Thia, looking amazed that the group has managed to escape the camp, for now, scampers up the cliff face. She remembers to pull up any ropes which were being used to help climbers, so as to make it hard for the army to follow them up.
She looks around: How many prisoners are there with the group now? What state are they in?
Smoke will wait till the prisoners are near the top before reaching out to help them up the last part.
Once a few of them have gotten up he will tell them to help the next ones Help them up, i will see if anyone is coming.
Smoke will move a bit further back into the brush and keep watch for any raiders on the plateau. Hurry! he calls out as quietly as he can every now and then as the others climb up.
Leosin requires every bit of Yevele's assistance to walk to the edge of the cave, and even more to climb, but his ability to force mind over matter seems almost impossible. By the looks of it, his bruised and swollen limbs have no business holding his body weight.
Smoke helps pull the pair of dwarven prisoners up onto the plateau, and once the first human has crested the cliff, the tabaxi scans the thick brush surrounding them while they start to assist the others. With the darkness still occluding much of his vision, and the sounds of the camp drowning out any subtle noises, it is still difficult to tell whether any raiders have closed in on this area, but he is certain that none are within 60 feet.
Thia climbs to the top as well, while Rogram scans the camp below. The nearest raiders have closed to within 200 feet, with at least two dozen a few hundred feet further behind. Hundreds of others have scattered in other directions, with some climbing the cliffs near Smoke's earlier escape, and others rousing the kobolds in the lower level of camp.
Rogram is pleased to see the raiders aren't too close. He climbs up the cliff last. Once he is up top, he carefully scatters his bag of caltrops in the hopes that they will slow their pursuers.
Smoke looks to Thia Im not sure what diversions we still have left. He looks around again. We need to get away from here. Theres to many of them.
Spacing and looking around to see if most or all of the prisoners have climbed up yet. Perhaps we can carry Yevele's friend, i have spent much magic already. I no longer have the energy to heal him.
Smoke keeps pacing and watching the camp below. So much we still needed to learn, we need to go. Is everyone here?
He takes out his rapier just in case and starts moving about 20ft in the direction that they came from to head back to Greenest. He will stop to wait for the others and try to keep watch for movements in the area.
Turning to the villagers of Greenest, Yevele asks "Do any of you know of some place nearby where we could hide? If not, then maybe we should take a slghtly circuitous route to the place where they had the ambush set up, staying up in the hills rather than following the path the army took to get here from Greenest."
"I can go in front and try to scout a path for us, and possibly find a place for us to hide out while they search for us."
You don't notice anything among the prisoners that would obviously hamper brisk travel. They all seemed to climb the cliff rather capably.
The shouts and footsteps within the camp rush like a howling wind above the plateau. Like a sunset over the horizon, the valley floor glows with a growing orange light as more and more torches are lit and passed around the pursuing army.
"No...need!" Leosin grits his teeth in reply to Smoke, but the monk's body betrays his words as he falls to his knees after only a few steps. The prisoners shout a jumble of confused answers toward Yevele, most indicating that they don't even know where this camp is in relation to Greenest or the farms where they were taken.
OOC: There are eight prisoners with you, including Rogram's aunt and uncle.
As it stands, Yevele is going to scout a path forward, with an intent to circumnavigate the small canyon where the raiders had an ambush set up earlier. Assuming nobody objects or presents a different idea, how closely will the rest of the party follow? It is very late into the night, and so there can only be around 1 hour of travel before Forced March rules will go into effect.
Thia will take note of the mess Leosin is in and mutter a Healing Word under her breath. (7 healing to the monk). She will then move off to the edge of the cliff, looking down.
If there are any raiders who have started the climb up the cliff after us she will drop a Sleep on the lead group, trying to catch as many as possible, hoping they will fall off the cliff and that will slow/discourage pursuit. She will then move off with the others.
If there are no raiders that close, she will save her spell and move off with the others.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: I'll assume silence means everyone is fine with following behind as Yevele takes the lead.
Yevele Survival: 8
Leosin groans in relief as Thia's healing magic flows into his battered body. He still moves with a visible limp, but is able to carry his own weight as the procession of party and prisoners begins to move. Looking over the cliff, Thia still sees some distance between the rock wall and the closest pursuers, leaving them out of range of her sleep spell.
After a few minutes, you reach the bottom of the plateau, and the thick brush no longer obscures your vision. Yevele scouts forward hastily as the sounds of pursuit and flashes of torchlight spur you onward. However, he surrounding land looks very different under the moonlight, and Yevele's human eyes have trouble locating landmarks. She successfully avoids the ambush site from the previous day, but generally loses her bearing as the main objective to gain distance on the pursuing army takes precedence.
After a half hour, it seems that you have largely succeeded; only an occasional shout is heard from far behind, and the torch lights have fallen out of sight. After an hour, the toll the escape has taken is showing drastically. Many of the prisoners, including Rogram's hardy dwarven family, are gasping for breath, their overworked muscles fatigued. Leosin, despite the healing provided, looks at you through swollen eyes as he offers, "Perhaps we can find a place to evaluate a plan?"
Your bodies have not been excluded from the exertion either. The stress of the day's events and your current plight tug at your weary minds as the moon sits high in the sky.
OOC: For each additional hour the party travels tonight, the following rules will be in effect:
Each character must make a Constitution saving throw at the end of the hour. The DC is 10 + 1 for each hour. On a failed saving throw, a character suffers one level of Exhaustion.
(Worth noting that the prisoners and Leosin will also be making these saving throws)
"I think we need to find a place to hide out and rest for a while. We can see if the army is still searching for us before heading back to Greenest. Perhaps they'll think that we got away and will stop looking for us." After finishing the comment, Yevele scans the surrounding area looking for a place to hide from the pursuit. Perception: 15

OOC: It took you a few hours to reach the camp from the outcrops where you fought off the ambush, traveling at a normal pace. Yevele was leading the way and as far as she can tell, you are still heading in a direction to navigate around that area.

Thia Perception:8
The rolling plains leave much to be desired in the way of cover, but it takes only a few minutes for Yevele to find a jumble of boulders in an area of rougher terrain that could provide a place to hide out. The prisoners offer looks of desperation as they wait for instruction. None are able to answer Smoke's question, having no bearing on where it is they have been taken.
We have two options Smoke says after catching his breath a bit.
We can try to find a place to hide here, and spend some time hiding our tracks or we can try to push on to see how far we get.
He looks around. Perhaps we should try to hide here, everyone is tired. But we need to find a place where we can all rest a bit. Some could gather some branches to block vision to our hiding spot. Others cover up our tracks or lead them elsewhere.
Yeah, where is the army in comparison to us?

Smoke looks back while breathing heavily.
Yes, we should take a moment.
Once everyone is gathered Smoke will sit down. Does anyone know what path is the fastest to get to Greenest? We cant go by the main road.
(How long did we travel to get to the ambush camp? and do they know they passed it?)
Rogram looks alarmed. "We're not leading the army back to Greenest, are we? That's how we got into this mess in the first place!"
"I think we need to find a place to hide out and rest for a while. We can see if the army is still searching for us before heading back to Greenest.
