"Some sort of ...mound of vegetation that was able to shamble over and attack us. Immune to your electricity magic. Interesting."
He glances around, hoping they didn't make too much noise, and prepares to continue following Germain. He uses a cloth to carefully clean off his blade before resheathing it and preparing to move. The shadowy blade in his right hand vanishes.
Naroth dismisses his Echo and then walks over to the dead creature and starts to poke and prod inside of it, looking for anything of substance. Intrigued by the unique creature and wondering how such a beast came into existence.
Toc seems to know more about this beast than the others. He likely read about them at some point int he past, plant-like beasts that shamble around marshlands and forests, immune to lightning and able to swallow victoms whole. Naroth doens't find anything of interest as he pokes and prods the mound, even slicing open its belly only reveals a few half-digested bones. Clearly this beast was hungry and looking for its next meal.
Germain does not hear anything to indicate the sound of the brief battle drew attention of any sort.
The group continues along the path the lizardfolk left.
Everyone please give me a perception check as you travel. DC is 15 for this check.
If anyone ahead of you in marching order makes the DC above, then those after them can have advantage on the check. I.E. since Germain is in the lead, if he makes the check, then everyone gets advantage. If Germain fails, then Toc is next in line, and so forth. I have Taviel in 3rd, Ulric in 4th, and Naroth bringing up the rear. If that is not correct, then just adjust placement as it doesn't make a lot of difference in the current situation. Flying pets cannot help with this check, for reasons that will become clear later.
Everyone navigates their way around a patch of quicksand, the fact no tracks crossed the swath of marshland giving away the fact there was something there not quite right.
Continuing along the path you reach a campsite...
It isn’t much of a camp — just a clearing that’s slightly drier than the muck you’ve been wading through — but four wicker lean-tos and a stone platform (for lighting a fire above the soggy ground) command attention in this wilderness.
A few dozen yards beyond the campsite in the direction you’ve been traveling, dry land ends. Other than moss-covered trees, fallen logs, and thick clumps of reeds, nothing rises above the still, black water.
Inside the lean-tos are a few baskets containing smoked fish (edible) along with some lizards and birds that have been smashed flat and dried in the sun (very unappetizing to humans but edible).
Ulric scans over the campsite, "This seems too small for the size of the group we were following. Where would they have gone from here though? Further into the water?"
"Lizardfolk can swim well, if I am not mistaken. They are good divers too. Who knows, maybe their true hideout is underwater? But why would they leave all the fish here?"

Naroth would examine the "shoreline" to see if there are any tracks that go into the water or see if there is any evidence any rafts or boats were tied up to the shore.
Toc looks about, "Likely this is one of many camp-sites they keep in the wilderness around here to use. Leaving provisions behind that can keep may make some amount of sense. It would make sense that they go into the water from here. We can all breath in the water, so that's helpful, but....it won't make swimming any more pleasant in this mucky swamp, nor less dangerous. But, most importantly, it will making tracking them nearly impossible. I'm going to send my familiar into the skies, scouting around the area. Lizardmen do use fire for cooking and torches for light, so as it's getting dark, hopefully he'll be able to see smoke or light from their next camp location."
He sends the raven up into the sky, then finds a dry place to sit and wait. He's directing the raven to go "inwards" from the edge of the water for a few miles looking for any sign of their passage, or smoke or fire.
Taviel quietly exhaled. She would go with others if it would come to that but... Diving into the dirty smelly cold and pitch-black swamp water felt very ...counterproductive for someone without as much as nightvision (also, gills and a good thick layer of fat under the skin).

Germain looks for the deepest tracks, knowing that carrying that much treasure was heavy and would have sunk deeper in the soft mud, trying to determine where they would have taken it.
Naroth is unable to spot anything really at all about the land near the water. Germain though notices several scuff marks along that shore, which he is unsure of what might have caused them. Please give me survival if you wish to try to determine what made the strange scuff marks along the shore.
Toc's familiar flies a bit away from the camp and is gone for a while. When it returns it reports markings on trees in the water that seem to indicate a path ahead. It followed these markings a distance to be sure they were continued, but not far enough to find where they led to.

Taviel called Nissa back and came closer to the strange plant beast to look at the monster. Even went so far as to poke it with a stick.
