(OOC: Umbriel is just following Cronan, since he was the first to suggest a way forward - I thought he meant the kennel, but if he meant around the path and under the bridge, that works too.)
All that remains in the Kennel is one wolf, chained to the stalagmite. It looks like a narrow opening at the back leads upwards.
The wolf is snarling and snapping as you stand on the stairs looking at him. You can see that his chain is long enough to let him attack anyone that steps off the stairs and goes into the room.
In an effort to put the poor beast out of its misery, Umbriel will pause, whisper a secret word of power, point his spear at the wolf, and black eldritch energy will drift down his arm and coalesce at the tip of the spear before blasting forward with the sound of bones scraping across dusty catacomb floors. Eldritch Blast: Attack: 21 Damage: 6
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Initiative for Umbriel: 7
First round action will be another Eldritch Blast if the wolf is still up: Attack: 15 Damage: 5
If the wolf drops before his turn, Umbriel will move back to the entrance to the kennel and keep an eye out for anyone trying to strike from the rear - Perception16

Umbriel will turn to Rosie and say quietly "I understand your hesitation, but it was of two-fold benefit that we slayed the beast. First, we have prevented starvation and torture of the beast by its goblin masters. Secondly, by eliminating threats as we proceed, we ensure our own survival and the success of our mission." Satisfied that his explanation justified his actions, Umbriel will take the butt end of his spear and poke around a little in the piles of rocks and trash in the back of the cave, seeing if there's anything interesting amidst the offal. Perception: 3

You discover a copper gleaming underneath piles of garbage. You also find that the garbage seems to be coming from a narrow opening that leads to a natural chimney. Poking your head in, it seems to climb about 30 feet. It looks like a tight squeeze, but might be able to be ascended.
OOC: Athletics check if you want to try and climb it.

Yes, I think you are correct.
All that remains in the Kennel is one wolf, chained to the stalagmite. It looks like a narrow opening at the back leads upwards.

Alright, everyone roll initiative and post your first round actions.

How do you stay out of reach? Do you have 10' reach somehow?
Everyone over the wolf's initiative of 12 make your turn. It only needs one more good whack.
"I... I can't attack a chained mistreated creature." Rosie casts Shillelagh on her quarterstaff in case it's needed, but doesn't go in to attack yet.
OOC: I'll hold my action and if it gets loose, she'll go in to take a swing. Attack: 15 Damage: 9

Alright, that will work! As you approach the wolf with your Greatsword high, it snaps and bites at you: 6
Luckily the wolf misses! Your sword slices into it, killing the wolf. Nice job!
Ah, good restraint! Take an inspiration point for the character roleplaying!
Alright, the wolf is dead, the kennel seems empty except for piles of rocks and trash towards the back.
What does the party do now?

Whistler cannot help but growl like the dead wolf, cocking his head to one side, watching the blood trickle down his sword.
