Hey everyone, I am a DM and I have a question on this curse.
It is clearly stated that a Remove Curse spell cancels the cursed effects. However how does this effect the reduced Max HP? It's the reduction a permanent result of the curse of does the removal of the curse redact the 'effect' of it and return HP to normal?
For the situation, I am running Tomb of Annihilation, and they are almost at the Tomb itself at level 8.
There's almost nothing that permanently alters core stats in 5e, and anything that does will typically say "this effect can only be reversed by a Wish spell" (which technically means the effect isn't permanent, but Wish is basically deus ex machina for these instances).
I can see the theme of ToA being a reason to make the reduction permanent. To your question, a question: which is more important, consistency across play-throughs or theme?

The reduction is temporary and ends when the curse is removed
