"Interesting. Do you have an idea for how we might play that to our advantage?"Umbriel furrows his brow, trying to think of a magical means at his disposal to turn the whole party into cats.

" Well....if Baeshra can turn into a cat and get carried inside then turn into one of those lizard/bird/monster things the whole place might come down and then we just sort through the wreckage."
Baeshra nods, "I contemplated it, but I know humans can get all upset about things like that and wanted to make sure we were done here before causing a fuss."
"My worry is that mage. But if we have only two guards, Baeshra can you get inside and then get the door open? Did it look like anyone lived in the tower or was it just a guard station? If we have issues with the guards I could always try to charm them or put them to sleep but I would need to rest before I memorized those spells again. And then there is the lock."
"I think the less people that go in the better however it would be good if others are around to create a distraction if things go wrong."

Umbriel accepts the scrolls and gives his thanks. Agreeing with Baeshra, Umbriel says "I can't think of anything else we need here, but it would be best to get any last minute shopping or resupply done before we attempt this, in case we need to make a quick exit from the town. I propose we get all the rest we need, and then strike in the shadow hour just before dawn, when their readiness will be at its nadir. The items are already loaded on a carriage that is prepped for a hasty exit, yes? Why don't we just use the preparation to our advantage and steal the carriage? If we can get out of town, we can always dispel the alarm so as not to alert the owner of the items, then worry about the Arcane Lock later. We can leave the carriage and free the horses, with none the wiser."
Remember Othivor said that the carriage doors are protected by an Alarm spell trigger when they open, and the double doors to the carriage house are protected by the Arcane Lock spell.
Umbriel suddenly remembers Othovir's instructions more clearly, and suggests the following instead. "Maybe instead we dispel the Arcane Lock on the outside of the carriage house while the guards are distracted elsewhere, and then we find a way to get into the carriage without opening the doors... if we can do that, I can slip inside, grab the items, and teleport to safety."
Baeshra ponders briefly, "Perhaps a combination of plans? We can dispel the alarm and lock, then pick the lock, but not enter. Then Nyx can strike up a street performance while I go in as a cat and distract and watch the guards. At that point Umbriel can enter and grab the chest, perhaps under a spell of Silence to hide any noise he might make and then teleport out with the chest and shut the door behind him. After the bulk of the group has left, Nyx and I can catch up. Does that sound like a plan?"
"The alarm is on the carriage but the arcane lock is on the door into the carriage house. I could try to pick the lock into the house first..."
Remember, in addition to the Arcane Lock, the double doors into the carriage house are also secured by a large beam on the inside that has to be lifted out of the way.
"Ok than, that sounds fine to me. I believe you can use this scroll as well Umbriel?" Nyx says as she, with a little pain of regret, hands him the dispel magic scroll.
"I will sneak in, try to pick the arcane lock. Once that is done then I will create a distraction like only someone of my bardic skill can. Baeshra sneaks inside, lifts up the beam which allows Umbriel to get inside and dispel the alarm spell before he steals the items. If I can't pick the lock then you will have to use the dispel on the lock instead.. which will mean you will have to run for it but seeing you can teleport that should not be to hard."
"So lets get some rest and then go in the early morning?"

Umbriel looks around at the others, and an unfamiliar flutter in his chest catches him off guard. This could go very well, or it could end in disaster... and he discovered that he was enjoying the uncertainty. "Agreed, this sounds like a plan. I'll use this scroll on the alarmed carriage doors if you can pick the Arcane Lock and Baeshra can lift the beam from the inside. I'll grab the items and teleport to safety, and I have the scroll of flying if things go really sideways. This will be... fun?"

What are you sneaking in to? The Arcane Lock is on the double doors of the carriage house, which sits next to the tower.
Baeshra looks around for the silly druid before speaking up, "I'm here. Turns out, one of the guards is a cat person, the other isn't."

(Ah, I had it wrong, I thought the alarm and arcane lock were both on the box containing the treasures.)

Lyngheid just listened while she stuffed her face with peanuts and pickled eggs, she wasn't really mentally built for heists.
Ireniana listened as well, sipping her drink. "That sounds like a good plan."
