Right. Right. Rules. Jeff would pause to try to make mental notes. Any ship caught attacking or unduly interfere with another competing vessel...
Jeff would grin, steepling his fingers to drum them together. He'd saunter up to saddle up beside the Captain.
"Captain, permission to have Lucky fingers on standby?" Jeff would jazz hands.
Bend LuckPHB, pg. 103
When another creature you can see makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw, you can use your reaction and spend 2 sorcery points to roll 1d4 and apply the number rolled as a bonus or penalty (your choice) to the creature’s roll. You can do so after the roll but before any effects occur.
Tides of ChaosPHB, pg. 103
Once per long rest, you can gain advantage on one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. Before you regain use of this feature, the DM can have you roll on the Wild Magic Surge table after you cast a 1st level or higher spell. You then regain the use of this feature.
Toni shakes out of her reverie on their ship at the regatta, "I'm sorry, Jeff. What? OH! yes, keep those fingers lucky...Lucky." Toni goes over to Dani and whispers in her ear, "You know the rules, right? I think I spaced out for a moment."

Dani pulls up the rules notes. "Start here, go through the fringes of the Eye of Abendego, end at Coaming Point. No attacking anyone else, not even the kidnapping asshats." She shoots another glare in Harrigan's direction. "The Eye is gonna be dangerous as ****."
What does Dani know about the Eye of Abendego?
History: 12 (Same mod if it's anything Int based unless it's Religion, in which case add 3 to that number)
Dani knows that the Eye of Abendego is a black hole that has been in existence for the past 100 years and is a major natural defense for the Diaspora, as its presence discourages the Chelish from launching an invasion.

The race begins first thing the next morning. Tessa Fairwind and Captain Merrill hail you to wish you good luck. "Go get the win. I know that you can do it." It takes an hour, but you and the rest of the competition are able to line your ships up at the starting point. After a countdown from 3 to 1, The Kraken launches out a flare and the race begins!
Dani, give me a DC16 Computers check to see if you can zoom zoom and give The Reclaimer a good head start.

Captain Toni moves over to the Robotic sharpshooter Arc, giving a nod to them as they prepare to plot the course, "Arc, you've got this, find us a way to bypass all the other suckers and keep the ship safe, eh?" she smirks as a portion of her charismatic energy coalesces into adrenaline for the Fighter. Arc does not feel adrenaline, but he is...grateful? for the confidence boost as the Captain urges him on. Plugging into the racer's navigation, he pulls up his subroutines to focus on finding a path and begins to read it out, "Heading....found. Mark."
Arc is able to successfully plot a course that skirts the edge of the Eye of Abendego while not falling in and Dani is able to expertly pilot the ship along the route, more than making up for the middling start the Reclaimer had at the beginning of the race. You are able to make it to the midpoint of the race, where your route takes the Reclaimer through a small asteroid field. As you continue to fly through, it appears that one of the asteroids is drifting towards you and the life scanner on the ship is going off.
One of you will need to make a DC18 Survival check to see why the Life Scanner is acting up at the moment.

Already tapped into the ship's navigation, it's a small hop away within the software to access the Life Scanners and attempt to direct them at the asteroid. Strangely or not, Arc does this without any directive given to him.

Unfortunately, that still fails so you do not notice that the asteroid is actually a living creature until it unfurls itself and yeets some debris at you.
