So the general idea is a character that attacks with levitating weapons. Dancing Sword is a great start, but I'd be looking more for a character built around this floating sword idea, possibly wielding more than one, and being to attack multiple times per turn via floating sword.
~ I think the idea is present throughout different anime and games, but the one that comes to mind is a boss from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence for the PS2. Bosses name is Joachim Armster and he levitates several swords and attacks you with them throughout the fight.
~ The Star Wars 5E conversion actually has a subclass for one of the force-sensitive classes built around this idea. Consular - Way of Manipulation
I know homebrew is always an option, but I was curious if there was anything in D&D presently to bring this build idea to life.
There are a few ways to get floating weapons (dancing sword, spiritual weapon, blade of disaster, Mordenkainen’s sword), but the problem is that they all require bonus actions, so you'll never really effectively get more than one floating weapon from them. Aside from those, you could get animate objects, which isn't explicitly swords but can give up to 10 objects a 30 foot flying speed and the ability to attack. You could also get a magic thrown weapon that returns to your hand or be a 6th level Path of the Giant Barbarian, so that you can throw your weapon a bunch, and then just reflavor it as never actually returning to your hand. That might be a bit tough mechanically, though.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

The only way to make it work without needing specific magic items is to talk to your GM. Not to homebrew anything, but to get them to agree to let you flavor the character like this.
As long as you don't try to get any significant advantage, it doesn't really matter if you stab people by holding a sword, or by directing the sword that floats around you. If you try to get more range, or extra attacks, or the ability to do something with the hands that should be holding swords, the GM ought to reign you in, but as long as its just special effects, I would probably let you have at it.
My class suggestion is Pact of the Blade Warlock. They already manifest swords, and you can reflavor your eldritch blast to be attacks with the floating swords.
