"Fine with me."  Valen says with a shrug, uncaring of the type of reward as long as there is some sort of reward.

"I like me the sound of that." Mal'thrae chirps as the group celebrates. He takes a sip of his ale. "When can we see it? Maybe tomorrow; it is pretty late."

Rayner: " A property Master Volo? That does sound quiet a reward! And I had some plans to stay in the city for good. Maybe this is the answer I was seeking?" 

Rayner is delighted by this new development that in excitment says the next round of the group is on him! He tells Durnan to bring the special ale to celebrate!

"One hundred gold coins as a reward, but now a building instead?  There must be something wrong with it...  Tell us it has no roof or door, maybe some walls missing, and I will believe you would part with a building for 100 gold."  The half-orc looks perplexed, but interested, by the offer.

Auric:

Somewhat surprised by this offer, Auric is nonetheless impressed.  In his homeland, property is highly valued, so being a property owner is respected...not necessarily as glorious as a title or expansive lands, but it is certainly a start.  "Consider me interested, Master Volo.  What can you tell us about this property?" asks the Dragonborn.

 Why, 100 gold each is no paltry sum, my dear half-orc. And my book royalties are taking longer than I figured up... I purchased this house for some research for my new book, but you have brought young Floon back! How can you put a price on a life! It may need a little cleaning...been empty a while, you see. But nothing wrong with it at all! I'll get the meeting with the magistrate set up post-haste, and we'll take a look at it on the morrow. We'll meet here at noon tomorrow, and I shall take you there myself. And anything, anything at all you ever need from old Volo, I am at your disposal.

Rayner:" Nothing...wrong...with..it? Hmmm..."

Insight: 7

It's Volo, of course he's holding something back.

"Pfft, it's fine." Mal'thrae assures Rayner and Urukar. "You don't get an opportunity like this every day, if ever."

He raises a glass. "To the return of our new friend, Floon, and to the welcoming of a new friend, Melody."

Rayner: "To new Beginnings!" and raises the ale cup.

“To new beginnings,” toasts Auric in return.

"To..."  Valen says as he lifts his mug, then just shrugs and drinks.  "Shall we meet up here tomorrow to go and see this place then?"

Auric:

Auric invites his retainers to join in the fun, checking to make sure his mount has been well taken care of in the meantime.  He listens to how their day and early evening went, seeing if they heard or saw anything unusual or interesting while at the Yawning Portal waiting for his return.  At the end of the celebration, he checks on his Riding Lizard himself, then heads to bed.

Retainer's Investigation/Gather Information Checks for the day:  15 (+whatever)

Urukar toasts silently, wondering what this Volo person had in store for them.  He wasn't used to such generosity, and was generally suspicious of it the handful of times he had ever been in a position to receive it in his life.

Melody's already red skin hides any blushing she does, "Well, aren't you a thoughtful one," she smiles, raising her glass, "to new beginnings!"

(The retainers never left the Portal. They noticed the mead was their favorite drink.)

The next morning dawns with a slight chill in the air, though the sun shines brightly and the air is crisp. You make your way back to the Portal, where Volo is waiting outside. Ah! My dear friends. Well, we have much to do today...what shall we do first? Would you like to see the property? Would you like to meet with the magistrate and get the paperwork filed? Or, and of course, this is free of charge and can be done while we move toward either task, would you like my famous tour of Waterdeep as we travel?

Auric:

In the morning, Auric has a freshly watered, fed, and saddled riding lizard as well as polished armor thanks to his squire and page.  He asks them to tag along for the morning's events, since if he goes inside a building, it will be best if his squire and page are at hand to stay with the mount outside.

"Excellent, a tour by the famous author himself?  Wonderful!" proclaims Auric as he leaves to mount up and rejoining the group in front of the Yawning Portal.  Looking to his comrades, he suggests, "A tour of the property itself before we sign our names on the deed would seem to be in order.  Does that seem fair to the rest of you?"

"The property first, then signing the deed, yes." Mal'thrae says as he arrives, wearing a clean white shirt and new vest, seemingly more at ease now.

"sure, why not have a look at the property."  Valen says with a shrug.  "Doesn't really matter to me, so whatever you guys wish to do."  He would follow along for the tour of the town, but not be paying much attention to Volo, checking over his shoulder often as they walk around.

Rayner does he's morning chores and then joins the party.

Rayner:" Well a tour of the city, by the one and only, Master Volo? This is going to be a day to remember!"

OOC: If possible during the tour, I want to by Volo's book for him to sign, and by some new gear or have a courrier buy for me and deliver to the new adress.
