After a huddled conversation at the tavern, the five of you decide that you'd be well served in joining forces to further investigate the seeming disappearance of Frankie Fourfingers, and perhaps along the way discover some of the riches he apparently found in the Marsh. You plan your expedition and discuss your various resources to be able to best handle venturing from the safety of town.

"Well, now that we've gotten our things sorted, we're ready to be off. But, uh... which direction do we wish to go? I can try to locate more of those coins now, but I'm only able to perform such magics a couple of times before we take a longer rest. Horatio, did you get more from the bartender that might point our compass?" Morn stands looking at the map of the areas surrounding Trishdale, making notes and sketches in his book.
“I suggest we travel along the Old Road for a few miles before turning off towards the marsh,” says Sirq, re-examining the map. “But I’m no expert with maps or the wilderness they reveal.”
"Maybe somebody in town knows in which direction Freddie left, but looking at this map honestly, if I wold plan a trip to those marshes, I'd probably follow that river. Freddie might have used a boat, that could be a safer and faster way to get there than traversing the woods. Maybe we should ask th locals if they think it's possible to travel by boat on that river. "
"Before we authorize any such expenditures, it might interest you all to know that I believe I have located Freddie Fourfinger's former abode. I recommend a stop there first - we might find some more clues regarding Freddie's recent explorations, and we may want to have a conversation with a dog."
Horatio's last comment amusesTrinjya and she gives a high, clear laugh.
"That sounds like a good idea and at the same time a bit ridicolous. I agree that dogs can be a good conversational partner when you need someone to listen, but rarely did I see a sane man demand answers. But anyways, where is the place and how did you find it?"
"do not dismiss him on this. not all dogs are rendered dumb, and some can remember events from the first time with their most recent master." Samael speaks out, "but it would be best to check his home, I concur."
Horatio leads the crew through the rather dreary little town, and find a small home that is exactly what you picture a 9-fingered hard drinking scavenger with a dog's home would look like. There is a small space in the back with an outdoor kennel, chain lying in the fallen leaves.
Somewhat rickety shutters are drawn, and the door is locked.

"Clearly the man does not want to be disturbed," says Sirq after trying the door. "If he is even in there..." He tries to peer through the drawn blinds to catch a glimpse of Frankie or his dog... (Perception: 21)

((Weather: 53 ))
A light clouds roll in, putting a bit of chill in the fall air as they block the sun's warmth while you look about the place you take to be Frankie's home.
Sirq, peering in through what you can see through the shutters, the interior is dark, and doesn't seem to be occupied. Though if he's been missing a few days, seems perhaps someone would have popped by to check on him. It would be a poor adventure indeed if he'd just been sitting at home mending his socks by the fire!
Samael notes much the same as he walks around back, but checking out the kennel, notes that a few of the early falling leaves have partially covered the chain, and the ground doesn't seem recently disturbed. Doesn't seem the dog has been chained up here for at least a couple days.
Horatio walks carefully around the house, looking for an easy entrance. Not finding one (presumably) he closes his eyes for a moment, then looks expectantly at the front door.
"I used to have my means to get in, but I ... lost my tools back on the old continent. I'm sure we could break the doors some how, not so sure if the folks around here would appreciate it too much."
When Trinjya notices Horatio staring at the door she asks
"Are you up to something? I heard about people who had the power to break what ever lock that was in their way with magic. "
(DM Question - sounds like a stupid question, but is the door locked with a key lock or just barred? You just say it's locked above, and the assumption would be lock, but it could also be barred. If it's barred I can use my Mage Hand to open it.)

Morn nods, "That sounds like a wise plan. I'm sure we can secure a boat or barge of some kind."

Trinjya and Morn watch Horatio watch the door, when a soft metallic sound emanates from it.
((It's not a complex lock, but it's a 'lock from the outside when you leave' rather than just a 'bar from the inside when you are sleeping'.))

what kind of lock are we dealing with, and is it weak to anything?
