Chill started yelling for the others to come his way as we watched the fog roll in. The cackling laugh filled his head but he quickly shook it off. He fired another bolt up as he took steady aim hopeful that the shadow he say was one of the damned ice mephits. But those creatures didn't make that sound, what did?

"By the All Father's flaming beard, first those ice creatures, then this fog and that creepy laugh!" says Krom as he attempts to steel his will against the harmful effect of the laugh. (Wis save: 15)
"Unfortuntately I can not do much against the fog, let's head towards the entrance of the tunnel." The dwarf says as he begins to follow Rhogar. Krom takes then another of his hand axes and hurls it high towards the last location where he saw the ice mephits. The flaming axe briefly illuminates the fog as it flies.
"Vellynne, can you do something about this fog?" asks the dwarf.
Action Hand Axe Attack: 11 Damage: 11 + 8 of Fire damage from Divine Strike
Movement 25ft towards the souther tunnel
End Turn Save (if the previous save failed): Wisdom 21
Twice more the sound of falling shards of ice tell you that both Chill and Krom hit their targets as the group makes their way towards the sound of Chill's voice. Vellynne moves with you "I cannot dispel this fog. Those Ice Mephits can create it, we would have to kill them to remove it."
The ice mephits do not seem intent on following or attacking you as they do not seem to do either. But as Krom heads to the way out the creature that Gorrah saw suddenly appears in the fog as a shadow and bites and claws at him. The creatures teeth sink into him and he can feel the life drain from him. He is not just injured by the bite, his life force is reduced. (Max HP reduced by 12 - all documented on character sheet)
You make your way down the passage which is also filled with fog and into another large area. Near the spot you enter the fog still fills that corner of the cavern. You wait a moment in anticipation of the creature following you, but it does not seem to.
The top of a partially shattered tower rests on its side in the middle of this thirty-foot-high cavern. Long icicles hang from the ceiling above the toppled spire. North of the tower is a fifteen-foot-diameter hole in the floor that seems to be the upper end of a tunnel.
The following features are common throughout the Caves of Hunger:
Ceilings. Most cavern ceilings are 30 feet high and made of smooth ice. Tunnel ceilings range from 10 to 15 feet high unless otherwise noted.
Darkness. All areas are cast in complete darkness unless otherwise noted.
Echoes. Sound travels quickly here. All Wisdom (Perception) checks to hear sounds in these caves have advantage.

"What in the Nine Hells was that creature? Its bite was freezing cold and it drained my life force as a vampire or another creature of the night would do." says Krom as the group reaches the other cavern. As they walk, the dwarf attempts to recall information about similar undead creatures.
"But do not worry, we Firebeards are a tough lot, it will take more than a bite to bring me down." says the dwarf with a grin "As I was expecting to face undead creatures in this cave, I have prepared an hymn that will protect our life forces. I'll invoke its power as soon as I see that creature again. It does not last long, only ten minutes, but it should be more than enough to finish it off."

Rhogar nods in response to Krom. And yet, instead of following through on his words for a change in trying to dislodge the frozen pillars of death from the ceiling, patience and conscious still his hands and seal his lips to from uttering a single incantation. "As you wish, Chill. So far, at the very, it seems no more of those frosty fiends have taken up refuge in this chamber as well. But we should mind the ceilings all the same."Rhogar comments, before his eyes narrows as they fell upon the whole. "And continue to mind our... chatter."
Having said all that, both he and Gorrah take one last moment to consider options, before the pair side-eye each other and nod at once. "Rope around."Without further explanation, Gorrah scurried her way deeper into the confines of Rhogar's hoodie once more as the bronze walked alongside the fallen tower nearby to have a peek inside. If nothing then immediately jumps out as interesting, he continues onward, bypassing the giant hole to the north of him until the tunnel spotted seemingly angling northward warranted at least approaching the entryway, prior to then kneeling down to check the ground for tracks in much the same way Chill might.
Chill waits by the last tunnel, close by is Oli, as Krom pauses nearby. Krom doesn't notice anything as he looks around.
Kazri looks around, her divine senses heightened for a moment. Two things happen at the same. She is acutely aware that an undead creature is 20 feet back up the sloped tunnel they just descended. It is still filled with fog and she can't visually see anything, but she knows it is there. At the same time she hears a stream of whispers. She can’t make out what’s being said but can hear her name mentioned now and then. Looking around the whispers can’t be tracked to a source, even her divine sense can't track them. They last for a moment and then fade away. She is the only one who hears the whispers.
Rhogar moves along the edge of the fallen tower. A glance at the hole in the floor shows it is the mouth of a glass-smooth tunnel that slopes south and out of sight. Rhogar finds that access to the toppled tower can be had through its east side, which is open though surrounded by rubble. Inside he can see a number of jumbled items that are partially damaged. Of any interest was a wooden chest.
The passageway to the north has the same slope like the one they descended to get into this cavern. It isn't much of a slope, but enough that you have all realized that while going down them is easy enough, climbing back up them might be slow going.
If Kazri informs the group that an undead creature is following the group, the dwarf holds his shield towards the sloped tunnel and channelling Moradin's power utters an holy word. "Begone in the name of the All-Father!". Moradin's holy symbol flashes as a pulse of radiant energy washes over the slope. "Hopefully, this should buy us some time."
"Shall we take the passage north to return near the dome structure or the south passage? My vote is for going south, we can still back track later." says the dwarf walking towards the edge of the fallen tower. Krom's gaze darts around the cavern, but it keeps focusing back at the sloped tunnel and the undead creature that it is following the group.
Action Turn/Destroy Undead Wis 15
As an action, you present your holy symbol and speak a prayer censuring the undead. Each undead that can see or hear you within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw. If the creature fails its saving throw, it is turned for 1 minute or until it takes any damage. A turned creature must spend its turns trying to move as far away from you as it can, and it can’t willingly move to a space within 30 feet of you. It also can’t take reactions. For its action, it can use only the Dash action or try to escape from an effect that prevents it from moving. If there’s nowhere to move, the creature can use the Dodge action.
Prior to any warnings from others, Rhogar does call out his own discovery in regards to the chest, as well as confess some intent to investigate another path discovered just about the bend. Yet given the difficulties in the retreat foreseen in the slope, both he and Gorrah took a moment to mentally commune with one another, before the latter hisses at the former and takes wing, begrudgingly -- or so it seemed -- to scout out the northern path even had Krom's warning by then reached the duo's "ears".
"If at all possibly, eliminating a threat behind us or their other means of egress would be far more preferred. Though, I do suppose if that tiefling and the rest of her cultist are yet inbound to this place, they may yet be slowed down by these very threats." Rhogar replied after returning to the cleric's side.
