"Agreed," says Umbriel. "They are testing us, and I'm concerned that they may try again once they lick their wounds. Let's be on our way."
Before they move, Umbriel will cast Detect Magic once more, first checking the cargo to make sure its still there, then taking a look at the undergrowth making sure the Wood gang wasn't sneaking around nearby.
Alright, the party quickly gathers themselves and continues down the road for a little way before finding a straight stretch of road with a couple hundred yards of visibility in all directions.
A short rest is had and the journey continues.
The 4th day of your trip is winding to a close. Umbriel estimates that you are about an hour's travel from Triboar when the sun stars to set.
"I think we should push on, unless anyone disagrees. I'd rather drop this off now than risk another night in the open."Umbriel looks around at the deepening shadows, a faraway look on his face.
The party continues on, walking to Nyx's tune. Everyone roll a DC10 Constitution Save. Failures take a point of exhaustion.
The farms, outlying buildings, and travelers start to get closer together as you approach Triboar.
Eventually you get to the edge of town (coming east along the Triboar Trail).
The first building in the map below is a large but rundown wooden house with lantern and candle light streaming out of most of it's windows. What do you do now?
The door opens when you knock, and inside you see a lone middle-aged woman sitting at a table. There are several other tables and you figure out that this appears to be an old rundown rooming house. The woman looks up and gives a fake smile.
"Hello. You must be just off the road. Welcome to The Six Windows, I'm Tolmara Hysstryn." She chuckles to herself. "Might you be wanting a room? No food here today! Or tomorrow. But I gots rooms. Cheap too."
Whistler, tired, almost walks into the rooming house with Owlbear in tow and suddenly diverts to a nearby field and slumps down with his friend for a quick snooze.
"Whistler is amazed at Not Baeshra, not Goblin, just Baeshra who talks Owlbear!" says Whistler struggling to mimic common and slipping back to some old habits for ease. "Whistler wished Whistler could talk. Nasty magic man cursed Whistler-kind so Whistler-kind learned new tricks. *Mimics Owlbear chirp.* Whistler-kind like Owlbear as Whistler know of magic men are evil to Owlbear-kind too!"
"No food! You better at least have something hard to drink. I'm partched and that is unnatural as a dwarf at sea or an orc that does not smell bad!"

Tolmara replies to Nyx: "No drink either. We got beds, and that's it little missy!"
Tolmara sees Whistler and Owlbear head off to the field: "Oh my! Where are you going little one? Come on back with your beast of a friend. We've got room for you."
"Yes, please. Also, where is the Lionshield Coster?"
"Come in then, how many rooms you be wanting? The Lionshield Coster? You must mean The Lion's Share. It's owned by the Lionshield Coster. Right down near the town square, between Wainwright's Wagons and the Norshield Inn. Whatchyou want the Lion's Share for? Most everybody local uses the Cart and Coin, Foehammer's Forge or Uldinath Arms. "
"Do you folks work with the Triboar Travelers, escorting wagons?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Despite his exhaustion, or perhaps because of it, Umbriel is a little put-off by the questions. He narrows his eyes at the woman, and attempts to discern her true motives. Insight: 2
Satisfied that she's about as honest a person as they could hope to meet, Umbriel says "I thank you, kind woman, and yes, we are escorts at the moment. I'd be remiss if I didn't say I craved a good long sleep at this point, but I'll sleep much better once our work is done." Looking around at the others, Umbriel says "I will bend to the will of the group, but I'm personally inclined to finish the job and sleep somewhere we can get a meal and some drink. I'll gladly provide some payment for the information, though,"and he pulls out a gold coin and hands it to Tolmara.
Baeshra stands up groggily, “That was unpleasant. I say let them flee this time, we should try to move on quickly and find a secure place to rest.”
"Agreed," says Umbriel. "They are testing us, and I'm concerned that they may try again once they lick their wounds. Let's be on our way."

The party lets the Maxx Wood gang make good on their escape.
Umbriel, you detect the same magic in the large chest as before, and no additional magic.
Is the party setting out right away, or a short rest first?
I think we keep on going for a little bit until we find a good spot to rest that is easier to defend and spot attackers from?

Ireniana nods. "I agree. Rest would be good and if we can' get out of here before they can come back, all the better."

"If it is only an hour then I agree. Let's continue to Triboar. An inn, and nice bed with company and lots of mead will suit me fine"
Nyx takes out her flute and starts to play a marching tune as the walk on.

She seems nosy, a little addled, but that's all you can discern.
She takes the gold, then replies: "Oh, it's already late. Surely you can resume your job in the morning?"
