At 500 his father died in Greenest during a Dragon attack on the ramparts of the keep being the best archer in town. So Vicnent At 19 helped support his mother when he was very young, Vicnent made a decent living by slight of hand and an occasional game of chance or skill he always looked for opportunities treasure he could bring home in the form of food, odd jobs here and there till his human mother Iris passed away. His (Human) uncle Buck found him mourning and took him to Neverwinter where he helped in the guard fighting off Lusken raiders and skirmishes to the north.
One day he felt the urge to visit his old home and see how things have been. Mostly to visit his mothers grave
He found that his home was now an Inn. Auctioned off due to taxes to the famous Volocamp who gave it to an adventuring group as payment for services rendered.
He stayed there a few times and swore he felt his fathers loving presence but he felt the lure of people and adventure So he left and became a caravan guard and traveled to a place called Barthans in Phandelin
Backstory: Nevari remembers the first trip to the ancient temple. A lot smaller than everyone thought, and no particular rooms or relics of interest, so they decided to leave. During the night, Nevari found her bare feet slapping on the mud in the rain as she being called back. Her fingers tracing the markings the others thought were a forgotten language. As the stone doors slid open they open to the vast dark expanse to which Nevari threw herself in.
With a start, she woke in her tent. At first the dream began to fade, before she shivered in her wet night garments and her feet covered in mud. Back at the college, everything returned to normal on the surface; the teaching, the seminars and discussions. But deep below, her usual thoughts were beginning to fray. Unable to recall even the most basic of spells, and feeling a power surge through that could leave to so much more...
Her early retirement due to stress wasn't a complete lie, but she was now free to find the source of the constant writhing shadows that reach out to her in the night ever since...
Backstory: Unaril was not actually born as a goblin but was instead born as Calanon Yulman, a half elf born to a family of knights from the city of Silverymoon. As the child of two knights he was trained from a young age to fight with all types of weaponry and honorable tactics. So as was expected upon coming of age he became a squire and eventually a knight in service to his city.
During one of his first quests, he joined an elder group of knights in finding a rogue wizard that had stolen from the great libraries of the realm and in general was a threat to the people of the lands around Silverymoon. The battle that followed showed that the wizard was no mere dabbler in the arts of the arcane but a lich of no small power. While the others fought bravely, the young Calanon was overwhelmed as his own still budding skills were of no match for the undead mage. The souls of the other were harvested but to taunt the half elf for being a coward, the lich gave him a much different punishment. He twisted the form of Calanon into the form of a lowly goblin, breaking both his mind and body.
Upon awakening Calanon was no more, instead left as Unaril a goblin forced to serve as entertainment for the living minions of the lich. From being a servant to a tool for their amusement, Unaril sufferd through many things. As he lived through this the goblon learned that he somehow knew the way to wield a weapon and armor, memories left from his past existence. This was followed by faint whispers in his head, telling him he was meant for much more. Inspired by the voice he found the courage to gain his freedom, soon escaping. Since then he has traveled as a warrior, fighting to make his way while knowing he had a greater calling.

Shane McGee
Human (variant) Bard with a Criminal background
Shane grew up in a fairly large port city and so was always exposed to all kinds of people. His father worked on the docks and his mother, from time to time, picked up some extra coinage waiting tables at the Hungry Halfling. More often than not, Shayne hung around the tavern when she worked for the free food and the excitement of the general hustle and bustle of the place.
Shayne listened to the music and the stories and breathed in both as if they were air. The more Shayne grew the more he changed from avid listener to performer and storyteller. He quickly learned he could use his charm and skills to make coin in ways other than entertaining and his fingers grew more and more nimble at cutting purse strings and palming loose objects and slipping them out of sight. Shayne plied his skills all around town, except for the Hungry Halfling - No need to let his family catch on to his more disreputable ways... Eventually Shayne felt the need to expand his horizons and strike out into the world, both due to wanderlust and a need to make a hasty retreat before the authorities came knocking.
As a traveling bard it is Shayne's goal to see and experience as much as possible to help compose a magnum opus which will be remembered long after he is gone. But to craft such a thing one needs experience... Bard, traveller and a bit of a rogue, Shayne prefers to charm and talk his way out of scrapes but isn't totally unprepared to get dirty if need be.

Name: Newt Raveneye
Class: Cleric <Trickery, Brandobaris>
Race: Lightfoot Halfling
Background:
Newt is an orphan. His father was a scamp and adventuring priest of Bandobaris who perished on some grand adventure. His mother dies in childbirth. He was raised by the a priest of Brandobaris and taught to follow the Trickster's teachings.
Backstory: So there he was, just minding his own business, healing people as needed it, doing some light guard duty to fill in the times when money was tight. Every now and then he'd sneak out to the woods and just hike to a waterfall or a mountain overlook just to marvel at creation, but life was pretty simple. That was until the "Order" made him an offer he shouldn't refuse. Travel to Phandelin and look after some hotshot lordling Percival the Spider-something...all without letting him know that Evan was in the employ of his father, paid to keep the son in good health and protected now that the lad was on his own. Oh well, maybe he can do some good along the way too--these adventuring types always needed healing anyway, right?

Is it just me? Or does this seem like one half of an interesting pair of characters? Kinda tempted to rewrite my character as Percival, lol.

Lol that’s awesome. I just looked at the link and found he’s a sorcerer instead of the paladin or fighter (samurai) I first assumed, heh. And with magic missile, in before ‘I cast magic missile at the darkness’ memes 😎
