Kazri is trying to remember where they got all the book, so she can put them back to where they belong. She thinks that they will have to come up with a system of identifying the location of each book that they bring to this creature.

Chill watches with amusement as the creature refers to himself in the third person. He makes his way near the arcanaloth in an effort to "assist" him with the books, showing them to him and trying his best to appear friendly and helpful
Deception 10
He looks over the creature trying to see where the scrolls he may try to steal may be. Were they on his person or one of the them that he set aside to look at the books?
Scrivenscry's brows furrow in confusion to the question of the hags. "Scrivenscry knows nothing about hags, at least nothing of hags here in the this fallen city. Dangerous as individuals, far more if there is a full coven and they are together. Ward your sleep if you have angered them. As for the drow, they have likely left if you did not see them and are of no more interest for Scrivenscry. Scrivenscry seeks books and knowledge not relics as the drow did."
Chill moves next to Scrivenscry who initially looks at him suspiciously but then seems to accept the help in looking at the books. This gives Chill an opportunity to get a quick peek at the scrolls the arcanaloth put down when Scrivenscry turns his back at one point. The scrolls did not appear to be spell scrolls. Scrivenscry does have a satchel on his person, perhaps in there?
Krom scratches his chin thoughtfully as the arcanaloth finishes explaining what he knows about the hags and the drow. "It seems that we share the same amount of knowledge about hags. We hoped you could provide us another way to deal with them, perhaps in exchange for our help searching that book of yours." The dwarf turns towards his companions. "We didn't see the drow leave this library. They could still be hiding here somewhere, or they might have left by using magic. Either way, I fear it's best we don't linger here for too long."

Chill contemplates his options and decides he'll take the chance. If he sees an opportunity he'll accidently bump into thr arcanaloth and see if that is enough distraction to lift some spell scrolls from the satchel. That's where they likely are.
Seen the uncharacteristic movement of Chill, Kazri gets a sense of what the Tabaxi is trying to do. "Humm..." She pulls a large tome from the cart. "Are you sure this is not the tome you are looking for? It is very heavy."

Rhogar sighed softly in mild disappointment, but with arms crossed soon after he continued to listen and to a degree observe. "Mn. All too likely my friend. All too likely."He said in response to Krom with Gorrah nodding sagely in agreement. And while she strained her senses to try and detect any invisible creature yet lingering in the immediate vicinity around Rhogar, the dragonborn looked from his compatriots to the fiend and asked, "Alternatively, I don't suppose during your investigation you hadn't happened upon one of the steps that might allow one to breach the city center? Or if not that, a means of extricating that knowledge from say... a tower turned into rubble?"
The arcanaloth stiffens, his fur bristling as he feels the subtle tug on his satchel. His sharp, canine eyes narrow, and with a swift, dismissive motion, he brushes Chill's hand away with a growl. "And what exactly do you think you're doing to Scrivenscry?" he hisses, his voice dripping with suspicion and indignation. "Trying to steal from Scrivenscry?" His words rise in a sharp crescendo, each syllable packed with venom. He jabs a long, clawed finger pointedly at Chill, his gaze piercing. The room seems to tense with his accusation, and for a brief moment, it feels as if the very air has turned hostile.
Gorrah looks about the room but her blindsight does not see any invisible drow.

