Chen grunts in acknowledgement, satisfied that the hunt is not yet over. He runs back to the divination room to see his companions standing around talking to a cloaked kenku that he's not seen before. Still all keyed-up from the fight, Chen at first tenses to attack, but seeing the relaxed pose of his friends gives him pause and he takes a deep breath and relaxes himself. (Rage ends)
Er... hello there. Were you ... er ... were you summoned by that lich? Chen says to the kenku. He then shakes his head and addresses the whole group. Or perhaps you can fill me in later. Toc has discovered where the undead elf is hiding. Come, and be ready for anything...

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Russel repeats Chen’s query, “summoned by that lich?” he falls silent for a moment. Before simply answering... “no, not summoned.”
Russel’s interest is piqued at the mention of an undead elf... “you hunting a Lich?” He inquires utilizing words heard from the members of the group as well as residents of Hillsfar.
Well, we are hunting a dragon actually, explains Chen (unnecessarily as this isn't new information, but he doesn't know that) This is a bit of a detour. But the elf lich and the dragon may be working for the same ends.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
“Same ends?” Russel repeats borrowing Chen’s voice again. He looks around at everyone hoping someone will be able to explain. (I’m guessing that roll didn’t help at all)
Chen looks around with a surprised look hearing his own voice parroted back to him (hehe... parroted). He's met a kenku in the past, but it still catches him off guard. I don't know actually, he replies. Then to the rest of the group he adds: What did that lich say? Something about 'giving the Cloud a helping hand'? So the lich is helping the dragon? If that's so, then he's as guilty as Verdant Cloud. He says this last with a deep growl as he grips his hammer tightly.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Russel ruminates on the dragonborns words... unsure of what they might mean for is own mission. At least he would have some progress to report ... for once. And they seemed willing to provide a distraction for him at the very least. Being ready to move on Russel parrots Chen again. “Come, and be ready for anything...” He then makes his way towards the area Chen re-entered the room from.
Fianna finds herself amused by the entire scene and cannot help but to smile.
Amused or not, she is also glad when this Kenku takes off in the direction Chen indicated- it’s never comfortable telling a newcomer you don’t trust them at your back. But with the problem being a self solver, Fianna follows the feathers.
Jezun also follows the route into the secret chamber, staff at the ready. Meaning, he is carrying the staff still. Meaning, the staff is always at the ready. Meaning, also, his limbs not holding the staff are also at the ready. Meaning, he's always ready?
The monk's eyes cross briefly, his mind resetting, and he blinks, then focuses on keeping one foot in front of the other, alert for danger.
His mind does this sort of thing from time to time, and a distanced observer would be quite puzzled and frustrated to try to follow that train of thought.
The rest of the group comes back to Toc...seeing what appears to be a normal wall. He taps his staff on the ground and an opening appears. You move down the hallway, which opens up into a large room. The ceiling rises far above them. The floor, walls and ceiling are all stone, and covered in detailed interlaced designs of circles, carved out of the very rock, the veins of stone seem to follow the circles, which are criss-crossed with magic glyphs. It looks like once the upper part of the room nearly fifty feet above had gaps that were open to the air, but they're filled with rubble now...small crystals emitting blue light have been fixed in their spots, shining a bright cold light through the top of the room. In the center of this place, a massive sphere, about thirty feet across hangs in the air. It appears to be made of stone, with similar patterns carved across its surface, though it's also reflective. Hazy insubstantial white butterflies seem to flap around above the sphere going in circles. Some invisible source of blue light glows between the ground and the sphere...while a smokey mist seems to hang in the air. It looks like at one time, there were five different exits from this room, but all but the one you've entered through is filled with rubble. There is a single door on the far side of the room.
The elven Baelnorn is here. A steady stream of magic seems to be pulsing around the large sphere and funnelling into the Baelnorn who is encased in a shimmering field of energy. The Baelnorn has his other hand extended towards a round portal open behind him in mid-air. The energy seems to be flowing through him, out his hand, and like a beam shoots through the portal. As you watch, threads of magic around the large sphere seem to snap apart and then quickly merge back together and vanish, as if the weave itself was buckling.
He glances your way and sneers....“This shell has served its purpose. Come now, face the wrath of Netheril for the final time!”
Two vortex of smoke appear on each side of the room and form into tall....squid faced beings that you all recognize as Illithids.....except these appear to be undead, perhaps liche's..also known as Alhoon's..... the three Liche's face you. The sphere around Quaryl is 10 feet in diameter.
Toc swears, "I'm near tapped on my magic....this may go badly....don't touch the sphere...it will annihilate anything that touches it..."
The shell, then... And the lich itself - no, three liches... Sweet. Toc's phrase, though, reminded Mirica of similar situation.
"Anything? Would it annihilate a lich?"Last time it did not work, but who knows, may be that one would at least suck up those monster to their own plane. One can always hope.
