If you think my puns are bad, I'll remind you, my profile pic says otherwise.
“Well perhaps you’re right, and you could strengthen my staff.” Kwisatz says, with a smile “Though I don’t use it as a weapon, I can’t have it break on me as I use it to support these old gnomish bones.”Holding the staff in his hand Duncan flies up and perches on it looking down expecting a treat, which Kwisatz quickly produces from a fold within his robes and tosses to his feathered companion. “A few days rest here would also be nice. Do you have a library of any sort here that I could go through to pass the time?”
((I only just realized that I missed nschrock's Insight check from before...my bad! But, you get the idea that Ghelryn is telling the truth. He likely doesn't know any more about her than he told you.))
"Aye. I'll take good care of it."
With that, the dwarven blacksmith takes the weapons from everyone and he and his companion walk away.
Go ahead and click on that Long Rest button on your character sheets.
You all can also level your characters up.
You spend the next three nights and two-and-a-half days clearing out dead bodies, servicing the defensive weapons, and listening to the sounds of hammers on metal. Ghelryn's assistant was sent out to send word to the rest of the dwarves that the fortress is cleared. So, you expect them to start returning soon. As a matter of fact, some started showing up the next day.
Kwisatz also sent word with Duncan (by way of a rolled up note) back to Phandalin to let Townmaster Harbin know that the mission was a success but that the dwarves asked you to stay and help clean up for a few days.
Half way through the third day, the hammering stops. The bellows quiet, and there is, yet again, another ringing silence in the fortress.
Ghelryn emerges from the back and you can hear him yell to you from the mustering hall (the big room on the first floor where the first fight was with all of the ghouls) to come to him.
"First off, thank ye for the excuse to fire these forges up again. Ye have no idea how good for these old bones it was to work here. Now, here is what ye've been waiting for." He turns around to a table that he had set up behind him with each of your weapons laying on it, each one wrapped in its own beautiful silk covering. He unwraps Andrømeda's axe and ceremoniously holds it out to Andrømeda. "This, is for ye." The blade is now seamlessly inlaid with gold in an intricate lattice pattern made out of dwarven runes. "And, don't worry about that gold. It's dwarven gold. It's as strong as any steel you'll find anywhere."
He turns around again, in turn for each one of you in the same manner as Andrømeda. He unwraps a staff and hands it Kwisatz and says, "You wanted something strong to help you as you trek, well this will do that and then some." He has skillfully inlaid silver up and down the shaft of the quarterstaff to look like vines twisting and weaving their way up and around it.
Turning to Rush, he hands over the mace. This one, like the others, is decoratively crafted with two-tone metal. The ball of the mace is the original metal, but the spikes are gold and the leather that wraps around the shaft has a silver thread woven into it.
For Sael, Ghelryn hands over the smallest item, - her boomerang. What used to be an all wooden boomerang is now half gold. The tips and the leading edge (if we picture the boomerang like airplane wings) are now gold with the inner edges (where the gold melds with the wood) shaped to look like flames.
"Again, I want to extend my thanks to ye for everything ye did here. Know that when the rest of my kin get here, I'll make sure to speak with our leaders. We'll be at yer service in whatever way we can."
Over that time, Kwisatz would have kept casting his unseen servant to help out, but spent his own time looking over the fortress to find any historical markings, or books, to read and pass the time, while also learning a couple new spells.
Andrømeda will have also been busy during that time outside of helping to remove rubble and dispose of corpses, spending time with some of the Dwarves who assist her with the delicate task of setting the claws from the bear she hunted down while away from the group into a necklace, and making a proper cloak out of its pelt. She'd also take time in the evenings beyond admiring the work done to her axe to properly attune to the spirit of the bear and the gauntlets they found in the chest.
I love it. We'll assume that anything that Rush and Sael needed to do in preparation for their recent upgrade in level would have been done in the same timeframe.
So, for Rush and Sael, feel free to describe anything they would have been doing to train to attain their new level.
How would I go about equipping the cloak? The bear pelt is a 'custom' item I added, but changing it to black bear cloak is all I did. Do I need to make a homebrew-esque item for it?

Sael will have been sharpening her swords ((should I ask what happened to my hand-axes?)), and seeing if anyone wanted to purchase some of the items she carries. Skinned and sun-bleached orc skulls, and manticore teeth, claws, or tail spikes. While assisting in the clean-up, she catches Andrømeda getting crafty and decides to sit down alongside her and make a necklace out of the one mimic-tooth she possesses. When Ghelryn hands over her updated boomerang, she finds herself experiencing emotions she hasn't felt in some time. Tracing her finger over the golden flames, it takes her a moment before she lifts her head and gives him a heavy "Thank you."

As one or two groups of Dwarves come in, you actually do find a rare collector of things who buys the manticore teeth from you. I don't have the PDF right now, but we'll say you are able to sell them for 10% below market value (from the monster parts PDF).
((I still have the PDF! Thanks for sharing it, let me know if you need a copy again.)) Sael always keeps some of her "prize" for herself, so she's willing to sale the Dwarf 80 Manticore teeth out of the 100 she has, originally valued at 10g ((So that should just knock it down to 9gp per lot/unit. Question is, how many do you consider a unit?)).

Since teeth are so small, we'll call 10 teeth a unit. (Imagine buying one of those little clear plastic containers of shark teeth as some tourist trap.) So, 9gp/unit for 8 units = 72gp. 😳 Nice.

Oooh...good point. We'll have to play with it. 🤔
I might have to make a homebrew item off of something else as a template and then see if I can make it shareable so you can wear it.