Chill quickly puts his hands up, palms out, and the most innocent face he could.
"No, no you are mistaken. I just bumped into you. I was reaching for that heavy book and lost my balance a bit and put my hand out to catch myself. That's all, I swear!" He says emphatically trying to talk his way out of trouble.
Krom stiffens as Scrivenscry points his clawed finger at Chill. The dwarf's hand slowly begins to move towards the handle of his warhammer. However, he halts mid-motion as the tabaxi steps forward, attempting to defuse the situation. Krom watches the exchange intently, ready to act, but hopeful that Chill's persuasion attempt will prevail.
Chill's steadfast declaration of innocence seems to placate the arcanaloth, if only temporarily. Its glowing eyes narrow as they scan Chill from head to toe, lingering for a moment with a hint of skepticism. Then, with a low, guttural huff, it waves a clawed hand dismissively, apparently deciding not to pursue the matter further.
"Very well," the arcanaloth growls, its tone edged with a mixture of irritation and finality. "But best you keep your distance from Scrivenscry."
Turning back to the group, it continues with a slow, deliberate sneer, "Scrivenscry no longer desires your... assistance. If you are not librarians, then you have no purpose here. Leave this place at once. Scrivenscry will locate the books without your meddling."
The creature's tone makes it abundantly clear that its patience is wearing thin, its demeanor like that of a gatekeeper teetering on the edge of barring entry altogether.
After getting over the surprise of the incident (having momentarily forgotten the back up plan), Rhogar sighs and softly shook his head once. "We do yet have purpose here, Scrivenscry. Knowledge we yet seek among the stacks, if not from you it seems."The dragonborn stated plainly before raising a hand in a halting gesture. "But, in the interest of giving tempers a smidgen of time to settle, perhaps we should depart for now, my friends. There's plenty yet more for us to seek and deal with it in this city, and... enough of our table, much as I am ashamed to admit. So, best we see to it. I doubt our... fellow knowledge seeker here will be departing any time soon, so we can always return at a better time to try and find common ground once more."
Seeing that Chill's efforts have at least partially diffused the tensions, Krom relaxes a little bit. The dwarf turns towards his companions, he says in a firm tone, "Rhogar is right. Let's leave this place, at least for now. The drow already have an advantage on us, and we still have a lot of ground to cover." As Krom adjusts his shield and prepares to leave the room, the dwarf glances back at Kingsport. With a reassuring smile, the dwarf says, "Have faith." Krom then steps towards the exit.
Kazri drops the heavy tome she was holding back to the cart. "Very well then. Oli, let us leave this place." She pats the Owlbear as they leave the Library. She will be the last to leave.

Kingsport looks at you sadly as you leave but nods his understanding. You make your way out of the library and see no sign of the drow until you fully exit. Where you saw only drow tracks leading in there are now extra tracks leading away from the library and towards the Tower of Divination.
As the group exits the library, Krom turns towards the tabaxi and speaking in a relieved tone says "That was a close one, Chill. I'm glad you managed to defuse the situation well. We have got enough enemies already." "Speaking of enemies, they will be in for a surprise soon enough." Krom says as the group notices that the drow are heading towards the Tower of Divination. The dwarf points southward with his hammer indicating another tower. "That tower over there should be the Tower of Abjuration. Shall we resume our march?"
"Sorry friends, I messed that up. I thought I had an opportunity but clearly I didn't. Fortunately it didn't devolve into a fight."
He looks in the direction the drow went.
"Are we chasing the drow down or no? That's why we came to the library. I think they may have valuable information though they probably won't give it up without a fight. But I'm not sure we want that lose thread hanging out there. They may show back up at an inopportune time. I think we take care of them first."
Rhogar grimaced seeing the sad look on Kingsport... or at least what he thought to be sad one, in any event. But he remained as resolute as the others in departing with trust in returning yet in time to help. "If I would not shame myself in the doing, I would laugh at their impending misfortune. But considering how willing they were to bargain with hags it is, eh, likely they'd be more than willing to make even more sacrifices in pursuit of whatever relic they are. Which I still feel we are presuming much on that front." Rhogar frowned and rubbed his chin. "But as Scrivenscry had little reason to manipulate us with false information, I suppose I'm just being too hopeful... E-Either way, I'd prefer not active pursuit since it'll involve essentially doubling back far sooner than I would like. But if the rest of you wish to do so, then let us be off swiftly after them. Preferably before they can slip away on us again."

Krom scratches his chin thoughtfully as Chill and Rhogar voice their opinions. "Even though I, too, think those drow will need to be dealt with, one way or another, I agree with Rhogar. Going after them now, towards a tower we already visited, it doesn't seem like the best course of action." Krom says in a calm tone of voice. "We missed them here in the library, but sooner or later, our paths will cross again. For now, I think that we should focus on our quest. The people of Ten Towns are counting on us to stop the Frostmaiden. We cannot fail."
