Seeing his tactic finally work, Kane casts “Eldritch Blast” again at the kobold attacking him. He tries to protect Roladd but not get in Linan’s way. To hit: 17
The arrow flies above the kobold's head as he slashes with his knife at Nurm, but his 'victory' is short lived as the githzerai kills him, the three bolts of power he created and Kane's blast striking against him at the same time.
The kobold attacking the family and Kane manages to stab Linan, but Gunra slays him easily with his battleaxe. "...Thank you." She says, dropping the shield to use her now free hand to stop the bleeding of her wound.
From the eight kobolds, six are dead and one has already escaped, leaving only one: The striped kobold who was attacking Petmailer. Using the distraction given by the other attacks happening simultaneously, he grabs the sickle lying on the ground... And gets promptly attacked by Harmony, ending him. The combat is over.
"...Bunch of cruel lizards."Linan says.
Helping his wife, Cuth turns to the party. "You saved us, thank you. We need to go to the Keep, it might the only place those criminals haven't breached yet, but it's not going to be easy. They are everywhere..."
Looking around you, you see that in effect there's groups of cultists everywhere you look, and you all will need to be very careful in order to avoid getting their attention.
On the other hand, the Keep is still standing as everything else is burning, and in this day of calamity and misfortune that might be a ray of hope by itself.
Petmailer says "Let's head to the keep, at the sally port there is a tunnel that can lead us to safety, we must go swiftly and quietly. Gather together, gather the children and let's move." He gathers his gear and prepares to head that way if all agree.
Petmailer keeps his long bow out and ready, prepared to shoot down any cultist that heads their way. He remembers the direction and discussion with Escobert and looks for him and the others at our round table discussion, that seems to have occurred so long ago...
Yes, the keep is the only option now. We were foolish that we waited until the morning.
Edit: Seeing the town is swarming with the cultists, Nurm focuses his mind and shimmering, almost invisible field of psionic energy appears around him. Mage Armor
Kane goes over to Linan to make sure she’s alright. After that, he nods in agreement with Petmailer’s plan. “Those savages are everywhere. We must be careful.”
Gunra nods at Kane, a sign of his approval for the tiefling's care. His blood was still pumping - his axe was still bloody. There was a fresh strength urging him on. They couldn't save Greenest, the evacuation had started to late, but they could at least save these people. He rolls his shoulder and begins to head in the direction of the keep.
"It's okay to take a step back, friends. Mama didn't lay any weaklings."

Linan was stabbed in the side, and there's a stain of blood in her dress from the wound, but she claims she's fine. "I'm sure the priest made it to the Keep, he will heal me when we get there." She assures. "Please, do not worry."
Still, Cuth stays by her side to help her walk. When leaving, he grabs the sickle out of the dead kobold's hands to not go unharmed, but it's obvious that he has never held a weapon.
As for the kids, Zackary is still holding onto his father, while Zirca walks towards Harmony and grabs her hand. The little girl is visibly shaking.
Roladd is walking besides his mother, but he turns to Kane to ask. "Are you okay? The bandits were hurting you..."
Behind you, the inn 'The Swift Stag' burns to the ground as you all walk away from there. No one in the family looks behind them or comments on it.
The path to the Keep is filled with cultists, both kobolds and of other races. You can hear sounds of fighting and slaughter.
Blocking the way, you see a group of four masked cultists walking alongside an ambush drake. Luckily, they have yet to see any of you.
"We could walk past them by going through the grass." Cuth suggests in a whisper.
But Linan shakes her head at the idea. "There is going to be more of those things hiding on the tall grass." She whispers back, her voice even more hushed than his, while pointing at the drake.
"...It's either one of those things, or them." He answers her.
Gunra pulls up short. That drake looked dangerous but he was still feeling the high of successful combat - or perhaps it was the inspiration he had been bestowed with. He looks to each of his allies, perhaps a little bit of a manic glint in his eyes. Right now he is not unlike a large dog expecting to play.
"Easier to be ambushed in the grass. Harder to protect Cuth and the kids there. Or we could be lucky and just lose a little bit of time."

Petmailer says in a low voice “I think we should avoid a fight here and take our chances in the tall grass, go around them. Or, if there is any cover here, we also have cultist uniforms, we could be “captured prisoners” being taken to the keep. Want to try?”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Not buying Linan's story for a minute, Harmony hums a gentle tune that might be some sort of lullaby as the others speak. (Healing word for 8) She squeezes Zirca's hand comfortingly, making sure that the girl is towards the inside of the group where she'll be more protected. "Taking our chances in the grass sounds like the better option to me. And I doubt these cultists are taking prisoners."
We should avoid the cultists as much as possible. They are too much a threat for the family. Those four legged lizards will be easier to deal with.
((If the group agrees to use the "grass route")):
Nurm, moves to the front of the group. Using his mental powers, he tries to spread the grass in front of him ((Mage Hand)) to uncover a possible danger at least i tiny bit earlier.
“Agreed. After you Nurm.” Petmailer sends a message to everyone saying “Stay low and quiet, let’s sneak through the grass and around these guys.” He readies his bow in case they are spotted.

“I don’t have many spells left after the fights weigh the kobolds, so I agree with the grass route.” Kane says. He stays near the family to help Linan and to calm down the kids. “While we walks, would you like to hear a story about a gnoll named Leyding?” he asks the kids.
After Harmony heals her, Linan whispers to her. "You shouldn't have wasted a spell on me. I told you, I'm fine..."Despite the comment, she's obviously thankful, and more importantly she's now capable of walking without her husband's help.
Harmony's hummed melody also helps to comfort Zirca. The girl is still afraid, but she's no longer trembling like a leaf. Both her and Zackary turn their heads toward Kane when he offers to tell them a story.
"...A gnoll? Is it a scary story?" Roladd asks. "I like stories..." Zackary suddenly speaks, his cheeks still wet with tears.
Nurm, you spread the grass to make a path to walk in with your psionic powers. You see some mice running away scared by the sudden disturbance, but there appears to be no danger inside, at least in the patch of grass right in front of you.
Looking back at the cultist group, you can see that they are starting to walk in another direction, but the drake is now standing still and sniffing the air.
Everyone, make a Stealth check.
