Rogram says to the others, "Free the human," and then runs at the closest kobold, scale mail jangling, and a growl rising in his throat. He raises and brings his sword down hard in an attempt to end the tiny creature while preparing to defend himself with his shield.
For those who can see in the dim light, the human -- who had been struggling -- starts nodding frantically, "Mff. Mmmt mm mmmm!".
A shiny bald head, scarred all over, seems like it might explode with fury as muscles all over his body strain against the ropes. Red-faced from his exertions, the scars stand out in shades from dark grey to livid pink, denoting their age and size.
If Yevele can get to the kobolds holding the human without provoking an opportunity attack, she will do so. If necessary, the monk will spend a ki point to use step of the wind to get to the human. Once there, she will take a two-handed swing with her long sword at one of the kobolds: Attack: 14 Damage: 8

Seeing his companions run forward Smoke quickly follows. Once he gets in range to view the situation he makes sure he stays out of melee range of the kobolds in the middle of the chamber and watches Yevele running after the far ones.

Following his words he looks to his hands still holding a dagger from his search in the meat chamber and tosses it to the one Yevele is not attacking, making sure to not hit her. Then pulls out another dagger waving it menacingly to discourage the other kobolds.

OOC: Using step of the wind, Yevele can reach the far kobolds without taking an opportunity attack. To answer Ereshion's question, this chamber is mostly lit by Yevele's torchlight. To take a two-handed swing she'll have to drop it but it is still lighting the room near the bound human.

Yevele cuts down the kobold easily through its feeble defenses while the remaining kobold falls simultaneously, overwhelmed by the flanking attack of Rogram and Smoke.

OOC: Each character has received 25 XP for defeating the kobolds.
As we (presumably) untie the captive in the next round of posts, let's include a description of the characters within the party for its new addition!
Leaving Smoke to attend to the captive, Yevele will bend down and clean her sword off with the clothing of one of the kobolds, before turning and picking up her torch. As she stands up, the newcomer sees a tall, human female, with auburn hair. She is dressed in a manner similar to the bandits employed by the dragon queen hoard, with dark brown pants and a light brown shirt. Both appear to be made of a coarse material. Her face is slightly harsh in appearance, with her nose appearing to have been broken several times in the distant past. In addition to the long sword, she has a long bow and quiver of arrows attached to her backpack.
Looking over at Smoke, she asks "Who do we have here?"
As the last kobold dies, the human sags to the ground and watches the others a little warily. Once they begin to untie him he finally relaxes, though it seems to take an effort. The veins in his head and neck recede as his pulse slows. The scars on his head look less angry, and he tears the gag from his mouth.
“By Gond, that was close!” he says. “They were taking me to the damned hatchery.”
He stands, and it is only then the you realize why there were four kobolds: Despite wearing muddy and bloody undergarments, he manages to cut an imposing, if somewhat fearsome, figure. A little over six feet tall, he seems well-muscled and fit. As he stretches, rubbing his legs and arms, it becomes clear that the scars are not limited to his bald head. The skin on his forearms and hands also seems to have seen a great deal of hard use. Calouses, burns and battle scars cover his hands and arms nearly to his shoulders.
Looking around, he immediately sees a large sack that one of the kobolds was carrying. He upends it on the ground then uses it to clean the worst of the filth from his body.
“Where’s my manners!” he says, mid-wipe. “Karib. Karib Falengust, priest of Gond and...but for you all..." he manages a smile that takes in the whole group, "...soon to be dragon shit.” Bowing slightly, he beats one fist on his chest in a salute and greeting.
“Are you the ones that freed the prisoners?” he asks.
He starts to equip himself with what are evidently his belongings, waiting for a response.
"You're the second priest of Gond we've encountered in battling these vermin." Yevele replies as she kicks one of the dead kobolds. "As far as prisoners go . . "
"Oh, Shit! Our prisoner!" With that phrase, the monk turns and runs up the ramp to the upper level of the cavern, intent on checking the disposition of the tied up cultist they'd left behind."
With the last kobold falling Smoke moves closer to the prisoner and leans in showing a bit more of his black furry body. With only the light of Yevele's torch to glinster off his eyeballs in this dark cave.
Smokes lean body moves with grace to position himself over the prisoner and raises his finger in front of his own lips Shh. We are not going to harm you he says calmly to avoid having the prisoner scream and shout upon release. He continues to first ungag him allowing him to speak while Smoke uses his dagger to cut alongside the human to free him. Sometimes stopping shortly to see if Smoke didnt cut the human after passing another scar on his body.
Responding to the humans words he reacts in shock The hatchery? Thats bad, very bad, we had hoped most had left but if thats true.... Then dragons must have hatched,
As he finishes releasing the human Smoke paces around a bit, giving everyone clear view of his leather outfit. His daggers tucked into the back of his belt and a rapier on his side. His tail sometimes pushing slightly against the rapier to keep it from bouncing of his leg to much.
Good to meet you Karib, I am called Smoke. he nods We did help others escape this camp yes. Do you have any.. he pauses a moment looking at the humans body ..recent wounds that need attending?
Slowing his step and stopping his pacing he turns to the human. You look like you have seen some battle. Will you be ok returning to your home on your own? Assuming Karib was caught defending his home somewhere in the region like most prisoners were. We would offer to escort you but i fear if we journey back the rest of camp will be deserted as well before our return.
Smoke looks onward into the darkness of the cave then back to Karib and the others Im afraid there are many dangers still to be found here. Its not safe for you .. or us.. he adds under his breath
Karib watches as the monk runs off then listens intently as he fastens his armour and straps on his shield.
"Escort me?" He laughs grimly, "I could find my own way back to town, if I had a mind to. But this..." he looks around the cavern and the dead kobolds, "...this needs to be answered."
He looks directly at Smoke, "Did Mathon escape with the other prisoners?" He frowns, remembering, "A dwarf, yay high...a smith like myself. Or was my capture all for naught?"
A light flickers to life on his shield as he casts around the room, apparently looking for something. "Aha!" He reaches down and picks up a worn steel-shod wooden staff, which he proceeds to clean.
"Now, I am ready," he says, his hand gripping the staff tightly.
Rogram draws in a sharp breath, his narrowed eyes growing wide.
The swordsman of the party had been wary of the human, staying a little ways off as the priest was freed and Yevele and Smoke addressed the big man. Almost a foot shorter than the human, but visibly strong for his own size, Rogram's bearded face hovered just above the rim of his metal buckler as he watched the newcomer warily. But at the question, his shield arm drops. His sword clatters to the floor of the cave, and he marches up to Karib looking for all the world as if he were about to strike him.
Stopping almost toe-to-toe with Karib, Rogram glares up into the priest's face, and immediately his own visage melts into agony. "Did you say Mathon? Have you seen my pa? Is he still alive?"
Not a short human, then, but a tall dwarf! And a young one at that.

