Rogram spits a gob of blood at the hobgoblin, but it dissipates in the wind. The half-dwarf sways a little on his feet, and he blinks hard, trying to clear the fog from his head. Is this it? Is he going to see his mother again today? He shakes his head and scowls. He won't give in. He grunts a healing spell directed at himself then swings his axe again, trying to aim more carefully despite the fact that he's seeing more than one hobgoblin in front of him at the moment.
If the attack hits (Whenever you take the Attack action on your turn, your walking speed increases by 10 ft. until the end of the turn. If a weapon attack hits, you can use one the following once per turn.): Rogram pulls back on his shoulder, arcing his axe in an attempt to deflect the hobgoblin's next attacks.
Blade flourish: Defensive flourish: You can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration and deal extra damage equal to the number you roll on the die (4). You also add the number to your AC until the start of your next turn.

Merric allows himself just a small moment of satisfaction as the hobgoblin falls and keeps moving 35 feet forward, knocking a new arrow to his bowstring as he moves. Stopping again, he pulls up his bow and releases another arrow, this time targeting the wounded hobgoblin. He shouts “Hang on, Rogram. We are on the way.” he shakes his head, it is difficult to see Rogram through the swirling winds, but the the whole distraction thing appears to have gone sideways.
OOC: Akira is 145 feet away from the hobgoblin's leader (he had moved a bit further away to attack Rogram), so she will have to move 25 feet to be in range for scorching ray (but can still back up 5 feet). Botting Karib for this round with movement forward + dodge.
Just as soon as Rogram heals his wound, his axe is battered away again, his hand feeling like it has nearly been torn away from his limb. Still, his concentration holds, and the wind continues shielding the duel from arrows; and also, from Akira's fiery missiles. Merric's felling of another hobgoblin turns the rest of their attention toward the approaching trio, and another volley is loosed, this time away from Rogram and the hobgoblin captain. One strikes Akira, tearing scales, eerily close to planting itself into her skin. Another volley of bolts from the wagon misses their mark.
Round 4 Order: Players <===== Enemies
Placement: Rogram is engaged in melee combat with the hobgoblin captain, 20 feet away from the hobgoblins and 80 feet away from the besieged wagon. Akira is 105 feet away from the hobgoblins, 125 feet away from Rogram and the hobgoblin captain, and 150 feet away from the besieged wagon. Merric is 95 feet away from the hobgoblins, 115 feet away from Rogram and the hobgoblin captain, and 145 feet away from the besieged wagon. Karib is 150 feet away from the hobgoblins, 170 feet away from Rogram and the hobgoblin captain, and 175 feet away from the besieged wagon.
Health: Four hobgoblins and the hobgoblin captain remain.
Rogram is grievously wounded. Akira is badly wounded. Karib is lightly wounded. Merric is lightly wounded.

Merric stands in place, comfortable with the range now, and quickly draws and knocks another arrow. He aims, pausing his breathing as he sights onto the next target, and smoothly releases an arrow at the next hobgoblin in line. He calls out to the guards under the wagon, urging them forward “Come on out now, rush them! You can take them, we have you covered.” Merric drops to the ground in a nearby depression to gain cover from the return arrows.

Rogram will never give up! He speaks another bit of healing magic, which is lost in the howl of the wind. He is feeling his reserves being depleted, and he swings his axe again at the hobgoblin.
If the attack hits (Whenever you take the Attack action on your turn, your walking speed increases by 10 ft. until the end of the turn. Wind washes over the battlefield as the whirling barrier around Rogram suddenly erupts outward. When it clears, the hobgoblin captain is standing over the crumpled half-dwarf, blood pooling from a deep wound across his chest. Missiles whip back and forth between the wagon, the hobgoblins, and the approaching party, none meeting their targets as all eyes turn to the fallen bard. After the round of crossbow bolts, the guards and merchant of the besieged wagon take heed of Merric's direction, emboldened by the arrival of Leda and The Pole; emerging from their cover behind the wagons, they charge. A beam of light whistles past the hobgoblins from Karib's outstretched hand, and Akira surrounds herself with arcane armor, finding no cover between herself and the hobgoblins.

