As Rogram does his spell to dry Smoke's fur Smoke is shocked. What the.. i didnt know you could do.. Thats amazing. Look at it, its beautifull again!
After a moment of checking if hes dry he looks to Rogram Thank you my friend!
Smoke nods to the proposed marching order. He would be the scout. He walks up in front, at first not really paying that much attention as he is busy holding up his arms and checking out his fur. His dry wonderfull fur with a big smile on his face.
He then snaps out of it noticing hes in front and not sure if the others are looking at him. So he starts to move a little more carefull. Trying to keep up a decent speed while stopping at corner brushes in bends of the stream to peer around for possible foes.
Thia crouches low, trying to maintain some degree of cover as she follows the group through the village, her hand resting nervously on her rapier hilt. Looking around her she constantly checks for signs of raiders. Shaking her head to herself she thinks, How did I get myself into this mess? One moment I'm setting out to find Talis, the next I'm in a war zone. That girl has a lot to answer for.
"I'm happy at the back, certainly," she tells Yevele, slotting into her allotted position.
At Smoke's thanks and excitement, Rogram looks at his hand and flexes his fingers. "That's something my mother taught me." He pauses, looking a little wistful. "I haven't done that in quite a while." But as the others start planning their next steps, he snaps back in the moment, agreeing to keep toward the back of the party to protect the flank.
The stream provides excellent natural cover to the southeast, and you make good time through the town, undisturbed by any of the raiding force. The thick brush causes you to stay within the banks of the water, but the stream itself is low due to the lack of recent rain, and never rises higher than Rogram's waist.
Before long, you reach the town's temple to Chauntea. The temple is a large building, made of fieldstone with a peaked slate roof, and square in shape, taller than most other buildings in Greenest. From the low curve of the stream, you cannot see any of the building's windows or doors, but smoke rises clearly from some area of the structure. Loud shouting and high-pitched whooping can be heard from the direction of the temple as well.
A thick hedge wall stands between the temple and the stream.
(OOC: Mr DM, do you have a map/picture of the temple which will help us with visualization? Or are we going more theatre-of the-mind? Happy either way!)
Rogram gets disadvantage on stealth, so it should have been a straight roll for him, so 7+1=8. :/
How tall is the wall? Is it sound, meaning no breaks? Is the greenery trees or bushes? If trees, are any tall enough that we could perhaps climb a tree to get to the top of the wall?
OOC: Good catch, thank you for pointing that out. Fortunately the other rolls were high enough, the result doesn't change.
The greenery on the map is the same thick brush that covers the banks of the stream, difficult terrain and high enough to shield the bottom of the stream from view of anybody that's not directly on the edge of the brush - nothing so tall as a tree, but the wall surrounding the sanctuary is made out of hedges and is only 4-5 feet tall so climbing it wouldn't be difficult at all.
Smoke will try and look over the brushes as best he can to find a spot thats not that thick. We might be too late, hurry!
He will try to move through the brush where it is a bit thinner if he can find it, otherwise will start to move through any part. Smoke will mostly be concerned with passing throught the brush, but will try to look up midway and at the end to see if someone notices them.
Smoke will wait at the hedge squatting down a bit to hide behind it but still peer over the edge to get a quick look at whats going on while everyone gathers.
Yevele will creep up next to Smoke and also try to find a way to peek over the top of the hedges, looking specifically for raiders and secondarily for doors or windows at the rear of the church.
There are figures clustered tightly at the rear entrance of the sanctuary; at least a half dozen (some Small and some Medium), illuminated by their torches, are attempting to set fire to the area around a door. Their meager fire produces little flame, however, instead creating prodigious clouds of thick smoke that engulf the back of the temple and blanket the surrounding thirty feet of ground. Everything in the smoke is lightly obscured, and the furthest creatures are heavily obscured past fifteen feet into the smoke.
The whooping and hollering is coming from a strange procession of raiders that has worked its way to the rear side of the cathedral, on the opposite side of the hedge wall from you. Strung out in a mob that stretches fifty feet, ten kobolds leap and whirl, followed closely by three humans and a pair of green drakes. The mob continues its route slowly in a circle around the building, taking almost two minutes to move along the back wall toward the left side.
"Looks like we should wait for this procession to pass around the north end of the temple and then rush the ones trying to light this place up. At least that's what I would do." Thia curls a wayward lock over her right ear.
Rogram looks like he's ready to charge in, but stops and nods in agreement to Thia's suggestion. He peers through the hedges at the scene beyond, then moves close to Smoke and whispers in his feline ear, "You are fast, and I can make you faster. If you feel a diversion would be helpful, say the word, and I'll quicken your steps. But you need to be near me, because I have to touch you to perform the incantation." The half-dwarf then readjusts his grip on his sword, clearly ready to charge in at a moment's notice.
Yevele nods in agreement with Thia's plan, and then prepares to charge in as soon as the marchers turn the corner. Once the marchers move around the corner, Yevele will dash into within 20 feet of the closest raider.
Smoke considers Rograms idea of him being a decoy but quickly dismisses it in his mind. He knew of drake's they were not to be toyed with. They moved slowly so the wait was painfull but Smoke dares not have all these creatures chase him to who knows where, he could easily run into more raiders and then what. No he would wait some more as Thai suggested.
After the group of raiders were out of sight Smoke will also move towards the smaller hedge to get a closer look at the raiders in the area filled with smoke.

ooc How far is it from where we are standing to the raiders trying to light the door?
OOC: You've got about 80 feet to the door, 50 feet to the edge of the smoke's radius.
