Valhik steels himself as the construct attacks Owin, getting close to himself as well. Steering clear as Erbert sends more fire the scarecrow's way, he then jumps forward and sends his rapier plunging towards the straw-man's torso.

Scarecrow WIS Save 14
The scarecrow looks at you as your melody reaches it and you think for a second it seems to be on the verge of just surrendering itself to the flames and letting itself be consumed, but it stops itself, and points a long ashy claw at you.
"Ssssssoooood yyyyyyooooouuuuuu." It gasps, in an eerie reflection of the Goliath's voice.
As he's speaking, he doesn't even seem to notice Valhik drawing his rapier and driving it through the side of the his head, poking it the entire way through the straw and out the other side. It seems like the scarecrow cannot take much more punishment.

WIS SAVE: 11
The knock from the scarecrow knocks Owin back, he gives a loud grunt as he bends low.
As the others attack he readies his attack.
Taking an oil soaked cloth from his tinderbox and wrapping it quickly and tightly to the arrow head, knocking the arrow, aiming and firing quickly through the flame from his torch...
Noachi's next arrow flies through the air with a whoosh and hits the grassy straw creature square in the middle of his forehead. The scarecrow sinks to its knees an with one final unholy shriek that rings in all of your ears, the creature falls to the ground, in the midst of the bonfire. The unholy light that seems to animate the creature's eyes fades and the night is silent once more, save for your own heavy breathing.
“Righto.” says Erbert. “Nothing that a little fire couldn’t cure. Should we press on to the Jaltrim farm?” He straightens up and walks over to the smoldering straw and disperses it with his foot.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Owin still kneels before the flickering torch, grasping his side as he regains his breathing.
He slowly rises, grabs the torch and then approaches the fallen scarecrow, retrieving his axes and hooking them on to his belt again.
He'll hold his torch up on the side that isn't wounded, keeping his other arm at his wounded side protectively. "I'll keep my torch lit. Shall we move on, then?"
Valhik lets the scarecrow's head slide of the blade of his rapier as he falls and places it back into its scabbard in one smooth and graceful motion. Still watching the smoldering remains as he listens to his companions advocate for moving on he nods. "No sense in staying put for something else to find us." Taking out his own torch he lights it against Owin's and takes his place in line once more.

Hurmfar looks down at the smouldering remains of the scarecrow.
”Och, this nasty bit of straw wasn’t just out for a wee sodding moonlight stroll. He was some sort of sentry. A warning to scare those daft enough to poke around here. Some scabby numpty is up to no good. That’s for sure.”
As you continue to walk, the rest of the journey to the Jaltrim place seems to go by without incident. Hurmfar, you keep your eyes on the road and it seems to be clear, but the darkness in the Felderwin Tillage all around you really limits your visibility.
After another twenty minutes or so of travel, you reach a point in the road with a farm on either side. On one side is a massive ranch, with a grand, three-story elegant farmhouse, a large barn, a stables and numerous other little buildings with a massive acreage stretching behind it as far as your eyes can see. Of course, even at this distance, you can see that most of it has been burnt to the ground, the bounty of crops that you would expect to see at harvest time being completely missing Over the massive, intricately made iron arch, you see a carved metal stump, indicating that this, is in fact, the Stump Ranch.
On the other side is a much more modest field with a farmhouse that could be called quaint if you are feeling charitable, cramped if you are not. The entire field is bounded by a white fence that looks to have been made by hand. Three horses are tied to the front of the farmhouse and two goats roam the acreage near to you, seemingly on a fruitless search for something to eat. You can see a candle burning in the front window of this farmhouse. It seems as though someone is home and awake currently at the Jaltrim place.
Now that they’re here, Hurmfar wonders what he had expected to find. Some wizard casting spells and burning fields?
“Me mum always said the best way to deal with a spot of trouble was to take it by the ears and give it a good smack with a spoon.” He nods at the door. “We could just give the wee door there a tap and see what’s what.”
Erbert and Noachi -- the both of you see a few shadows flickering behind the candle - there are at least two people inside the farmhouse. You pause and listen for a moment, but there doesn't seem to be any sounds or other obvious signs of a struggle.
Valhik addresses the group as they wait a ways apart from the farmhouse. "I think it likely that the people present may already know we have approached this far. Several of us are carrying torches after all. I do however doubt they have a good accounting of our group.. I propose that some of use attempt the straightforward approach and knock, while the others sneak around and see what they can find out back."

As Noachi and Erbert approach the back of the house, the two of you hear what sounds like an argument between a male voice and a female one. You don't catch ever word, but it does sound like the man wants to leave the Tillage and travel elsewhere, outside the Empire. The woman, on the other hand, is insisting that they need to stay and make a go of it.
As the two of you crouch near the backdoor of the farmhouse, Noachi accidentally steps down on a some dried out cornhusks. There is a loud crunching sound and the voices in the house cease for an instant, replaced by some whispers.
Then the door opens and a large man emerges, carrying a heavy club. He steps out of the door, scanning around. He doesn't seem to see the two of you yet, as he squints into the darkness.
Around the front as Hurmfar knocks, the door is opened a sliver and a half-elven woman , with a bronze complexion and coppery locks peers out at you. Seeing the bulk of the Goliath at the door, she utters an involuntary little gasp, but quickly recovers her composure. "What is it? Is someone ill? Hurt?" Her eyes narrow. "Or are you here for Deke? Its a bit late for a social call, and we don't get too many Goliaths in the TIllage." She seems to draw something nearer to her from behind the door. "You best state your business."
(If we approached the farmhouse from the right side and went around the rear in that direction) :
In the dark, quiet as can be, Erbert points his finger at the direction of Hurmfarand sends a message saying "Shout like one of us is walking around the house on the left side and coming to the front."
Right after sending that, I cast minor illusion to create the sound of a man walking in corn husks walking from the rear left of the house around toward the front.
I find the darkest, quietest place and stay hidden.

Hurmfar watches Noachi and Erbert slink off.
"Direct it is then," he says and marches up to the front door, whistling something resembling a jig as he walks.
Once at the door he raps against it three times.
"Hullo in the house." he calls in a deep booming voice.
