As part of the Bonus Action you take to enter your Rage, you can move up to half your Speed.
Looking for some consensus, is this "pounce" considered a jump or strictly movement? I'm trying to understand how this works with:
Path of the Beast/Barbarian with Bestial Soul: Jumping (When you jump, you can make a Strength (Athletics) check and extend your jump by a number of ft. equal to the check’s total. You can make this special check only once per turn).
I'm not sure if I'm clutching at straws when saying that I could make a 40 or even 50ft+ jump when I rage. Given I'm 8th level with a +7 to Athletics (+Rage ADV) in combination with a movement speed of 50ft (40 base + speedy feat).
Quick Maths: (50ft / 2 = 25ft "pounce") + AD20(+7) = Max "pounce" of 52ft.
So, what do people think? Am I just clutching at straws and risking annoying my DM, Do I have an argument? Is it DM discretion? Please respond :)
Bestial Soul would let you extend your jump distance, but it would still be limited to how far you can move, which in this case up to half your Speed, mainly because each foot you jump costs a foot of movement.
For example with STR 18 & Speed 50, Instinctive Pounce let you move up to 25 feet and Bestial Soul let you jump 18 feet (9 feet on standing jump) + Athletics check, to a maximum of 25 feet because that's how far you can move as part of this Bonus Action.

Instinctive Pounce let you move up to half your Speed, which can include climbing, crawling, jumping, and swimming.

Your DM may make his own ruling though.
