In previous editions (AD&D 2nd, DnD 3.0+) The druids of Mielikki used to have a more generous choice of armour and weapons available than the standard druid.
Is there any canon source that introduces this property into the 5th edition?
Hallf-elven druid, an fluffwise really rather old-religion druid than cleric, and the concern ist rather bows&swords than armour.
Well, my DM allowed me generously to homebrew-in a short bow instead of javelin. I hadn't played DnD for quite some time (last time was 3.5 and Pathfinder years ago) and wasn't familiar with the changes of 5E and its focus on proficiencies. Retrospectively I could've just selected wood-elf instead of half-elf to circumvent this issue.
I was just curious whether someone else had also stumbled upon this, because from first to fifth edition similar issues of stuff missing in the latest edition and only to reappear some time later used to come up again and again.
The FRCS 3.0 p.23 had covered it like this: "Mielikki, who is famous for the number of druid/rangers who worship her, has more lenient spiritual oaths than most deities that druids worship in the Realms. Druids of Mielikki can use any of the standard armor or weapons that rangers normally use (all simple and martial weapons, all light and medium armor, and all shields) without violating their spiritual oaths."
The Weapon Master feat could also get you there, but maybe the most appropriate thing for this would be multiclassing into ranger. It would just take one level to gain proficiency in the weapons you want, and it would fit the narrative well.

Nope. But feel free to homebrew.
or if you want to be druid-y but wear heavy armor, you could go for Nature Domain Cleric.

Just take a level of Ranger, problem solved. :)
