-This orb contains the essence of an evil dragon, a presence that resents any attempt to coax magic from it. Those lacking in force of personality might find themselves enslaved to an orb. The orb is an etched crystal, blue globe about 10 inches in diameter. When used, it grows to about 20 inches in diameter, and mist swirls inside it. To attune to an orb, you must focus and peer into the orb's depths over the course of 3 long rests. In doing so you make a DC 15 Charisma check each time, your total of successes and failures affects your attunement to the item...
Attuenment: Follow the numbers below to determine the outcome of the attunement process at the end of the 3rd long rest.
3 successes - The player takes 4D10 psychic damage as the draconic soul within lashes out at the end of the attuenment, before they gain full control over the item.
2 successes - The player takes 8D10 psychic damage as the draconic soul within lashes out at the end of the attuenment, they manage to keep the soul within at bay and take 1D6 lightning damage every time they cast a spell from the orb, as the soul fights back.
1 success - The player takes 8D10 psychic damage as the draconic soul within lashes out at the end of the attuenment, they barely manage to keep the soul within at bay and take 1D6 lightning damage every time they cast a spell from the orb and must succeed a DC 15 charisma check to utilize the command dragons feature.
0 successes - The player suffers all of the effects of tier 3 and they lack control over the orb, allowing it to cast thesuggestion spell at will on them with a DC 18 save.
Sentience: The orb is a sentient magic item that houses the soul of an ancient blue dragon from a bygone era, its name is Azurian "The Tempest." The soul is chaotic evil and has an intelligence of 18, Wisdom of 17 and 21 charisma. The dragon was once a commander of a legion of dragons under the rule of Tarturus "The Molten King," he seeks to aid other chromatic dragons and has a hatred of elves because a number of powerful elven mages tricked him and trapped his soul within the orb. The orb was used during the dragon wars to fight dragons and thus, Azurian will do everything in his power to deceive and keep those who attempt to wield him from fully controlling him. There were a total of 5 orbs made, 1 for each chromatic color.
Properties:
-You gain resistance to lightning damage and you can cast lightning bolt, after casting roll a D6 on a 1-5 the spell can't be cast again until after a long rest
Command Dragons
-While you control the orb, you can use an action to cast the command spell targeting a dragon, which fails its save against the spell. The spell follows the normal rules of command and the dragon cannot use a legendary resistance against the spell. This property can be used once every hour.
Spells
-The orb has 12 charges and regains 1d10 + 2 expended charges daily at dawn. If you control the orb, you can use an action and expend 1 or more charges to cast one of the following spells, with a spell DC of 18 and spell attack bonus of +10. Spells include: Cure wounds, (5th-level version, 3 charges), Blink, (1 charge), Death ward, (2 charges), Storm Sphere,(2 charges), and Scrying,(3 charges). You can also use an action to cast the Detect Magic, spell from the orb without using any charges.

"Oh! Oh my. This... This is a thing. We need to take it with us, but we must be extremely careful with it. There is a terrible intelligence within, that calls itself 'The Tempest'. To meddle with this before we're ready would be to invite doom upon us all. Does anyone have an extradimensional space to transport this for the time being?"
Meep is equal parts leery of and enthralled by the Orb.
You're enthralled and for a moment everything around you goes dark and your companions appear gray and unmoving. You see the Tempest standing in front of you, almost sneering at you because you're a kobold and ancient dragons don't see you as people. The Tempest is almost offended that you were the one who discovered what it was. You can almost read its thoughts Why did you have to discover me? Why couldn't have been the woman or the elf? Heck, I'd take the undead dragonborn spawn.
But then you also feel a comforting presence by your side, as if it's not going to let you become dominated by the dragon inside of the orb. You see seven canaries inching toward the tempest without fear, ready to defend you. An old man in a wizard's garb and a floppy hat stands next to you and says," Don't listen to him Meep. You're more powerful than he realizes and that makes him afraid."
He puts a hand on your shoulder and he doesn't speak his name but you know it's the wizard Fizban and you're not sure how you know this but he's also the dragon god Bahamut.
"Take caution, but don't fear him."
As he says this, the Tempest vanishes and in his place is a duregar, specifically the one you escaped from. You know his name as Janxoras Sunblight.
Fizban steps back as the canaries return to him. He shifts to his dragon form. "You're not alone."
The room goes back to normal and Duke winces. "You can keep that orb away from me then. Right, Lil' Sebastian?"
Lil' Sebastian nods and steps behind Duke.

Meep shakes the fog from his head, and whispers the name "Sunblight." He then comes back to himself, and smiles as Sybil and Delmalis place the orb in the bag of holding. "That should keep for a while. Let's not mention to too many people that we have that - there are four others, probably just as evil, definitely just as powerful, and I shudder to think what would happen if they fell into the wrong hands. Let's go, onward and inward!"
Twitch, you move into the next room quiet as a cat, but not as stealthy. It's a 30X30 circular chamber with broken chests, as well as a broken table. Resting along the wall are miniature statues, about the size of a human thumb, of three elven rangers and a dragonborn, as well as a doll of Larael Silverhand. Next to the statue are two picks and two broken shovels.
There also seem to be holes in the floor where some folks tried to dig but were unsuccessful.