(( RP Insight: 20 ))
Karib stands his ground as the dwarf approaches, but makes no offensive move, his brow slightly furrowed. He owes his life to these people and if they now chose to attack him for some reason, it would be the will of Gond. As the dwarf asks his question. he blinks once, staring down at him. It wasn't clear to him that there was any resemblance, but in the short time he had known Mathon, he had indeed spoken of a son.
"He...I...You're his son?"
Karib draws a breath, collecting his thoughts and searching for the right words, "Rezmir -- one of those cursed half-dragons -- had some plans for him. I don't know what the plans were, but it was enough for me to throw a hammer into his machine. I tried to free him when the other prisoners escaped. That's how I got caught...and punished." He smiles grimly. "Apparently I didn't do a good enough job guarding him."
He glances around the room then back at the dwarf, "So...he didn't make it, then?" He closes his eyes and lets out a long sigh, bowing his head. "Seems I have even more unfinished business."
Karib moves a little away from the dwarf and settles on his haunches, trying not to look menacing. In for a copper, in for a gold. "Look...I don't know why you are all here, but I was sent to investigate the activity of the cult. The people I was supposed to meet never showed up. Probably dead. So I joined up as a mercenary hoping to learn what I could, and disappear later." He looks up at the dwarf. "I'm a smith, Mathon was a smith. People always welcome smiths. So he was assigned to me as a ... a slave ... I suppose. The last I saw of him, he was running into the darkness."
"I went to sleep that night and was woken in the middle of the night when the blue one...Cyanwrath...knocked me senseless. Next time woke up, I was in these caves. 'The reward for incompetence' they said."

OOC: Love this RP, keep it going as long as you need to.
Rogram steps back, his eyes bouncing from Karib to the floor to the wall to the ceiling and back to Karib. Finally, he jerks his head to look at Smoke. "He's not here. I — I need to look for him!" He hurries back to pick up his sword. "Which way?" he asks the priest.
