(If Saya sees dead minotaur) Saya will check the corpse to see how long has it been deceased, and also if it has anything of interest in its body.

Areus stands guard as Saya checks the corpse of the minotaur.

Soren looks uneasy "Areus, you are more familiar with Akroan battle strategy than I, but would this not be the perfect spot for an ambush?"

"Yes, Soren, this is a perfect spot for an ambush, however it looks like that the minotaurs were in hurry since they left behind their clansman's corpse." replies Areus as he still stand guard "But let's keep our guard up, just in case."

Soren grumbles under his breath "Or it's bait"

"Callaphe has not found anything so I doubt that it's a bait, but you have made your point Soren." replies "Let's keep going as soon as Saya has finished to examine that corpse."

Saya examines the body and the minotaur is freshly dead.   The blood that is dried around the arrow injury is newly dried.   As best you can tell he died recently,  within an hour or two. 

His axe is at his side and he is slumped over as if he possibly sat down to wait for you,  or to wait and die.   Either way he died before you arrived at this point. 

If the minotaur’s eye are open, Saya closes them. She says a small prayer for the dead.

(OOC: Was going to say she prays to Erebos, but not sure if that would be the right thing to do.)

"Saya, we should continue following Callaphe, she can hide well, but it's better to keep her within our eyesight in case she finds troubles and she needs backup." says Areus as he prepares to continue his march.

He gives a last look around, just to be sure that nothing is hiding within the rocks then follows Callaphe's path.

Callaphe steps out of the trees, "Figured it would be better to let you all catch up," she says. "We're going the right way, but I'm not sure I want to be one my own when we find whatever attacked the tribe."

Areus nods at Callaphe "I agree, let's proceed with caution, the plains as we already know are the home of several monsters too." 
The hoplite will take point and carefully proceeds further down the path.

You continue to follow the small stream of water as it meanders through the canyon.  You pause occasionally when a side passage is found to see if the quarry you chase has changed paths.  The sun is beginning to fall and the day is nearly spent when you do see sign that the minotaur have left the water and taken a side passage.

Three sets of tracks leave the water and move northwest down a narrow canyon.  You cannot see far as it turns a short way up.

Callaphe checks the tracks and motions to have the others follow when Saya stops her.  She's found something unusual and isn't ready to follow these tracks just yet.  Checking around she realizes that these tracks are false trail, at least partly.  She finds evidence that at one of the minotaur backtracked and went back into the stream.  The tracks back to the stream are well hidden and more than one may have gone back.

So now at least one minotaur has gone back to the stream and continued on while the remaining tracks continue along the new path.

Another choice needs to be made.
