"Out of curiosity," Vilana looked indeed friendly and curious, "how would you verify the answer from a banshee? You would not know if we brought you the true answer either. But anyway, that tower over there was a watch tower, that belonged to a very old wizard, called Terraseer. He built this place back when Netheril was not even an empire yet. Some Netheresen writings or objects - may be even caring his name - might still be around to prove I am telling the truth".
"Should you still be not convinced - there is a man on the road behind us, who heard me mentioning that name before we get here and you asked your question".
Luckily the DC was low, as the mage already found items from Netheril in his work and half-believed you regardless... If you had rolled a 9 you would be sol though.
"The Terraseer..." Hamun said with a frown, glancing around with renewed wonder. "Who would have thought that ancient bag of bones was somehow related to this old watch tower..." He seems quite excited about the discovery. It takes him a moment to realize he has his part of the deal to fulfill now. "here, let me get the items I believe you are interested in from my tent..." He moves to his tent and comes out a moment later with several items. There is a broom, a large pearl, another large gemstone, two shortswords, a cloak, and a figurine of a silver raven.
Vilana feels drawn to the pearl, while Honor feels drawn to the cloak.
Sylcan cannot sense anything other than his pull coming from the tower still.
(That was my only hope, that Vilana's obvious honesty or already existing findings could lower the difficulty to the "easy" category. Dice is truly a fickle master.)
Vilana touched the pearl and closed her eyes for a moment - the sensation of returning memories (and the amount of it!) was overwhelming. But it was not the place to share excitement or even express some. "Glad the information was useful. Does it mean you are willing to part with those things too?"

"You can take the pearl." Hamun says with a shrug. He also lets Honor take the cloak. "As I said I would open my tent nad even aid you in the tower, so, if one of these things has drawn you here, then it is yours." He glances to Sylcan. "What about you?" He glances towards the tower, shall we go and see where in the tower whatever is yours is located?" He leads the way in that direction, and several zombies shuffle out of the tower at your approach, the smell of undeath filling the tower even with the zombies out of it. Four bodies lay in the tower, Tessa is one of them, Vlune, the biggest of the three bugbears, all of his gear still with him, and 2 of the redcloaks, all lay in the far corner. Sylcan would notice the pull is in the direct center of the tower, just beneath the floor. Pointing it out to the necromancer, Hamun summons back several of his zombies, who start tugging at the stones on the floor. It takes several minutes of work, but the zombies do not slow or tire and are soon tugging stones out of the floor and opening up a small hollow space under the stones.
Inside is a cache of items. A small pouch (that pulls at Sylcan,) a rune-carved rod, A rune-carved wand, and a small black cloth. There is also some mundane gear, mostly rusted armor and a few rusted weapons, all useless now. Scattered among it are gold and silver coins as well as a few gemstones, non magical.
"Please take which item belongs to you..." Hamun says to Sylcan, his eyes more than a bit excited as he looks over the cache below. "I would dearly love to learn how such an item, clearly hidden here for ages untold, could be yours, but we can talk that over at a later point. I would have torn up this floor eventually, but it would have been months probably before I could have found this. there was just enough stone and earth in the way that detect magic was not going to find these items."
Anything more the three of you wish to do prior to Latrius, Naivara, and Kierro arriving? The digging up of the tower floor takes about a half-hour, and you have another 15 minutes after that as you get the stuff from the hole and Sylcan would get his item from the hole. So that is 45 minutes you can be doing things in if you wish. Please let me know if there is anything you wish to do, or if we should go ahead and move on to the other's arrival.
Vilana and Honor would be able to sense that the rod from the hole is meant for one of the others, but the wand and the small cloth do not have that feeling.
Honor takes the cloak, and after the memories have had a chance to -- well, not settle, really, but once they're on their way to the tower, she asks Vilana in a murmur "You're trying to get the items for Naivara and the others?"
For the magical items that don't belong to one of the Erased, neither seem like something Honor thinks might interest Higgul for a trade, but she will pick up the cloth to inspect it.
Sylcan would sense it once you touched the pouch that calls to you. You cannot sense the others until that is done. teh pull to your own items is too great and completely overshadows any ability to sense the sameness of the other things.
"One moment there." The mage says as Honor moves towards the cloth. "I believe you have what you were after..." He nods to the cloak. "Your friend here says the pouch is what he is after, so I believe the wand, rod, and cloth are mine for now. If one of you is after one of those, then I will allow them the chance to tell me which one is the item they are drawn too, otherwise I need something for my effort, and these two..." he indicates the wand and the cloth. "Are worth all of the other things combined." If I have to give up so many of the things I have recovered, then these two things will make up for that to a large extent."
"You said you would have even been able to detect the presence of these items without us,"Honor reminds him. "But no matter, I was simply curious what they were. There are a few more of us that are coming, yes, but there are also a few of us --" she gestures to Higgul "-- who don't feel a pull to any object. It hardly seems fair to exclude them, even if you feel those items in particular are too high a value to trade."
"What I agreed to do was to allow you access to the specific items you came here seeking." Hamun reminds Honor. I said I would open my tent for you to retrieve those items, and help you find them in the tower. I did not say I would give over anything more than those items. Can you honestly tell me that this young warrior with you is seeking an item like you yourself were?"
Higgul's face is enough to tell the wizard that it is not the case.
"And I said it would have probably been another month before I found these, but I would have found them eventually regardless of your aid or not." The wizard also reminds Honor. He then nods to Sylcan. "Your friend there did the locating, and has his bag for his effort, plus whatever is inside that bag." the wizard looks to the small bag in Sylcan's hand a little enviously, but then shrugs. "Other than that, and anything else that is directly sought by someone, I will gather up and catalog it."
"Thank you," Vilana gladly accepted the pearl, and for a while was lost in her thoughts. "Yes, indeed there will be more of those like us - summoned by some of the items you discovered. I am surprised they are not here yet, actually. But they will be here, have no doubts in that."
"Can I ask why did you think banshee could know about Terraseer? We are new here, and unfamiliar with local inhabitants. Is she some kind of wise guide known for her knowledge?"
(Is the tattoo he bears recognizable at all, with the memories we have back now? This may affect how Honor responds.)
not from your memories, though someone local here might be able to answer that. He does command undead zombies fairly easily though, so it would not be hard to recognize him as a necromancer with what you now recall of magic and the world.
"These two said they were here after an item as you were." Hamun says, nodding to Mylene an Leto's unconscious forms. "How many more of those like you should I expect?"
"No, but I owe him for his service to us, and I am hoping to find something -- or some things of worth enough to trade for an item he has. Being not an arcane practitioner, I cannot identify items such as that cloth to determine their apparent relative value versus these items of ours. I am simply trying to honor my agreement with this man, who helped us arrive here safely such that we could give you the information that you need. If you say these items are worth far more, I have no way to verify this, though it would hardly make sense for you to be lying. What then of the coin, can that be equally distributed amongst all present? Please don't tell me you need it to pay your assistants." Honor is doing her best to keep her voice level and friendly, and her posture nonaggressive.
"There are nine of us, as far I know. Meaning, three more should appear very soon. Would you excuse us for a second?"
She put her hand on Honor's shoulder and gently pulled her a bit away, softly whispering in the ear of the warrior: "Honor, dear, you said you remember me and trusted me. I do to - trust, still can not recall our days together whatever it was. Please, trust me on this - this is his place. He owns things here. We can not demand anything. Would you be satisfied if I promise you to help somehow get that shield from Higgul? I mean, peacefully, no force way?"
persuasion check please.