“Rogram!” Merric shouts out as he sees the man crumple and fall to the ground under the hobgoblin’s blade. The stilling of the swirling winds allows him a better view of the entire area and he pulls up his bow to target the hobgoblin Captain. Pulling the bowstring back to his ear, he whispers in elvish and marks the hobgoblin leaders as his favored foe before releasing the arrow. Following his shot, he moves forward 35 feet, working to get closer to Rogram.
Attack: 15 Damage: 9 plus 4 psychic damage plus 4 favored foe.
The captain of the hobgoblin is pummeled by fire as Akira's missiles blast him in the back. He whirls around just in time for Merric's arrow to plunge just beneath his half-plate armor. Karib's next guiding bolt is the only missile that does not strike its target. Grimacing, the captain barks orders, directing his soldiers' attention to the oncoming guards from the besieged wagon, who avoid the volley of arrows as they rush the hobgoblins with sword and spear. They trade hits, but none fall, while Leda and The Pole seem more intent on the hobgoblin with the massive greatsword. Despite his wounds, the hobgoblin advances toward Rogram's sergeant and fellow guardsman.
"Go! Tend to Rogram!" Leda shouts as the hobgoblin stops his advance, allowing her to approach. The Pole obeys, making an arc around the battle, his remarkably lengthy stride quickly bringing him to Rogram's side (action: dash). Leda jabs with her spear, but the formidable hobgoblin smashes it to the side, swinging in an arc and bringing the sword back toward her; Leda looks as outmatched in a one-on-one battle with the creature as Rogram.
Health: Four hobgoblins and the hobgoblin captain remain. The hobgoblin captain is grievously wounded. Two hobgoblins are lightly wounded.
Rogram is unconscious and dying (1 success, 0 failures). Akira is severely wounded. Karib is lightly wounded. Merric is lightly wounded. One guard is lightly wounded.
Karib cries out as he sees the impetuous dwarf collapse to the ground then, unable to help Rogram from so far away runs forward as far as he then continues his headlong dash.
Gasping for breath he calls upon Gond to summon a large hammer like those used in the great forges of the Hall of Wonders. The hammer appears in fron of the hobgoblin that struck down his friend, and attacks.

Seeing his companions pile on against the hobgoblin Captain, Merric targets one of the hobgoblins fighting against the caravan guards and releases another arrow. Lowering his bow, he moves another 35 feet toward the fallen Rogram.
Leda stares wide-eyed at the hobgoblin captain, her weight on her back foot, her spear effortlessly thrown wide by the heavier sword of her opponent. Her shield is all that stands between the hobgoblin's greatsword and a swift death. She raises it, too slow to stop the sword's approach, but then her view is blocked by a shining hammer. The sword falls to the earth as the hobgoblin falls backward, its face caved in from Karib's spiritual weapon. Two more hobgoblins fall a short distance away, Merric's arrow in the neck of one, and Akira's arcane missiles punching holes through another's body. The merchant falls back, cut by a hobgoblin's longsword, as his guards close in on the remaining pair.
Leda blinks her eyes, quickly getting her bearings. "Leda!" she snaps her head toward a shout from The Pole, who is struggling to staunch Rogram's bleeding. She rushes over to help, but the half-dwarf's wound is stubborn.
Rogram is unconscious and dying (1 success, 1 failure). Akira is severely wounded. Karib is lightly wounded. Merric is lightly wounded. The merchant is grievously wounded. One guard is lightly wounded.

Merric continues to move forward, closing with the two remaining hobgoblins fighting the merchant and his guards. Lowering his bow in one hand, he draws his shortsword and slashes across the chest of the closest hobgoblin.
