Silenus, you make your way up the rope to the upper floor. The first thing you see is daraktan, hobgoblin, and human cased in ice, shoved up south of the stairwell. In the middle of the space between the east and west stairwell are large leathery white eggs encased in ice and frost. About midway up the western wall is a steaming hole, like a thermal vent.

Rinn grabs the grappling hook and rope, stowing them away again while Silenus looks in the steam vent. He keeps a cautious eye out for any danger (Perception: 27).
"Or something came through that vent and took it," Rinn offers the alternative. Rinn summons his familiar from it's patrol around the mountain hold and then tries to bring it back on the floor below to offer some view of the floor below where the vent comes from.
You hear the clicking of claws through the vent before the head of the creature emerges, a long centipede like entity that is huge, the ice melting around it. (( Remorhaz Nature or Survival check DC 13 to know what it is. ))
(( You each have a turn this round before it is visible because of your high perception rolls. ))

(( Too funny! Athletics check DC 10 to get up the secured grappling hook rope. ))
Silenus laughs at the magical hand anchoring the rope.
"Awesome, dude" Silenus says as he tugs the rope.
He then moves up it quickly. (Athletics: 11 )

Rinn quickly follows up the rope (Athletics: 8).

You both make it to the upper floor.
Silenus heads over to the hole with the steam to take a look at what might be causing it.
Rinn grabs the grappling hook and rope, stowing them away again while Silenus looks in the steam vent. He keeps a cautious eye out for any danger (Perception: 27).
The vent, Silenus, is very hot, the stone itself is melted. (( Roll a nature check. ))
Rinn, you notice an egg is missing in this icey clutch. There is a line of melted divots leading to the vent.
Rinn messages the information to Silenus while he continues to watch the area.
Silenus Nature: 11
"Did the egg just up and walk away, dude? Can they do that?" Silenus asks. "Oh, maybe, like it totally hatched."
"Or something came through that vent and took it," Rinn offers the alternative. Rinn summons his familiar from it's patrol around the mountain hold and then tries to bring it back on the floor below to offer some view of the floor below where the vent comes from.
The vent doesn't have an exit on the main floor or what you can see of it; maybe one of the rooms or lower floors comes to your mind.
