OOC: Lol I'll keep the travel roll for tomorrow's in-game roll. I apologize my note was confusing. Erika already rolled a 73 for this 'day' bit I'll use it for the next 'day'...
Areon insight them maybe? They've followed and been visible for an hour or so....
The day should grow warmer but this side of the mountain is shaded by the large canopy of trees and casts a shadow over the group. The mountain itself seems to block the rising morning sun. Pockets of the odd woodland are shrouded in darkness but the path moves on uneventfully. That night at camp the party keep a better watch on equipment and the gear. The next morning they find nothing has been stolen and that the glitter sheen of lavender dust did not spread over the camp that evening as it did before. The following days ride has moments of difficulty but it too passes without incident as does the following evening where the party now stops to camp at the base of the snow capped mountain.
"We'll enter the wastes tomorrow," Zira says gesturing from their vantage over the barren expanse that begins abruptly at the base of the mountain and stretches in all directions as far as the eye can see. Zira's campsite is above on a rocky outcroping with the mountain at your backs, a steep drop on the left and front with the only real entry point from the right near the path. "I wanted to say I appreciate each of you and your contribution as well as sacrifice this far. I hope..." she pauses to hoist her glass at dinner that evening, "thus journey going forward is as easy as the last few days," she finishes before clunking her glass into Gen-ga's then taking a drink.
OOC: Any questions about Ellyria? Any last minute business? We'll sunset again and restart the final travel day to the site.
“But no living man am I! You look upon a woman...You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King
Ted’s mouth is agape at the idea of sprites or pixies, “They are Fey right? Like how we are Fey-touched? I never quite got the link there, to be honest I thought much of it was bluster and an elven superiority flex. You don’t think they’re some very distant relations do you?”
Relaxing at the campsite, Ted raises his glass too. “Yes, a successful journey so far, one for the history books! So what can we expect in the wastes, you’ve been before right?”
Before they made their way to camp, Ragnar watched the creatures that Areon pointed out to Ted.
He bows to them while still on the horse and gives them a nod.
"Landvættir, maybe," he says over his shoulder to Erika. "I did not expect them to be down here. Always best not to provoke or frighten them. Nothing but bad luck comes from upsetting the nature spirits."
Later in camp, once they've gotten set up and are shaking out the soreness of the day, Ragnar stares out at the wastes stretching in front of them.
"With all the wild magic flowing around Ellyria, are there limits on how long we can stay inside the city?" Ragnar asks Zira. "Does the city itself ever change shape?"
Erika gives a nod, following Ragnar's eyes to the strange creatures. "If the old stories are true, they may be mischievious, but little harm past a few tricks will come to those who show them no hostility. Though..." she pauses, looking at the others, "I wonder if such mischief has led to our burdens for this trip."
Around the campfire, she asks Zira, "Our point of entry... what is it like? What sort of threats have you seen around it previously? And is it mostly aboveground, or are we expecting to descend below?"
Trixi spent the big part of the journey watching the little fey - creatures she never saw before. Later she listen everyone's explanations what those critters are with the final question: "Are they the one who stole our horses? What would they do with them, eat? They seem too small to ride one."
But the curiosity was fleeting, or, better say, pushed away by a bigger wander on the horizon - Ellyria. That night all her dreams were about the amazing things they can find there (not that she remembered them by the morning, of course).
The sprites only seemed curiously amused by the party and didn't seem to harbor any ill will towards the party.
Around the campfire Zira answers the party's questions.
"I've been to the ruins yes over a dozen times but not this particular area," Zira answers Ted. "To my knowledge the wild magic and anti-magic can shift. They blow on the winds and seep up from the earth itself as if Ellyria effects all aspects of the area itself. It's crash site measured 600 hundred miles square miles!" Zira exclaims with a giddy grin. "We've explored less than thirty percent of it," she explains to Ragnar. "As for the area we seek it's unexplored and beneath the surface about a day's ride from the south eastern edge where we'll approach. It is the library and laboratory of one of the higher mages," she explains. "The entry point is from above. We'll need to rappel down about thirty feet into a chamber and advance from there. That's all I know," she answers Erika.
"We'll be wary I think and might need to discuss strategy for times magic might not aid us," Gen-ga says looking thoughtful their arm resting around Zira's shoulders as the fey touched half-orc leans into the bronze dragonborn.
OOC:We ready to progress? After this night's "rest", welcome to level 5.

Ted ponders, “That awesome thing I did with my sword..... it was cool right? But anyway, what I wanted to ask was, do you think that will be affected? You know, the smaller things like Trixi’s blast. I heard they were different from the spells like I used to summon Octofriend. Oooh, also I guess we won’t be swimming around too much over there, I’d better try to change his form so the spell doesn’t blow up in my face.” Ted starts recasting his find familiar spell burning his incense over the fire.
OOC: Are we rolling for the shape the familiar takes Killi or are you saying Ted is focused enough to choose and hope Ellyria doesn't have an effect?
Zira summons Alistair and the winged cat settles on her lap.
"Do you mind if I ask you for a song or two Erika?" Zira asks with a soft smile. "Something somber to send off our fallen and something soft for my love," she adds patting Gen-ga's hand as the dragonborn shifts nervously but beams a smile at Zira and a hopeful one at Erika.
Alistair then settles in Gen-ga lap purring audibly as the sunsets orange and purple against the darkening sky.

Ragnar watches the fire for a moment as Gen-ga mentions that magic might fail them at some point.
"I think we will find out when we find out, Tedbane," Ragnar says. "The power and energy flowing out of and around the city may just overwhelm everything else. My gifts are not what many think of as magic, but who knows, the link to the power that grants them to me could be interfered with by wild magic."
He looks into the darkness of the barrens again.
"I'm going to assume all I will have access to is rope, hammers, steel, blood and sweat and hope the Lord of Storms power makes it through to me. But I suspect he will be more amused by my toiling in the dirt like a laborer to raise a finger to help."
Ted has learnt his mistake from his last mishap, and is very focused as he casts the spell. “I’m gonna leave out the chilli powder this time, think it might have been the problem. Thought it was more of an art, but I guess not.... I just really wanted an Imp like that shopkeeper!” He concentrates really hard, but as he is choosing the form he ponders, “I really wanted a talking bird, it would really mess with you guys, but I guess I’ve only really got one shot at this, so I’ll get an owl, they can see in the dark right? I don’t think we have owls in Zozobra, well, if we do I never paid much attention, most animals in the city are just pests.” (he’s going for an owl)
Ted roll a charisma check. Just straight charisma.
OOC: FYI divine magic, so healing, is unaffected. That'd suck too hard eh?

Ted feels a odd tingling in his hands and mouth having cast his spell. The next spell you cast within the next 24 hours uses a spell slot of one level lower than what it normally requires. If the spell is a spell of 1st level, you still must expend any other spell slot to cast it.
OOC: We good to moved eh?
