The ship, Farbern explains, belongs to the Crown. However if you wish to use it for Crown business, or if you wish to lease it for commercial business, you can bring it up with the Council, as it is likely available. If you left something aboard the ship, you are welcome to go aboard and fetch it. (OOC: Oceanus' crossbow was beyond repair, but some of the pirates had low-quality crossbows.) The Council meets five nights from now.
Farbern will happily take up Gerrard and Oceanus on their offer to scout the old lizardfolk den, but they ask that you wait and meet with the Council, first.
He doesn't yet know which representative from Seaton will be arriving to take the silk. You'll find out in a few days!
Peri isn't really interested in the musician, figuring that's a town guard problem. He wants to be done dealing with smugglers. He suggests they pick up a crossbow (maybe the Captain's hand crossbow) from the ship. He'd also like to try to check out whatever was gleaming in the bilge. He is very interested in the goblin hole. And he thinks the troll skull is pretty cool and likes the idea of displaying it at the house.
The gruff dwarf collapses into his bed after a big meal with his colleagues. He is still swaying from his lackluster attempt at sailing. "Kasmen" he says to the parrot that now sits in it's cage atop the desk "Sailing is for the elves. If I never see the deck of another ship I'll die a happy dwarf. What about you? You got anything to say?" When the bird replies with "Fat pigs. Kill 'em all" he just shakes his head and sighs. He sleeps, but not well. His dreams are of splashing waves and squawking gulls.
At the meeting he expresses his interest in the goblin hole. Although, as Gerrard has indicated, perhaps after a days rest. Or two if he's honest. The fight with the spatula left his shoulder sore. He had healed it magically, but still felt a slight tenderness. If anyone wishes to assist with the search & rescue of Fossie he will happily lend his hammer and shield to the cause as she had been somewhat respectful of the group.
Day 11, continued. (...as we continue to accelerate time somewhat.)
The meeting for Farbern and hus Guards concludes. You are again invited and urged to attend the meeting of the Council five nights from now, at which time you will also be issued your rewards.
Many of you are keen to revisit the goblin hole (and Peri would also like to revisit the bilge) but both Dwal and Qivys would like to wait a few days to rest and, in Dwal's case, study his new book. (You were also all recently promoted to Level 4, so this may be a time for your characters to study, meditate, and practice your newfound skills and powers.) In addition, Qivys has also been suffering from disturbing dreams lately, and feels the need to retreat into solitude.
So the party chooses to wait a few days before attempting anything too adventurous. But they do get some errands out of the way:
Peri and Gerrard bring the alchemist's golden items to Xondros. The highly intimidating (and rather unnerving) tiefling shows no interest in your golden trinkets. She does have some magic items for sale, some rather powerful and expensive, for those who can afford them. (Let me know if you'd like to inquire further.) She has no time for secondhand decorations, she explains curtly, and suggests you go find a junk dealer to bother. Or, maybe, Winston.
A second trip to Winston gives you some straight answers regarding the value of the human skull (20 gp), the apple (5 gp), the rose (5 gp), the set of five small balance weights (5 gp each), and six rib bones each dipped in gold (5 gp each.) The old halfling is happy to buy any or all of these from you at the listed prices.
More notes:
• Gerrard may also take this time to purchase a riding horse from the Tower, if he has sufficient funds.
• Peri can try to find some fancy new duds to buy
• Dwal is expected back at work soon, registering imports and exports at the wharves for the Mining Company, although he’s having trouble putting down the book he found.
• The property you've leased at Crabbers' Cove will be habitable enough to move in, in about 5 days.
• Don't forget to pay your bill at the Goat (5 sp/night). That musician from the Styes came by again at the Goat, you heard, but you missed him.
In addition, you may also take these next days to do any of the following downtime activities: - Carouse the local bars - Find low-paying work at the docks, with the Guard, in the mines, on a fishing boat, etc. - Explore the city - ...?
Let me know how you'd like to spend this downtime in town before (1) you attempt anything potentially dangerous, like the goblin hole or the bilge, or (2) the Council meeting
Gerrard wants to follow up with that artist Winston told him about and set up a portrait session so he has something to put into the locket. He will help Peri with whatever is needed on the ship, and is happy to be able to get Oceanus a crossbow from the leftover pirate gear if he so desires. After a day of rest and errands, Gerrard will be ready early the next morning to head out to the goblin hole and see what they can find.
Edit: Gerrard's funds are pretty low right now, so he will have to wait for rewards to be able to afford a replacement horse. He wouldn't want to take one to the goblin hole anyway...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gerrard is able to fetch a functional light crossbow from the ship, together with an ugly set of leather armor, which Oceanus was requesting. The pirates' bodies have been removed, but their gear sits in a heap on the deck.
Winston hadn't forgotten about the request for a sitting with a local portrait painter. During the downtime, Gerrard sat for four hours for an old woman who lives in the back of a squalid tenement on the water, across from the Mariners' Guildhall. It costs him 2 gold. Miniature portrait painting check:7
It's a questionable likeness, and the colors are a bit bright and gaudy, but it fits in the locket and is a passing representation.
OOC: Gerrard gave his studded leather armor to Oceanus (already taken off his character sheet) since the rest of the party was fine with him keeping the mariner's scale for now. If he would rather have the leather armor from on ship, that is fine.

