(@Brian: Magic Missile requires you to target. Specifically, to 'see' your target. With eldritch blast you can blind fire in a direction, like you would if a target was covered by darkness for instance.)

(@Brian: So does every spell that requires an attack roll in the game... and as there are no true AoE spells that do force damage(at least none I can think of) in 5e, he is effectively invincible for this match while blinked away. Guess I'll go with my other plan then.)

I just couldn't help getting excited at having something that could /maybe/ work in this... I won't say bad situation, but not good either situation for my side.)

(Let me be clear. An attack or spell that deals force damage can hit an enemy on the ethereal plane in this campaign.

I wouldn't use the word 'Bypass' anyhow. 'Overcome'. You have to overcome eachother's abilities. I like to think every tactic and ability has a counter or even a variety of counters. Some more effective than others.)
(Edit: also I did intend for that comment to be interpreted as confirming force can hit ethereal. I just didn't expect people to like, get excited about it. I also didn't check your spells to see if anyone had EB (which is what I assume we're really talking about here.)
I've literally been giving my characters Sword Burst whenever I've had free cantrips for about a year. Even NPCs here.)
