Lena eager to rest, sits down at a nearby table and makes simple pleasant conversation with the tavern's patrons. She is enticed by the smell and offer of free food and begins eating whatever is offered to her. Whenever she finds a particularly delicious and exotic piece she wanders around to the others trying to share it with them.
(Rickard takes the bag of coppers and looks gratefully at Gerard.)
"You're too kind. But it is I who owes you a debt for bringing my girl home, safe and sound."
(Rickard brings out his own bag of coins.)
"I promised you and your friends all of the gold I have, and I intend to keep that promise. All of you have earned this."
(He gets the attention of the party, who is all sitting around a table talking to various patrons. He places the gold on the table.)
"100 Gold Pieces. I'm only sorry it's so little in the grand scheme of things. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for bringing my little girl back. I think I should take Bess home now, though, to rest. Please, come see us before you leave town. You will always be welcome in my humble home."
(Bess, who Jack has been looking after for a bit, comes back and stands next to her father. She looks at all of you with her adorable, innocent face.)
"Thank you for saving me from the mean green men."
(Rickard gives Bess the bag of coppers and the two head out of the tavern.)
Spoiler for Gerard
I'll address your asking the townspeople on the next post, I just want to let everyone else RP this first.
Nikita generally receeds as much as he can from conversation, though as politely as he can, and attempts to simply listen to the others or quietly deflect any storytelling requests to the more gregarious of his companions. He’s not comfortable eating or drinking around others and even less so with being a point of attention.

"Maybe his house needs to be repaired after the attack? We could help pay for them, anonymously of course." Lena says looking at the bag. She thinks for a few seconds, before an idea come to her.
"Oh. We could use it to supply ourselves for when we go back down into the cave though. If we find any kind of treasure down there we could give them a share, like if they were an investor. At least I think that's how that works I don't know much about human business stuffs." She shrugs, leaving the decision up to the rest of the group. Is that fresh baked bread she smells? Lena wanders off to continue feasting.
Ok everyone, I'm really liking this group, and though this was meant as a one-shot, if you all are wanting to continue after this I'd be happy to keep DMing. If you all agree, let's go ahead and go thru the process of leveling up. Please look thru the rules for your leveling up and go ahead and post your hit dice rolls (don't forget to add your Constitution Modifier) and which choices you make if applicable. I'm as new as most of you, so if there's something confusing we'll try to figure it out. Some of you are going to have to pick spells or schools or whatever else the rules indicate. If anyone doesn't want to continue, that's fine, just let me know.
Thanks guys, and Happy Christmas (or whatever) to you all. :)
And here I was thinking the Tomb was still part of the one shot :)
I'll take the average for HP if that's cool (too terrified of a bad roll, which I seem to attract), so +5(+2) for a total of 17 after I get long rest or a heal...
Re: Spells - I'm new to casters, so apparently I had shorted myself one "known spell" (swapped slots for spells known in my head it seems) - That being the case I should now have 3 known 1st level spells, with two 1st level slots to cast from, 2 cantrips, and 2 invocations... these are as follows:
(Gerard asks around to some of the tavern patrons if anyone has heard of the Delian order or Sextus Varius. They all say sorry, but they don't know much about either of those things. Just as Gerard is getting discouraged, he comes to a table where an old, old lady is sitting. Probably in her 80s or 90s, wearing a shawl and drinking cider, her snow white hair neatly kept up in a bun. She is very hard of hearing, but once they mention the Delian Order to her, she kind of peps up, and starts talking in her old grandma voice.)
"Delian Order, you say? Why, I haven't heard that in years. When I was a little girl, my Grandpappy told me about his grandfather, how he'd been a knight a long time ago. Of course, we all thought Grandpappy was just telling stories, like he used to. But the Delian Order, that's what he said he belonged to. Something about protecting the town from evil. You know how it is. Stories of saving damsels and slaying dragons. I thought he was just doing it to entertain me, but he never let on. Said he was kilt fighting and given a heroes burial. Don't know where, exactly. Not in our regular graveyard, I can tell you that much. I wonder where? Huh? No, no, that's alls I remember..."
(She goes back to drinking her cider, a twinkle in her eye...)
I presume we're getting a night's rest at this tavern, if they have rooms, and heading out for a supply run and to satisfy our curiosity at the tomb in the morning?

Lena passes Carxus a particularly spicy version of an ankheg paddie and his entire face turns as red as his scales when he takes a bite.
