It was Livly's turn to crawl around and wake people up with a very quiet comment "the thieves are back!" When the last one was out, she tried to keep to the shadows and wait for another signal from Brace.

"Wha? What?" Skip would mumble as he rubbed his eyes. The young man would turn and quickly check that his weapons were still on him before leaving the tent. Once outside he would squint into the darkness, crouching low... looking for the thieves as he tried to remain hidden.
Keth sits upright and looks back and forth trying to fully understand what was said to him. He grabs the sword beside him and stands to his feet ready to assist his friends.
No one is quiet as they attempt to be quiet. The camp is almost comical coming to Brace's aid as he stumbles through camp himself trying to be quiet. At the horses he sees Muffin has broken free of her tether but his horse has been cut free. There isn't anyone immediately in view however that he can see in the tall grass around the camp.
"Muffin.. Where you goin girl?" Skip would ask as he moves to collect the horse, no longer attempting to be quiet as it is obvious that they were all way to loud. "Any of you see who was trying to take the horse?" he would ask as he once again squints our into the darkness.. leading the horse closer to the small smoldering campfire.
"This is ridiculous. This damn brush is driving me crazy," Keth all but growled. "I am going to head to the road and circle back. The next time we camp we should stomp down all of the grass around us, similar to the corn fields back home."
He heads to the road, his intention is to both look for tracks and also probably end up going down the road some to enter the tall grass and circle back to the camp.

Livly responsibly checked the footprints (using a burning branch for a torch) without any hope to read anything (Perception 13 Survival 18 ) Then she tossed the branch back, stepped away from the circle of light left by fire and used one of her favorite spell Invisibility

Brace throws off any pretense of stealth and actively looks around to find those responsible. "They were just here I could hear them. They can't have gone far.".He searches for foot prints also and actively tries to discover the robbers. perception17
Ulfgar by this time has become annoyed that his sleep is being interrupted because of thieves. "Are you sure you just aren't hearing things? Maybe the horse got loose on its own?" Ulfgar asks as he groggily grabs his sword and shield. "Someone point me in their direction. I'll be sure to send them a message if I find them!"

OOC: Did Livly just set a field of tall grass, taller than her as previously stated, on fire?
Livly please roll a d100 calling high or low with the roll with no edits. She's not tall enough to see farther than the grasses she's bend down by walking on them/setting them on fire.
Keth notices nothing else helpful.
Brace notices a bunch of trampled grass leading to the road in the direct west traveling towards the mountain.

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
OOC: To set grass on fire you need to put some effort. When you walk with a burning branch you have to watch for it, not use it to move grass with it - one hand to move grass away from your way, and another to keep the branch from getting fire quenched. It the grass is equivalent of a haystack unmovable from the way - consider Livly not going in there.
The grass happen to bee too tall for Livly to go anywhere, so she waited by the fire while more toll party members would do something about the thieves (no Invisibility either then).
OOC: so using the burning branch as a torch. I think you'd set fire to the grass your can't see over hence why I said roll d100 calling high or low, no edits.
Livly remains by the fire as the party, minus Landrae still in bed, move towards the road.
Skip would secure Muffin much closer to his tent. "Alright... I think I am going back to sleep. Shout if you actually see anyone.." He would add before crawling back into his tent.
Brace continues to search actively for the thieves following their signs to the road. If they are still within easy tracking he hopes to catch them. If they are clearly gone then Brace will return to the camp.
The rest of the night is uneventful. Brace remains awake and watches Livly wake up before everyone. The halfling is quiet packing up her things. She thanks Brace for his friendship and tells him to tell the others she's sorry but the life of a mercenary isn't for her. She then finds a ride back on the road with a wagon of Wastelanders from the boat heading to farm the lands giving by the Empire.
Livly's leaving is sobering but the party understands. Packing up the party finds places for horses to carry the gear. It's not pretty but functional. The get back on the road quickly catching up with the caravan with the wealthy merchants and their guards. The merchants look hungover while the guards look bored. The morning is uneventful but the party decides it's best to trail the merchants caravan.
By late morning as the mountain looms closer the passage narrowing as the party sees oddly no other travelers coming east towards Sul na Mara.

"Well last night was kind of a mess.. darn thieves.... Maybe next time we should make some kind of trap to set off an alarm or something... like bells on a string or something like that" Skip would say aloud... mainly to himself as they rode. As the trail got more narrow, Skip would slide off the side of his horse and walk beside the creature. "I don't like this... This doesn't feel right." He would add looking around nervously as if expecting an ambush.
Brace is also worried and wants to understand why no one is traveling towards Sul na mara except for them and these merchants. (OOC: I would help Skips perception but it doesn't seem to need any help.)
OOC: plenty of folks traveling from the city towards the pass but no is on the road from the pass.
There are about a half dozen people on foot and another half dozen on horseback. There's a smaller cart catching up behind the group as the wide merchants caravan lumbers forward.
As Skip watches the caravan he can see a guard along the merchant caravan keeps fiddling with a mirror and a first it just seems like he's bored but the more he watches he then notices a gilt of something coming from the mountains miles ahead!
