the fight to the ogre, then, if your heroes are willing? If nothing else, he has custody of what is now my only clean shirt.”

The four of you stand deep in the woods, on a thin game trail leading east and west, perhaps 250 feet from the highway. The sounds of smashing and bellowing continue sporadically to the west.
It's cold and gray. You are in a sea of leafless scrub oaks, pricker bushes, brush, dead leaves, and half-buried boulders. A few large, monolithic evergreens stand here and there. There is no sign of life - not even birds.
"Well met Gerrard. Seems my fleet footed friend found you..."he stops mid sentence and looks at Peri. "Leader of. Who. When did..." He shakes his head. "Sorry, just this little half of a dwarf can run even when standing still. As I was saying, seems our exalted leader found you just in time. If assistance is required to reclaim your things, then I shall not deny you. I am Qivys, and since we are making up names for ourselves, Protector of Periwinkles and other strangely named beasts"A smile across his face he winks at Peri and then offers him a mock salute. Turning back to Gerrard "Are you in need of healing, that neck wound should be attended to."
”If you would be so kind, Master Qivys, both with help to reclaim my belongings and healing, I would be greatly obliged,” says Gerrard. “Fortune has smiled on me this day, with our enemies fighting each other to the west and unexpected allies coming from the east. I would hear more tales of your adventures over an ale when we are done with this bit of unpleasantness, heroes,” he finishes.

"Undisputed Leader in a dragons arse!" Dwal exclaims.
Dwal nods slightly to the new comer. "Dwal Fiercehammer Priest of Moradin and Forge Master!" Dwal states.
Dwal pulls up his shield and readies his hammer. "Ogre you say"? he asks. "I'd like to try my hand at taking on an ogre. Good tale over a couple tankards." Dwal says with a smile.
"I am pleased to meet you as well, Brother Fiercehammer. I take it you are the healer, then? I could use some aid recovering from the wolf's bites before we charge into battle with the ogre, if you have the blessings to spare," says the noble, smiling and adding, "But that means you'll have to let me buy the drinks tonight once the battle is over."

Dwal
"The Forge Master says to reforge and strengthen those in need and I will do what I can." he states.
With that Dwal will inspect the wound of the human. He ill then raise his hammer and with a swift motion bring it down upon the wound. There is no pain and sparks fly from the wounded area as Dwal casts his spell.
The path west looks a lot like the thin trail most of you have followed in from the east. Gerrard is somewhat familiar with the next segment of it, having been chased by a worg down part of this log-strewn path.
The trail soon slopes uphill slightly, and you eventually see it open up into a rocky, weedy clearing, about 75 feet ahead. The clearing is oval, about 200 feet east-west, and about half that north-south. On north side of the clearing is the boulder-covered summit Peri saw earlier from a distance; scrub and small stunted trees sprout from between the massive rocks. The clearing slopes downward a bit to the south and west.
You see movement on the far side of the clearing. An ugly, hulking giant is smashing a massive rock against a pile of boulders. He gasps and groans with frustration at whatever it is he is doing. A few smashed goblin carcasses litter the clearing. There are no worgs or living goblins to be seen.
You are still in the thin shade of the stunted forest. The giant is not aware of you. It is quite far away from you - a good 275 feet.
”Keep an eye out for that wolf,” cautions Gerrard as they move forward, resisting the urge to move directly into the clearing so he can see if the creature is stalking him.

Gerrard carefully scans the scene. No sign of the wolf. Just an angry and increasingly frustrated ogre pounding rocks on the other side of the clearing. As you watch he tries to jam an enormous wooden club into a jumble of boulders.
”I must admit, all my combat training has been focused on individual, honorable combat—this defending against sneak attacks and encountering monsters is foreign to me. How should we approach this combat, Master Fenwader?” The noble addresses the ‘leader’ of the heroes, still not completely following the banter between them that the halfling’s leadership role was by presumption, not acclimation.

Peri is barely able to contain his mirth. "Well, in my extensive experience leading this elite squad, my usual strategy is to lay out a cautious, stealthy approach. Then the dwarves ignore me, kick in the door, bash someone's skull in, and we go back to the Wicker Goat for pints. They're terrible followers, my subordinates are, but it's been fairly effective 'til now and good help is hard t' find, y' know? Anyhow, for the sake of tradition, I'm going to suggest we stick to the woods and skirt around this clearin' t' get as close as possible to the brute, then take 'im in ambush. That's the kind o' tactical prowess a skilled battlefield commander brings to th' table."
“That sounds wise, heroes, for a charge that far in the open could have unintended results ,” says the weary noble, though he looks too weary to charge that far across open ground in any case.

Amazingly, Qivys keeps both his plates and his tongue in check quite effectively, and it's Dwal's mail that is noisier. (Oops - forgot Gerrard's exhaustion. 2nd disadvantage roll: 4 )
Your experiment in sneaking isn't going spectacularly well. Fortunately, the ogre is both too distracted and too far away to notice you. But you still have a lot of ground to cover. You're now made it to the southeast corner of the clearing, still some 200 feet from the ogre.
The four adventurers stand in the thorny brush, perhaps fifty feet south of the path, in the woods near the southeast corner of the clearing. Your experiment in stealth has not gone particularly well so far. Dwal's mail clinks and clanks, and Gerrard is a bit punch drunk from fatigue.
The ogre continues to angrily bang large rocks and his massive club into a gap in the cluster of boulders on the west end of the clearing, 200 feet away. He seems completely unaware of you. The worg is nowhere to be seen, and the only goblins evident have been smashed into gore.

Continuing to follow the others around the edge of the clearing, Gerrard keeps his weapons handy, trying to be stealthy while advancing and keeping an eye out for that wolf at the same time. As they advance, he tries to also get a glimpse of what the ogre may be going after in that clump of boulders.

Gerrard squints through the gloomy mid-morning light but he can't see what exactly the ogre is doing.
It's just then that the worg appears. The huge beast pokes its head up from where it was concealed behind the boulders on the west, smells the air, makes eye contact with you, and emits a blood-curdling howl. The ogre stops what he's doing and follows the lead of his companion. They are 200 feet away.
Stepping out of the scrub so he has room to maneuver, Gerrard readies his only two weapons and prepares for the inevitable approach of the enemies, hoping his allies know what they are about. "What do you need me to do?" he asks in a nervous voice as the battle begins in earnest.
OOC: Plan is to move where they ask me to and either ready a rapier attack or Dash to keep up with them if the enemies are charging in. If he is given no direct instruction, he will just try and keep up with the others...he is new to this type of battle.

Peri also steps clear of the scrub and moves up beside, but about 15 feet away from, Gerrard. "Oh ho, there y' are doggo!" he calls to the worg. "I've brought me friends I was tellin' y' about, and they're keen t' give ya a nice pat on the noggin. Why don't ya come over and say hello?" More softly to Gerrard, "Judgin' by the blood on your blades, and the fact you're here and not in that beast's belly, I reckon you know what you're about. Nothin' fancy about this fight -- just put the pointy bits in the bad guys and try not t' get splattered." Despite his air of calm bravado, Peri feels a tremble of fear in his guts. The ogre is massive. He sets his feet and prepares to dodge anything it might throw their way.