Peri will spend some of this downtime looking into finding a good position for Elbin. He doesn't want the kid to fall in with the wrong crew again. He'll ask around the docks and the Mariners' Guildhall, and maybe check out the other taverns. He will tell Elbin to help the carpenters working on the cottages during the days and he can share Peri's room at night.
He'll practice his monk exercises - much more seriously now that he's been through some real fights - and read some more of the Flower book.
He will want to check out the bilge before the Crown representative arrives, so he'll try to recruit his companions but if no one else is interested he will check it solo.
He's also fine with selling the gold items (except the rose) to Winston but will make sure the dwarves are okay with it first.

Outside of the job, Dwal will not be seen much. He will spend his time in his room. If there is a knock at the door, Dwal will respond: "Not right now I'm working." is the only response he will give.
Dwal will make sure his new companion is healed and fed well. He will make an area in his room for the small dragon to sleep and live. One of the tasks he will keep at is to try and understand the small dragon and refine his communication with him.
(Does the dragon indicate he has a name of some type?)
Gerrard and Peri will return to the ship and check the bilge. (I'll set that up shortly.) Oceanus will come along also. Dwal, however, is holing up. Qivys also?
There's plenty of work to be had for a teenaged sailor at the docks. The Owland family runs a reputable fishing fleet. Eda Owland, whom some of you met at the last Council meeting, is gruff and crusty, but she and her family are known for taking in fishermen who have fallen on hard times.
Dwal's new companion can understand Draconic and Common, but cannot express language (only telepathic images.) If the lizardfolk had a name for it, that knowledge is lost for now. It is healing quickly from its wound.
The ship is still at the busy wharf where you left it, although a little further down harbor. A bored teenaged guard lets you on without too much bother.
The hold is empty; the extraneous contents of the cabins and the smugglers' possessions are piled up in a sloppy heap on the main deck. Most of the food in the galley and stores is eaten or gone. You see a lot of familiar things in the heap - the lizardfolks' chest is here (pried open and empty), together with a silver jug that must have belonged to them. Also here are Punketah's boots, the captain's bearskin rug, a pack of well-used, greasy playing cards; three old books, a pewter mug, a dark blue cloak, a lot of dirty clothes, and other miscellany.
Dwal will dub the small dragon Bjorn, and see if he takes to the name. If not he will go through a list with the dragon and see which one the dragon likes.
Dwal's little dragonoid seems indifferent to names in general, but will respond to "Bjorn" as well as any, when addressed. The winged creature enjoys hunting and feasting upon both crabs and bats, both of which are plentiful at Crabbers Cove. It has fully bonded with Dwal. One very useful trait is its ability to stealthily transmit images and ideas to Dwal telepathically from above, even in complete darkness - a very effective scout.

Gerrard sorts through the items that remain, with an eye towards those that might be of decent quality/value. "Master Fenwader, can you determine if any of these items are magical?" he asks as he begins to separate the items that appear valuable. Spreading out the bearskin rug, Gerrard puts the silver jug, mage's boots, dark blue cloak, and the three books on the animal's skin. Even if they aren't magic, he knows that they should be worth something, if only décor for their new house, so he will plan to fold up the rug and take the items with him unless Peri wishes otherwise.
On the off chance any of the items have historical importance, Gerrard will look at each one closely as he waits for Peri's reaction: History: 3

"What did you see down there before, Master Fenwader?" asks Gerrard, hoping to be somewhat prepared for what is down there. "Would you like me to drop down first?" he adds, making his way towards the trap door.

At the hatch to the bilge Peri takes off his new clothes and puts on just his old trousers. "There's something in one of the trash heaps that may be gold. Not likely Snake Eyes hid a great stash of gold bars down here, but something of value might have fallen and been forgotten. The crew clearly wasn't cleaning regularly. But there's some sort of worms or grubs down there that got all aggressive when they sensed me. I recall Qivys saying his crew ran into some serious trouble with some grubs -- sounds like a near-run thing. So I decided a more cautious approach may be in order. We're not in a hurry, after all."
"So I was thinkin' if we could lure the critters over here by the hatch, we could pick 'em off without riskin' our necks." He casts mage hand and begins splashing in the water directly beneath the hatch, watching for the grubs "C'mon you little parasites. Come get some dinner."
