Carxus strangely responds to Gerard’s dog whistle and follows him out of the room.

Lena follows Carxus out of the room.

(The party clears the room for safety. Nikta casts Mage Hand and uses it to push the buttons in the order on the engraving, 462315. A rumbling is heard, then a hissing, like an airlock opening. You see the bigger Sarcophagus lid swing open, revealing a mummified corpse. Resting between his hands is a very nice looking Longsword, with a handle that looks almost like it's made from a blue tinted steel. A loud, booming voice suddenly speaks.)

"Show yourself, my Delian brother. Why do you call upon the spirit of Sextus Varius?"

(Whispering to the rest of the group)

"I get the feeling this guy's not going to be super stoked if we just answer back 'LOOT'..."

Lena not realizing the skeleton probably can't understand her.

"Hello! I'm Lena Tealeaf. We're exploring you tomb,sorry to awaken you sir." She says or at least tries to , everyone else just hears her barking.

“Yeah...” Carxus adds, “...what she said.” 

(The voice of Sextus Varius booms as Gerard kneels before the large Sarcophagus.) 

"The world may have forgotten us, but as long as heroes step forward to protect the innocent, our ideals live on."

(The sword begins to glow and floats towards the kneeling Gerard.)

"You have sworn the Oath of the Delian Order. From this day forward, YOU shall be a Delian Knight. Uphold your oath and our ideals, brother."

(The sword floats and 'knights' Gerard, moving slowly as it moves to his right and left shoulders.)

"I bequeath to you the only thing I have left to give. I give you... Defender..."

(The sword glows a pale blue as it floats in front of Gerard, beckoning to him. He grabs it from mid-air and is temporarily covered in the same blue glow as the sword.)

"Farewell..."

(The voice fades away, the lid closes on the Sarcophagus, and the numbered buttons make a noise as they 'reset'. The pale blue light slowly fades away, and Gerard is left with a beautiful new Longsword.)

"Well, that went well!"

I begin looking around the room for any other access points, trying to ascertain if there is any way "deeper" into the cave system... or if this tomb romb (snicker) is the end point...

Perception: 20

(Apparently I have some dust in my eyes...)

"What the hell, not like I had a full calendar anyway, right? Here's to hoping my Patron doesn't painfully disqualify me..." I say through my scarf, "I pledge to serve law, protect the innocent, battle the agents of chaos, and never reveal the secrets of the Delian Order. My word is my bond, my life and honor is for the order, for this night and all nights to come."

(Nikta takes a quick look around the room. There does not appear to be any other entrances or exits. 

Nikta has sworn the oath. Defender glows ever so slightly.)

DMs note: This is your guys show now, let me know what you want to do. 

Lena changes back into her halfling form. She stands there fidgeting slightly.

"I-I don't know if I can Gerard. Its just, I have never been one to stay in one place and I do have a tribe I'm expected to return to someday. I don't want to be rude but I'm not sure about swearing an oath to an Order I've barely heard about. I mean I like helping people but- oh goodness." She say quietly. playing with the leather straps on her chest.

Carxus looks at the glowing sword with curiosity.

“Maybe this...is what I need.  Maybe this...will stop the nightmares or...help me face the evil I see every night. It must be a...sign.” 

He kneels before Gerard and the glowing blade.

OOC: Are we getting the feeling that this is the extent of this cave system/tomb? or am I forgetting a route we've found?

In the interest of moving forward...

(The party searches the area thoroughly, but does not find any other passages.)

I sort of nervously take the sword, carefully, as if it were fragile, and repeat the words Gerard recited to me with a little rhyming flare: "As Sextus Varius and Sir Gerard knighted me, so do I knight thee, Carxus." and gingerly hand the sword back to Gerard. "Seems like we definitely could have just stayed on with Bess and left  during our first visit, but then, better safe than sorry. Lets head back to town, reconcile Ricard's gold and see what else we might be able to help with."

Lena relaxes.

"Thank you, Gerard. I shall put some thought into it. For now lets head back to the village. This place puts me on edge."
