Germain holds up a hand, "Let me get around back, to make sure they don't flee. Count to 30 after I move around back and then head in." And he heads around the back, quietly.
"You should not go alone." Germain knew what he was doing, of course, but some backup might be useful nevertheless. Taviel went with him to the backdoor.
"Very well, cover the back, we'll go in the front. Quickly now, if we catch them off guard we may be able to get some information from them." Ulric replies.
Toc and Ulric Moving to the front door you find it slightly open. Pushing it open further you glance in and see... Just inside the front door is a chamber with pegs and benches for cloaks and boots. A set of rusty spears rests in one corner, held in the claw of a small drake statue. A closed double-door blocks the view into the rest of the lodge.
Naroth and Taviel Moving around to the back of the lodge you glance to the outbuildings, but leave them unexplored as you move to the rear door. Do you wait or will you open the door?
If it looks like everything is quiet, no guards, not ambush to suspect - Taviel would try to open the door with the Mage hand. Nissa is nearby to work as a distraction if someone comes to check for the noise.
(Putting this on hold until some items are figured out. Pace has become an issue here. I have been busy lately in RL and it has shown up in my games as moving really slow. My plan is to pick up the pace again now that things are slowing down in RL, but I have to see who all is willing to continue and if we'll have a game to move forward or not.)
We are going to back this up just a bit. Ulric, Germain, and Naroth, Toc and Taviel just disappeared back through the portal stone. They let you know the what and why of it, so there is no great mystery about them leaving. You are now all three taking your first real look at the hunting lodge and its outbuildings, but you have not moved closer as of yet.
Alhorn, Fletch, and Shei, you three have just spent a long half-day traveling through the Greypeak Mountains. The trail of the wagons were not hard to follow though, as, the closer you came to the mountins, the less possible paths were needing to be checked. Finally there was just this single wagon path up the mountins, which brought you to this hunting lodge.
It is mid afternoon now. The six of you will notice each other as you come into sight of the hunting lodge. Naroth, Germain, and Ulric are standing by a moss covered stone with a few white markings on it. Alhorn, Fletch, and Shei come out of the trees that surround the lodge, walking along a rutted wagon trail through the mountains.
Let's have all six of you intro your characters here, then I'll repost the details around the lodge.
Alhorn is a handsome half elf with bright green eyes, and a face that looks like trouble. His clothes are those of a traveler, but the fine quality speaks to some money. He has a pin on his jacket of a small pink bottle, indicating membership to the Alchemists’ Guild.
He looks a bit beleaguered, but eyes the new group and whispers to Fletch and Shei: “Do you suppose those are locals?”
Fletch is a black feathered Kenku standing at around 5 feet tall. He's wearing blue and yellow traveling clothing, with a hood pulled up to keep the sun and wind at bay. A pair of small spectacles sit atop his beak, and a heavy leather satchel is slung across his body to hang at his side. He looks quickly in the direction of the new group before glancing back and forth between his companions. He instinctively pulls his arms close to his chest, and his pace slows to place Alhorn between himself and the strangers. In stark contrast to his apprehensive body language, the voice that comes from his small form is deep and boisterous. The words themselves don't seem to flow well together, as if they were formed of many conversations and patched together to form each sentence.
"Dost thou think so? Verily, one hopes it is thus and not the overt machinations of -" The voice changes mid sentence to that of a brash sounding woman."An ambush!"
"Should we clear the outbuildings first or go directly inside?" Ulric quietly asks.
Toc glances at Ulric, "Let's check out the main building first." He sneaks forward and tries to find a spot to look in through some windows.

"It seems most of the tracks do lead to the main building, let's go there first and then we can decide from there." Naroth whispers to the group.

Toc doesn’t enter. He moves around the outside looking in windows. He also sends his crow to peer in 2nd floor windows.

(I'm still here and good to go on.)
For Taviel this is the last battle (if it happens), I am retiring her.

So Taviel and Toc are both leaving the game. I'll leave it up to the rest of you then. Do you want me to recruit or do you want to end it here?
(I'm still here and willing to keep going. Recruitment is fine. RL takes priority. No worries)
