Before we do anything, Umbriel will use the Rod of the Vonindod twice - once to look for adamantine chunks nearby, and once to see if there are any other Rods of the Vonindod around (just making sure we won't be surprised by another giant patrol).
Clever!
No adamantine chunks near by, and only the large Rod of Vonindod from the slain Fire Giant is detected.
A long rest is had, and everyone wakes up early on the next day (Consume a ration or roll for foraging of the previous day).
Umbriel stretches, and asks Baeshra if he's able to track where the trolls came from. "I don't imagine there will be too many - these giants had several trolls captured as ...pets? My guess is that they cleared out the nest to do so - but I'd like to make sure we don't leave a danger like that undiscovered."
Oh yeah, you find enough food for the previous day.
You're able to track the giants and trolls for a couple hundred feet, but then the trail disappears in a pool of water and you're unable to pick it up.
Umbriel says "I could use this Rod to locate something, but it'd have to be specific, and we'd have to be farther away from the site of those troll bodies. It will just keep leading us in circles if we're too close. Do you know of any objects we might find in a troll nest?"
Ireniana tilts her head. "Trolls aren't known as being collectors so we'd probably find bones and body parts. Could there be an object connecting them to the giants? Like metal collars or chains? I don't know."

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
(I say we explore the direction of the trail for a bit longer if everyone is okay with that, if we don't find anything in say, a half day's travel, we can return to the Calling Horns)
"Ok I'm over this swamp. We can't find any more because maybe that was it. We are done. Two fire giants and four trolls, that's basically an epic in itself. Let's head back to town, I need a dry bed, some mead and something warm to eat", Nyx huffs after she gets a boot stuck in the bog.

If you want to head back, everyone roll a Survival check for foraging (or eat a ration), and Umbriel roll a Survival check for Navigation to start the return journey.
Baeshra will take a watch as well, casually swimming through the swampy waters.

What does the party do now?

" My nose is pretty good, but I'd reckon if we follow the tracks those giants and trolls left we might find it."

"How many of them could be out here? And if we find more, I say this time we set a trap..." her eyes rest on Umbriel.

Umbriel walks along quietly, knowing that he owes everyone a round at the next tavern they find.
" Lets keep heading the way it seemed they were going, we've nothing else to go off unless someone has some magic for finding things."

So you're going to go in the direction it seemed the trail was going before you lost it?
Or going somewhere else? Or heading back to Calling Horns?
Umbriel, roll a Survival check for Navigation with advantage() since everyone is helping.
(I say we explore the direction of the trail for a bit longer if everyone is okay with that, if we don't find anything in say, a half day's travel, we can return to the Calling Horns)

Beashra would continue to keep an eye out for anything that looked like it could hold a troll lair.
Perception: 12
The party continues for half of a day, but is unable to pick up any sign of the trail, a troll lair or other fire giants.

Ireniana will just eat a ration.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Umbriel munchies on a ration as well.

Baeshra gives the others a strange look, wondering why they'd want to leave such a perfectly nice swamp, but will follow along anyway.
