Of course it was a trap, that much was obvious. But Bernard's sharp eyes noticed several details about the mechanics of it. It looks like sprung trap spits fire of some kind from the spouts within 15 feet of the door. The skeletons on the floor are of different age, most likely the trap is rechargeable. The spouts are not just wholes but a part of the mechanism as well and it looks like trap can be deactivated, providing you get the right tools and know how to use it. 

"Right, so flame type trap that comes out of those holes there.  And look at these two... they are of different ages so may be the trap resets itself.  My guess is that its triggered some way.  Could be a pressure plate, something on the door or if its magic then proximity could do it," Bernard says.  

He will direct him to stand back 20 feet and he will as well and use mage hand to tie some rope around one corpse and then pull it towards them and then do the same with the 2nd observing what t happens. 

Nothing happens - bodies sled across the floor and laid there motionless. The trap was not activated.

Bernard will then coil up the rope and call out, "Anyone good with disarming traps?  Or have some tools?"

Ramious smiles at Bernard.  "I'm glad you're here Bugs! Uh, sure, ya, now that you pointed it out, I can give it a shot..."  Ramious stops.  "You know, I wouldn't mind a breather.  What do ya say, can we afford to hide out here for a bit...those last couple battles took it outta me." 

Assuming everyone else is ok with it, we take a 1 hour break in this place.  Ramious will then try to disarm the trap. 

"A rest would be fine with me." leon confirms.  "I can regain some of my spellcasting if we do so."  He nods to the door.  "I can aid you at that if you wish, when you are ready.  I do not have the tools, but I do have some skill with them, so should probably get some for myself at some point."

Bernard gets excited for a moment and then stops.  "Oh, a break first... I mean, I suppose that's fine.  Things did get a little heated..." he says and grins after realizing his pun.  He then looks around for a suitable place to take a seat and sits.  

The room is empty (aside from the rift in the middle with the stairs in it, skeletons by the north door and carvings on the walls), so rest wherever you want. The party was quite noisy so far, but may be it's ok. 

Alyssa would have remembered that she should be more meticulous and taking notes as they went along. She'd follow behind the boys, quietly observing and scrambling to catch up with the notes she may have missed from earlier. Her nose would be buried so deep in her book, she didn't even notice the swarm of insectoids. It would take Leon's thunderous blow to snap her attention back to the present. With wide eyes she'd take a look around at the immenseness of the area before carefully following them to the next area. The elf would nod in agreement to the one hour break, taking advantage of the time to dive deeper into the details of her map-making and note-taking. Finally, when she was all caught up, Alyssa would let out a long sigh. "Sorry I've been absentminded." She'd look to the others, "Thank you for taking the lead and keeping us safe." the elf would gesture to the traps. "I'm ready to continue when you are." The elf would offer an apologetic smile.

Ramious sits, his back to a wall where he was relatively hidden from anyone looking in through the entrance they came down. He sits, and pulls out a snack and begins chewing on some dried meat.  He drinks a bit of water and stares at the trapped area muddling through how he's going to try and disarm the ancient trap.

While waiting he calls out.  "Is anyone hurt?  I can bandage you up."  He then goes into his pack and pulls out his healers kit and holds it up.

Bernard has the healer feat and can restore 1d6+7 hp to someone with a use of his kit.

(I love the healer feat!)

"I think I'm okay..." Alyssa will take a moment to look over herself. She couldn't even recall if she had been attacked but knew Leon and Ramious definitely took some blows. The elf will then check over Leon and Ramious herself to answer Bugs for them. Circling around Leon, she remembered he negated most of his damaged, and besides perhaps a scratch, he seemed just peachy. She'd then move to Ramious who was distracted staring at the trap. Taking advantage of his posture, she'd do her usual check, then shout to Bernard peeking out from one of Ramious' wings. "Got some minor gashes here." She'd flag Bugs over to consult whether it was worth him bandaging up their tiefling or not.

(Have to remind everyone that the deal was to clear out this place from orcs, not to kill a couple random stragglers. They might not know (at first) in the town, but later will find out the hard way, so in case you care about your reputation - there is more to this caves.)

The dwarf on the door stared back at Ramious angrily and gave no clues about how to avoid an obvious danger. There was a door, the holes in it and some mechanism, hidden behind those panels with the holes.

Ramious accepts some healing from Bernard.  Thank you!   (no need to roll, the +7 is enough). 

After the much needed rest, and sitting and considering, Ramious looks to the group, "Uh, it seems clear we're out of the orcs domain....after thinkin a bit, I think..maybe we should go deal with the orcs and come back to this place after.  It'd suck for them to leave for town or somethin while we're dickin around in a cave....and cause trouble in revenge for our attack...." 

Alyssa will jot down a note on the map and would have to nod in agreement. As much as she was more interested in going down the rabbit hole, she understood the need to prioritize the orcs. "I have to agree. What direction should we take next?"

Finishing up applying the bandages to Ramious, he begins to put it back in his pack.  "You're probably right.  Safety of the village comes first.  Plus, we know we can make money killing orcs, who knows if this is a waste of time... I mean I don't think it is but but it could be."

"So, back to the y tunnel or back past the pile of crates where Ramious made his silent image?"  Leon asks as the others are clearly deciding to head back to deal with the orcs.

"I propose we head the direction that the bleeding orc was running.  Though we must be prepared for an ambush," he says.  "I fear this will get worse before it gets better... but that's why they pay so well right?"

"Apparently.  That, and hey, we're hero's.  Right?"  Ramious grins and leads the group back to the passage with the door at the end, creeping carefully towards it.  He then listens at the door.
